Ability to e-mail Inf. in I17

no idea if it will be cross server, maybe could do experiment to see if you can send emails cross server now

and at least emailing inf will be able to MUCH more easily transfer funds between your own toons

Posted

The way you send an ingame e-mail now though is by character name. If you have the same character name on two or more servers, then how would the game know which one to send it to?

Posted

it would make more sense that its not cross server, but i rarely use the email system as it is now, once were allowed to transfer inf between our own toons, no need for person for inf transfers.

the cross server part didnt really bother me too much either, since all the toons i actually use are on the same server, but i do understand poeple who do have toons on other servers.

this might be a dumb question, but can we email it to ourselves? character to character?

Yes, I did this when I wanted to remember an AE arc before.

Yes, that's the idea.

It's going to make my red-blue/blue-red inf. transfer service much easier to facilitate.

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

Thank you for pointing that out.

I don't want to thread jack but this caught my eye near the inf announcement.

Kind of worried this is going to hurt my crafting.

well, i hate to bring up the negative here, but this just makes it a lot easier for RMT to get the new peeps. all they have to do is email a trivial amount of infl/inf(prob 10,000-50,000) to a player and tell them that if they would like more to contact them. and we all know new players emails come turned on for everyone and unless they know that they can turn it off we're going to have a problem.

like i said, i hate to bring this part of it up, but someone had to do it.

For the RMTs, that may be a problem for some, but I have and I'm sure many others too, have selected the option of only receiving emails from those in their friend list. I haven't had a spam email since I've selected that option.

I have gone to find myself. If I get back before I return, Keep me here!

Yes, if you /friend the other character name ahead of time.

total kick to the gut

This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.

First off.

HALLELUJAH!!!

Second off. A dumb question.

How EXACTLY does this interact with the spam-control methods released in previous issues? If you only take e-mails from friends but try to mail yourself inf...

Does this merely enrich the ether? Or are all your alts automatically considered friends?

You can't. The email system predates the current global name system, and was definitely designed for same-server communication. It'd be nice if that was revamped. That said, I don't really see email as very useful given the current chat system, which is already cross character and has a fairly reliable queuing mechanism for offline recipients. So I can only really see people making use of cross-server email specifically for cross server inf moving, which might mean it might not happen for a variety of hypothetical reasons.

Still, this is a nice QoL step. As a holder of two accounts, it doesn't add much for me, but it's nice to see it added.

Fantastic news. I'm wondering how it'll work in practice. Will emailed influence be immediately claimed upon reading the email? If not, this could work as an alternative influence banking method.

this is a good point here, honestly, you could just for the second or so your sending the email just turn off the email blocker , then once you get the email on the desired toon just restore the settings.

If nothing else it will allow inf. capped characters to send a bit to an alt so that they can claim their last sale without losing anything.

It's a nice little QOL addition.

That assumes you can mail inf to characters not on your account.

(Please oh please let this be cross-server)

Huh, lots of odd ideas and wishes here. I thought the note was pretty straight forward.

Yes, you can send money to your alts (that's the entire idea). Yes, you can send it to other people's characters.

You are automatically on your own friends list, so you can turn e-mail off for everyone else but still send yourself e-mails.

NO, you cannot send it to someone on the other faction.

Cross-server is unknown, though not likely.

So, any predictions on how this will affect the market? With lowbies having more money to throw around, does that mean more inflation?

No. People can just as easily buy stuff on rich toons and put it in base storage to go get on lowbies, or have a trusted friend help transfer influence/items.

This email option just makes it easier.

I am an ebil markeeter and will steal your moneiz ...correction stole your moneiz. I support keeping the poor down because it is impossible to make moneiz in this game.

I'm not worried about it.

Good question. I'm wondering that also.
