Rather than a straight 'tail', anyone else picture animate chains hanging off of character?

I have a tank on virtue that has the chains across the chest and as a belt that would really work with some hanging down.

City of Heroes was my first MMO, & my favorite computer game.

The comic also lampshades the "furry=deviant" foolishness at one point with a character who's a fangirl of humans. She points out that she's not attracted to humans, just fascinated by them.
Balanced?
Damn you for adding ANOTHER webcomic to my list.
At least its well written and funny...the problem is they are the only ones I read.

Do you know whats its like, cycling through a faves folder over and over per day waiting for updates?!

I say guns oooh so many guns.

And if you want to go on the subject of WB and anthro. Actualy if you are going to compare a female version of bugs that was made for sex appeal. You have to look at Babs. Flatout she was made to "spring" all the anthro lovers in the movie "Space Jam"

I see your anthros and raise you one I like. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rmbN6-T-UE
and you know what all the bleepin furry hate made this video get a adult tag. I call Foul. What about this dang video screams only adults more then the orginal video for stacy's mom?
Can I beat the crap out of the people that flagged the video?

This is even better than animated tails.

So many of my characters lose their tails in some costumes and I have to pull an excuse like "oh it's wrapped around her stomach like a belt" because that's all I can use to explain it.

Can't she be hot because of being Anthro AND having so many guns?

Babs Bunny was not in Space Jam. Babs was character in Tiny Toon Adventures

You're thinking of Lola Bunny

Animated tails, tails with belts?

WOO-HOO!!

Yes lola. dang sorry.
I was so brain dead at the momment that i couldn't think of her name. I knew it was babs but it was the only name i could think of. But Lola was literaly made to make us furries get a _____. Now babs was created to showcase the female side. And I love that they did that. Oh and minerva is soooo tame it isn't even funny. And WB has a track record for suggestive content is off the scale. For WB it is how can we slip this joke/person through the Fox censors. Wink wink "Fingerprints"

By the way noone has answered my question yet about the Flagging. Pretty please can I beat the guy up.

Still hoping to get tech/magic wings that are pods/nacelles that extend fans of light/energy when in use that just angle and shift in response to movement instead of flapping. But that's just me.
I'd like that style of wings too, more 'booster' as opposed to mecha like wings.

That said, the cell shading could be turned off.

Me, I didn't like the art style they used.

CoX's art style feels really comic book style to me. While CO felt more "comic book style, but not taken seriously, so made to look way to cartoony" to me.
Yes the option to turn off the huge lines was in the graphic options.
I didn't really care for what I saw during the trial I played, It was alright... but didn't really grab me.

T'be honest, NONE of the marvel characters are really 'anthro'. Something anthrow/furry w/e would be Bugs and crew, the characters in animated disney, etc. The one in the pic looks more like a woman with talons and a tail stuck on, lets be honest.

Omni, that vid was great. Slick little bit of animation, which I appreciate all the more for being an animation student
And yeah, kindly thump whoever got that tagged. I get that some of it is a bit suggestive...like, 2 on scale of 1 - 10.

Some people...

Still on the line wether Tigra and Cheetah actually count as anthros, given they are actually humans that have aquired animal traits one way or another. Although iirc Tigra is linked to a race that are technically anthros...
The line can get confusing at times.
In terms of attraction:

For me the line between cute non-human/alien race and unappealing anthro pretty much comes when face becomes a snout and the hands become paws.

I don't mind animal ears (it's basically no different than an elf or vulcan, just with hair). And I don't mind a tail, humans have one, it's just vestigal and not readily apparent to people not familiar with legacy biology.

Even some change to the lower body is minimally acceptable...mermaids, nagas, etc...

I will admit to creating a race of drider-like people with a sort of ivory-tower-sage type culture and made them interbreedable with other races in the game (all the races were interbreedable, actually and the arachnae were almost left out of that except I'd already said I'd make all races compatiable...)....I have never thought about the mechanics of a drider-human match, and I'm not about to start now...I usually handwaved it as "shapechanging magic" and stopped there.

Historically, human methods of creating/imagining alien races is basically the following:

A) change colorations (orion slave girls)
B) change proportions (elvish ears)
C) add animal bits (Greek mythicals, Celtic mythicals, Japanese mythicals, Egyptian mythicals, Judeo-Christian mythicals, oh heck, just bloody pick a culture)

Heck, Klingon is basically human + fangs + dinosaur-like bone ridges.

But....

they still have a basically human face....

So for me too much past Gold Digger:

wererat
werecheetah
werewolf

to, say this:

wererat
werecats
werewolf

And I generally no longer see that form as human.

Even then, it's not disgusting, just...not close enough to human.

Anyway:

It's true, taking it too far slips into something called the 'Uncanny Valley', to get all film/animation technical on ya'll.

It's the reason we tend to see humanoid robots and things like zombies as freaky.
I even have a graph! *gasp*

Basically, certain styles of anthro can sit etiehr before or after the valley. They tend to have enough human traits and aspects that make people able to sympathise with them. The ones that people tend to find repulsive are, usually, the ones that have slipped into the valley. Either that, or the viewew is simply that intolerant that they label anything anthro/furry as evil and wish to burn it.

The first three pictures Lycanus linked are basically humans with animal parts stuck on. The shape is the same, its recognisable, and thus within peoples comfort zones.

Out of the second trio, the first and third I didnt like. For me, they've gone into valley territory. The second is less of a hybrid and doesnt suffer from that, because its not yet gone into the valley. If the face was a mix of human and animal (Like the third picture) it would probably come across as more unsettling.

See, there's even Science behind all this stuff!

Personally I just dislike anthro characters because they're so bloody overdone. Adding furry ears and a tail doesn't make an already tired concept any more endearing. CO was horrific for this.

That's easy, just avoid them.

It's not like they'll overwhelm the game. People thought the same when the devs announced "anime-inspired" pieces, which mostly amounted to more armor types which I've rarely seen used.

we're not going "city of furry" anymore than we went "city of anime" or "city of bondage"

we did have a brief flurry of "city of marvel" mostly because Marvel was sending people in to prove that people were stealing their characters....but even that's petered out.

If you dislike a character type, don't use it, but that's no reason to prevent other people who DO like that type to use it.

Heck, I'm a bit squicked out by all the cyborg pieces we do have, but I haven't said anything about "please don't allow more cyborgs".

Thats poor design. Not the fault of the genre.
Thats like saying you dislike [Insert Popular character here], because one series/issue/etc was written by a bad writer =]

Uh, the fact I keep running into them is why I think they've overdone. I don't think you quite understand this. But, I dunno, somehow you equate 'I think they're overdone' with 'don't make them anymore :*(', so eh.

Well actually it's like saying I dislike [Character] because he appears everywhere, under countless forms. Over-exposure: please don't drag the self-persecution into this.

cough don't you notice who is the artist in the video?
It is fred perry. The creator of gold digger.
I really love his stuff. He does great comics. Also love the FFXI web comic he does. He can draw good characters, and do sex appeal if you want. For both ladies and guys.

by the way anthro does include "were" creatures. aslong as it is more of a shape changer or a mixture. not just stuff being slapped on.
But overall i dont like alot of the transformation furry stuff. But then all my werewolf toons dont shapechange much. there stuck in a half wolf/human state as such they would have to find ways to hide there animal side if people in the stories had trouble.

I have a D&D socerer who is a werewolf that is dragon desended. Oh and is andro.
