Quote:Edit PS: Also all of my womens were clothed and not showing nipples, neener neener.This complaining over the change from midnight to afternoon or whatever is sort of silly, don't you think, CR? It's not like the contest said you had to do it overnight in a single day (Although honestly that would be sort of bad ***, I'd be all up for something like that in the future, I remember hearing about comic contests online where the participants created a comic in a day or a week or something), you had exactly as long as I had to work on it, about 3 weeks.
I was honestly rather impressed that you came in at the last minute and tried to come up with a piece (until someone noticed you cut and pasted most of it from old pictures in your gallery, but as there's no rules against it explicitly posted this time I 'spose it isn't a big deal), but when you wait to the last minute (as I know I have in the past), you get what you put into it, really. It'd really show a bit more maturity on your part if you'd just stand by your work and stop trying to make excuses for it. Be a man!
Yes, Suichi came up with the theme as a joke, yes Wassy decided it'd be a fitting end theme, but hey, she's the judge, and going in every contestant pretty much agreed to go by her judging for the sake of the contest, and the theme itself isn't all that important anyway. Each person is going to interpret it differently, and once more, it isn't as though the theme was in any way partial or showing favoritism on my part (However the results in both pieces did seem to lead both of us into rather risque areas). I had just as much trouble coming up with an idea for it as you did, I expect, I just got on the ball a bit sooner since this was the last month I and I wanted to make a good show of it.
And on a final note, if I win, I'm spending the prize money on a completely different charity, the American Economy :P I'm gunna blow it all at an Octoberfest celibration up in Big Bear and see how drunk I can get, and how many poor destitute hookers I can wake up next to. Remember people, a vote for me is a vote for poor destitute hookers! -

There you two go, acting like somehow the topic favors me. How on *earth* is 'Ribbons' a topic better suited towards me? Ribbons? Seriously? Since when am I ribbon lord and master? Dorky and silly maybe, or even utterlytotallyamazing, but I honestly thought the topic was uninspiring when I heard it (oddly most of this years themes were a little difficult to come up with something interesting for), and it took me a week or two to actually come up with anything I could use other than a silly goof off drawing that was basically a copy of the one Sue'd already drawn.
Now if you're trying to say I'm more versatile and have a wider range of what I can and have drawn, then sure, I'll take that as a topic being better suited towards me. In that respect any topic would probably be better suited towards me, I guess, if a person wasn't feeling it. I like this contest in one respect because I find myself drawing things maybe I wouldn't draw if I were sitting at home and doodling. But you two, CR and DJ1, are going on like I draw ribbons and bondage on a daily basis and wake up to a fine ribbon breakfast and dream away my ribbony day with ribbon filled fantasies.
And that is just not so.
Your strange fetish filled thoughts of me and my ribbon mastery shall die now, sad, alone, and dead, where all dead dreams go, along with my hopes of being the blondest alcoholic president of the world to vomit on a Johnny Dep in space. Ooh, ooh, and Johnny Dep is also a hot chick in this one, with racktastic exploits! -
Quote:Hah, I hadn't noticed the Swan thing till you pointed it out. And I'd worked on that piece more than a few days, too. Wonder how I missed that....Um I mean, no no, you see, the cape was getting in the way so they laid it out on the ground under her... yah....Just to be fair here are some of the problems I can see with Shia's piece[list][*]Swan's cape/wings/whatever are showing below her, but don't seem to be coming from anywhere.[*]The numbered ribbons worked in the original piece, but when it became an ad for Arachnos ribbon training, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places don't really make sense in that context.
I also realize I haven't voted. It's a very tough call. -
Quote:Oddly, I found myself annoyed with the "hot chicks rule" when it was there, and once it wasn't I was happily drawing hot chicks anyway. Weird.I really hope CR does end up participating, I was really looking forward to the final throw-down.
Granted had it not been for the delay I would have not launched my illustrious stick figure drawing career so some good has come out of this, but still... we should all remember that FArt is an excuse to have fun and draw almost naked people, FArt should never be the cause of harsh words spoken between forumites for any reason.
And that guy with his nicely lettered arguements earlier I assumed was kidding, or being ironic or something, because everything he said made no sense to me. I think it was opposite day when he posted. -
Havent quite forgotten about this contest. There's about 8 days left, and I thought I'd spend the evening putting some time into my submission, and you can see it here;

I may clean up the background in the future, or tweek the lighting or something. So... lets say its a WiP for now. -

I would like to request that all the new drama posts made on the subject of the FArt contest be added here for my convenience.

Quote:Errr, that's not my piece. I was just teasing Sue.Congrats on your appointment to The Board, Miss Wassy! Our loss is their gain!
Foo: You owe me *BIG* for giving you the Honorable Mention (and .5 point) in the August FArt contest. Glad to see that you've submitted something for September. At the very least, you can expect another .5 point!
Shia: I'm glad to see that you've submitted your piece already. I love the expresion on Suichiro's face, and Sapph and Deebs look like they're having *lots* of fun. I can only imagine that you cropped *my* guest appearance because I was swinging from the ribbon *south* of the cropped area*!
[*That's my interpretation, and I'm sticking to it!]

