That's striking, LD. It really conveys her motion through the routine. Well done.

I like the originality of this layout LD and the gestural qualities along with the colors work very well together!

Let's keep this focused on the artz and not on the comments. And hopefully it will remain an ART contest and NOT a popularity contest!!

I really don't have any problem with the comments thus far on the thread. And I definitely don't see how any are relating to making this into a popularity contest?

As your Friendly Neighborhood FArt Mistress, little derailments give me ideas as to how to keep improving the competition. I pick up ideas from odd places (and OK, I won't REALLY do a Rocky Horror theme month, but other random things you guys say do start the gears a turnin'). We haven't even gotten to where we're doing eliminations yet, so I'm more than flexible as to implementing improvements.

And, as I mentioned before, it should be a bonus to the artists to be able to get this feedback on their pieces before voting. I don't take any submission as final until the deadline, so tweaks can be made. If anything, the more comments we get during the submission phases, the better a display we'll get in the end!

So that's a fantastic piece.

I think Lousy just won for this month, and we haven't even voted yet. O.O

I am sooooo outclassed.

Not trying to win any popularity contests here, but I do appreciate all the comments. I was feeling rather crappy after unintentionally staying up all night, and what everyone said here and on DA made my day, so thank you.

Ok while we seem to differ on RH (I don't care for it) and MST3K (I like a lot of it) I think we can all agree *puts on brown coat* on how awesome Firefly is.
That is a fine piece LD by all accounts and it sounds like you put a lot of thought into the theme and how it all relates together with the title. Well done on several levels.

I had to chuckle a little bit at the thought of an artist as talented as Lousy (still sounds funny to call you Lousy heh) going over his work with a fine tooth comb before posting it to try and spot "what CR will point out" hehe.

...Gah 5 days! I'm so used to enjoying this as a spectator it's easy to forget I have to get something submitted too.

P.S. Wasn't there like 15-16 entrants last year? We need at least like 2 more per day or it's going to be a short contest.

Glad you're joining the fray and tossing in some graphic design stuff, Pyro! I was definitely hoping some designers might get in on the FArting, because as Lousy_Day showed us with the sun catcher entry last year, "Fan Art" covers a WIDE array of media and ideas!

Very funny Shia! Although I must admit, I'm confused as to why a woman (who I am quite certain is hot) is in the same pool with Mako in the top pic.

Didn't say it... refrained from saying it... bit my tongue and let someone else spot it too...

...but yeah had it gone much further I would've mentioned the lack of hawt chick in Shia's piece. I'd hate for him to lose out before we even get started...

...now losing to me in the finals sure, that would work and stuffz (like I'm going to make it to the finals haha)... but not in the first month when there isn't even an elimination.
