SINNERS AND SAINTS

For May’s theme, we’re going to be exploring the world of the Seven Deadly Sins and Seven Heavenly Virtues. This theme is actually my final Editorial Illustration assignment (except we’re only doing the sins, because we’re dark and evil illustration students), and I was enjoying it so much, I couldn’t help but share the wealth. I also realized that this good and evil theme would give the contestants lots of possibilities in a world of heroes, villains, and transvesti – er, rogues! Good symmetry all around.

There are a couple differing canons of the sins and virtues, but we’ll stick to the following breakdown to keep things simple:

The Sins – Wrath, Sloth, Greed/Avarice, Pride/Vanity, Lust, Envy, Gluttony

The Virtues – Chastity, Temperance, Charity, Diligence, Patience, Kindness, and Humility

There are a few ways to come at this theme. You can use CoH/V elements to illustrate a personification of a sin or virtue. You could perhaps show the consequences of the sins or the benefits of the virtues. Some nice juxtapositions would perhaps be finding the sins or virtues in unexpected places.

Keep in mind that these portrayals are not limited to scenes. Graphic design continues to be welcome. There are no medium restrictions (except for the visual art requirement) this month.

THE RULES

1. The Hot Chicks Rule- All entries must somehow include a hot chick!

2. Keep It Clean- All entries must be direct-linkable on the boards. If its worse than PG-13, you will be disqualified.

3. Use City of Heroes/Villains Elements- Your entry must somehow relate to City of Heroes/Villains either through character, setting, or some other means

5. Visual Fan Art Only- We're not taking writing, music, or interpretive dance submissions

DEADLINES
All entries must be posted to this thread or the dA group by MIDNIGHT US EASTERN TIME, SATURDAY MAY 22ND. Voting/the new theme will follow during that weekend. Its in the artists' best interest to get their pieces in early for feedback or in case there is a disqualifying element. Feel free to PM me with any questions or if you're unsure if something is within the rules.

My own sinful illustration is due on the 10th, so your FArt Mistress may have a little inspiration to offer up soon. Of course, my piece is not direct linkable (and NO, I’m not doing lust. Too obvious!), but I’m sure you heathens will be able to find your way!

You were in the picture until a bit of ice cream melted, dripped off the cone and landed on your tail... Then the blob ate you just before the picture was taken!!

I think you may be right, Caem! On closer exam, I noticed that the side of Blob's mouth is raised -- as though he's burping after nomming something delicious!

Sorry about that! I like the sound of crunching uncooked elbow macaroni, and -- before I knew it -- I'd nommed the whole boxful.

Without further ado, here I am -- star of stage, screen, and Saturday morning cartoons ... AMERIKATT!!!

((She's sweet, always optimistic, and a bit naive, but she's King's Row's first line of defense against the miscreants who try to take advantage of the city's citizenry, both furred and non-furred alike.

If you do use her for your comic, please remember that she's an actual cat (blue furred Russian Blue) who's wearing a costume. Granted, she's the most powerful kitten on Earth (she has the non-shapeshifting powers of a Peacebringer), but she doesn't speak English (although she understands the language -- and several others -- and will respond with a "Mew" as appropriate, but she'd be more realistically portrayed as using thought bubbles. In those cases, her inner monologue would read like the stereotypical Golden/Silver Age hero(ine)!

A more realistic depiction of her can be found in the photo below, as well as ChristopherRobin's excellent sketch in the sig.))

I was thinking the "Cat in a costume" pic was just a funny, and that she was your typical, stands on two legs, humanoid woman with a few cat-features type of thing.

...NOW I understand the 'monkey" comment.

No worries, U-Naught. The game makes it impossible to properly represent me. I've advocated for having cat and kitten models added to the game, even offering to pay $10 USD *just* to get a booster pack with a 1' long (rather than 4' tall) model. So far, no go.

Thanks Caem, for answering Tartyrsauce's question while I was napping.

Now, would someone *please* tell me where DarkEmber got that picture of Catsi in drag?!

(*borrows some of Sapph's mind bleach*)

Good thing that I have nictitating membranes to cover my eyes or you'd have THREE lawsuits, Juggy, m'lad.

I enjoy the fact that this thread went from theme to cat in a bikini in just a handful of posts.

Can't draw a line to save my life, but I did look at the Vices and Virtues and had mental images going around. What was weird was that I had an easier time imagining my main (Lady A) posing for the Vices and my Very goodie-tooshoo (and most rp'ed char Cyrene) posing for virtues.
That was... troubling. Has such thoughts hit the Artists aswell on their own chars?

I look forward to see the Images of Heroes and villains that the participants will draw in this challange.
