Where was the first City of Heroes Meet & Greet?
I know it was NOT in the MidWest.
Austin.
Which is where the community liason folks were initially based out of.

Trying to remember the order of things, and I'm having trouble remembering where the City of Heroes Meet & Greet was. You know, the one that happened before the official Hero Cons?
Anyone that knows would be beloved. Thanks! |
Ahhhh, good times, good times.
Thanks, Slim!
Now I'm trying to figure out how I got there and back... and where I slept that night. It was all a huge blank. Did I just magically teleport there?
Yup, D & B in Milpitas. I was there as well.
Never argue with stupid people. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I don't remember, but it is easily findable - I was searching through old news posts on the main page (for something unrelated) and read the announcement just a couple of days ago. (I just don't remember what it said.) You can find it too by scrolling back a good ways, if you need a primary source.
In the Arena of Logic, I fight unarmed.
Yeah, D&B at the Great Mall in Milpitas. I also remember you there. I have no idea where you slept and how you got there and home though, but I do remember they had an after party at one of the hotels nearby. I have no details on that though since I didn't go to that.
Okay, I was remembering Austin, too (not that I was there), so I found it real quickly:
February 23, 2006 at Cyberjocks in Austin.
At least, that's what TPTB describe as the first ever.
Catwhoorg gets the prize, at least for naming the first one.
There was an internet gaming cafe outside of Los Angeles that was the site of a Lineage II/CoH Meet & Greet before the Dave and Busters one.
I remember it because that was where I had my first Monster energy drink, although for the life of me I can't remember the name of the place.

It was Howie's Game Shack on Saturday May 13, 2006. I only still remember because I was there, and spent about half of my time trying to get inside information out of the devs about upcoming stuff for the game. And then when I got back home, I posted everything I had learned on my SG message board. The post is still there, so I was able to look it up.

The event at Cyberjocks was more about promoting Auto Assault, which was about to launch. They had a little room with a few systems running it. I won an Auto Assault hat there.
The D&B event in Austin was more CoH, but there was a good bit of Tabula Rasa stuff thrown in. Garriott attended in a uniform he had made. For me, this was where I met my live-event friends from Justice.
A bit later was the first specifically CoH event at the D&B in Milpitas. Then a year after that was the first Hero-Con, then, of course, the second in October.
Good times. If not for that D&B event in Austin, I probably wouldn't have ended up going to the Milpitas event nor to Hero-Con. Now, it's something I look forward to each year.

Went to every NCSoft event in Austin. I can't go to any other locations...
Also, they didn't give out in-game costumes until AFTER they stopped having Austin events.
Hm...tho now that I remember, the last one I went to I ended up having to stop in Waco to sleep for a bit.... It was rather late going home.

I must say I much preferred the first HeroCon though.
