EU gets shafted - AGAIN!

I know for sure that nothing is prying me from my fortress on Union, even if they merged the server list. And Union is far from dead. It'd be nice to have a slight influx though, although I have noticed a number of new players recently.

I have been following this thread and my tuppence is..

Yes i would go for a server merge with NA but if i remember rightly? the thing stopping them was the fact the accounts for NA and EU were in separate divisions of NC and it was legal mumbo jumbo that stopped them moving us over?

Could all have changed now that they shut Brighton OFC

I think the one thing that could possibly "dilute" the Euro server communities if the lists were merged would be if they offered a free server transfer period at the same time - that might lead to quite a few Euro players moving to the former American servers, and some American players trying out the Euro servers because the transfers were free - the populations could stay the same, but the Euro server communities could end up spread out over all the servers.

That was the "hurdle" if I remember correctly that might be the one that they refer to...
Now though, it just do not make any sense at all. They are the same company for crying out loud.
If the legal mumbo jumbo is to not reveal account info, well alright. We may have stricter laws in Europe then in the US. However if one keeps the same account system as it is now, but just edits the start up files (like updater) to point to the same list (Again server list merge thought), that should not be a problem... should it?
Thus it must be something else. Is it lack of will? Fear that the servers (eu) will be reduntant? Much programming? Server location (rent, loc or what not)? Red tape issues with servers even if office was moved to US? Or other possibilities that we do not know, since the men in black has not shared with us anything.
Well for me, the words of WW are cautious. BUT there is enough said that has given me hope (Cause it is War Witch) and it is more info then we have gotten in a long long time.
They still keep their cards tightly to their chest (the men in the dark) and something very hush hush from us, but I do not think it will turn out to be the Doom-thingy.
I just hope that any promotion they do with pc-mags etc, any references they give to the public, any trial or code they give will be an EU code though.
That they keep continue the "getting communities closer together"-approach that they made then the forums where merged.

As i've said in another thread, if we get a server list merge I (and others I believe) will try making alts on other servers. That is true.
But Union will be my home server, it is there I got my Cox buddies, main characters, their badges, sg and story.

I will never leave my SG... base... friends... Nut I know or ure about friends whnw play on US who would like aces to Union again.

Yeah but given how few people are on Defiant now, compared with even a year ago - I strongly suspect it would be the final nail in the EU servers collective coffins. Sure we'd get a small influx of players from NA to redress the balance but even (as JD suggested) if the popular servers were closed off - it would open maybe not a floodgate but a haemorragic drip that wouldn't take too long to denude the servers entirely.

For sure I'll stick on Defiant for as long as it's there but that's largely cuz it's where I started and I'm an obstinate bustid!

Besides, I want the "Lights Out" badge! ;-)

In the case of a server list merge I would also stay firmly rooted in Defiant. The only time I click on another server is in the event of a misclick and it's usually Zukunft.

The thing is we have only ever had 2 english speaking servers, the US have several and are used to server hopping yeah people will try other servers if there is ever a list merge. But that will still mean an influx in our servers and like most people have said they would not leave their home server, but other players will join for slots cross sea teaming etc but our tight 'LITTLE' communities will remain with a better chance of having more players in them.

if the first part of your.... unpunctuated tirade were true, then the US population would be evenly spread across all servers rather than concentrated in 2.

Well I swing both ways having Alts on both Union and Defiant

But my real home is Defiant 10 of my 11 50s are there. All of my main teaming friends (all 8 of us*) are there.



*This is a joke as I don't team often with Wabbit it must mean there's only 7 of us

Guilty as charged guv'nor. I think I've read too many so the slightest mention of it gets my back up. Plus, I play both sides anyway so it all seems a bit pointless to me.