Quote:Money you say....! Well hurry up and post the guide lines, we're running out of days in the month.I believe it'd be best to follow through on Wassy's original intentions. Based on her statements, I believe her declaration is for September to be a Shia vs. CR with the secret theme being.... inju *cues dramatic music/choir and a rising platform center stage with a variety of ribbons*
If you agree to it CR...and if Shia posts in this thread that he agrees to this one-on-one battle, I'll pony-up the cash prize to make it more interesting. I do want to re-iterate that there is a caveat to the cash prize...both you and Shia can't back out after agreeing to the final face-off. If either one of you withdraws after the fact, the remaining player is declared winner but the cash prize is off the table. Otherwise, the rules are the same as the past months, with votes on the CoH forums tabulated and person with the overall highest total declared winner. -
Quote:With how little I pay attention to these boards and by proxy any posts you make, I have decided to agree with you! It's a terrible idea, but I have a better one!Wait, wut? An ART JAM? Like I've been suggesting for months now? No, I don't think so. I suggested it, therefore it's a terrible idea. Don't do it!
We'll call it the Shia Happy Imagination Tour!
What we'll do is we'll get together once a month and all draw things in the same subject together, thus touring the imaginary art world together in a happy manner, hand in hand! It can't fail! -
That's a cool idea... a monthly art jam where anyone was welcome might be fun. However, it wouldn't have the drama and angst that this one provides me every month where people freak out over a contest with no reward of any sort :P Which I adore, honestly. This is some deeeeelicious drama! The only thing you can really get out of it is practice, and the joyful fun of working under a dead line. Both of which are important I think.
-
Quote:Bah, the majority of this contest is just showing up and posting something, and it's good practice to have a deadline. Stick around and see what happens. :PLoL...your doddles are better than my masterpieces. I just didn't want my crap piece to be of any influence of determining who goes to the final month versus CR.
I guess what I'm trying to say is: I had planned for a pop quiz, and when half the class didn't show up, the quiz then turns into the final exam. If I had known that...I would have "studied harder".
...so you deserve to face CR in the final month (If it's ok with Wassy, and the rest of the voters). Technically (like Wassy said), CR had immunity this month, so it would have come down to yours vs mine to see who faced CR next month right? So then it's settled...I won't drop out, but rather concede the victory to you. There's no "immunity" to win this month, so you automatically move on to the final round.
That sounds good to me. -
Quote:Haha, think again, I doubt I spent more time on mine than you did on yours. That was my own last minute effort, I think maybe I spent an hour at the most slapping it together.Sorry, I'm at work and typing from my iPhone, so I'll be quick and follow up when I get home:
I'm not trying to put a sour end to a great contest. I just know that the other 2 artists actually took time to draw and create art for this month...whereas, I did not. That is my fault, and mine alone. I threw together screenshots to just have an entry this month, rather than take the time and create something. That's my own mistake for thinking that the artists that stayed in WOULD carry over to next month.
To me, it doesn't seem fair that Shia and I have to battle it out for being the ones that stayed in. Especially if my piece were to beat out his, when I really didn't put forth any effort, and he did. -
I usually wait till the last minute to see if I can think up something better. In this case, I coudlnt especially, so I did this of Statesman and Deebs;

Alright, I got off my duff and did this 'retcon' here of Statesman and his good friend Stephan finding the wrong fountain of the gods to drink out of, and it sort of changes things in a subtle way;

There should be a link to the livestream in the description there where I drew it online, today.
For those interested, here's the livestream of me drawing it;

And it starts around 59:00 -
Geesh, two months? O_o; That's way too much time! I kinda liked the 1 month limit, it was a decent amount of time and kept the deadline there in front of you. I'm gunna forget about this and do it at the last minute as usual, probably. And oddly, I find this one to be a lot easier to come up with ideas for than the previous ones.
I'd vote/suggest we make it the usual month limit. You'd get more art that way! -
Gah I totally don't get you people. I post a submission I think is hilarious incarnate way ahead of deadline and I get a meh, I post a submission ala comic that I came up with at the last minute and was pretty sure was rather sucky, and you vote it first. You're all weird. Also you have boot fetishes you need to deal with. Personally I go here; http://www.onlinebootstore.com/
-
And here's my near last minute entry. I couldn't really come up with anything better, so, hey, somethings better than nothing. Oh, I chose sloth as my sin of the month!;

I did this drawing for my bestest E-friend on the webs, Dragonberry. I'm happy to have known you as long as I have, and hope you have lots and lots more Birthdays and get really really old!

Why hi! I don't usually vote in these because I think it's weird for the participants to have a say in the final outcome, as, from a certain perspective, that are biased, however in this specific instance I have decided to vote, while taking Tartyrsauces attempt at public self elimination into mind.
First off, I vote for John Carter.
secondly, I vote for Captain Jack.
And thirdly, I vote for John Mudafugging Carter.
I'll see you all on mars, biyotches! -
