Sounds awesome... but am I supposed to know where to click??

Quote:Pshaw! It's more likely there will be deuling FArt contests! Heck, I may get bored before next year and start the CHArt contest! Not as funny a title but twice the drama or your money back!
I'm surprised that more people haven't started up contests and JAMs on here.
So many people seem to have opinions on how it SHOULD be done... why not get some balls rolling? -
Wassy, thanks for taking this on. It's really got the potential to be a fun run, but, as we've seen, sometimes it just doesn't turn out that way.
Either way, I want to thank everyone involved - both in organizing and competing. I've exchanged numerous pms with so many of you, and I'm glad that we got to work on this kind of thing together.
There are a few more months to go in this year, so we'll all have some time to cool down and decide if there should be a 4th run at this.
As to the 2010 battle though, I'd personally prefer to see a final challenge where everyone knows it's the final challenge.
That's up to those involved though. -
Sure. The imagery from WWII has always struck me as quite stunning. It was, of course, a horrific time in history, but it was also one of the first times that modern media recording was used on that scale. I grew up watching documentaries about it, and I think it influenced my art.
Likewise, tales of mythology and 'the gods' has always made me wonder about the lines between heroes, legends, and history.
Hope that helps clarify it a bit. -
Looks like and is - I messed up. Googled turner allpaper and was so focused on the format, I kind of ignored the piece. It was funy too because I thought 'hmmm, that one looks out of sorts', but I was pressed for time (funny how we feel pressed for time on someting that has no time limits), and just kind of skipped over my doubt. Ah well, will edit it on my DA page.

I think it's cool to try to see people's influences in their art.
Here's mine.

Sorry all, but I am out. I'm usually done by now, but I haven't even started. I'm just swamped with so many projects, work, and an upcoming move.
Good luck to all that are still in the mix, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you bring. And a special thanks to Wassy for continuing to put this on. It's not an easy job, so thanks for putting in the effort for us (and this goes for Frost's cool spreadsheets as well).

Finally done this - thanks for all the thoughts and opinions on it.

I'm thinking that this is done
Sentry vs Ironman
Thanks for all the input and ideas. -
My mom passed a few years ago from cancer.
I'm going to try to find some time to do one up. -
Thanks. I see that color difference too and will be adjusting it.

this is cool
I hope I can come up with something -
Personally, this I where I go for artistic help

Lots of Pros on that board that are willing to help. -
1/2 of the poses in comics look uncomfortable - but there's a certain margin of belief when dealing with illustrations and characters. If this character is a demon summoner, then I'm guessing theywould be able to comfortably position their hands in ways I might not. If Spiderman is a wallcrawler, then I'm guessing he could do whatever Mcfarlane stretched him into doing.
FD, did you photo reference this at all? if so, perhaps you could show Durakken how this is entirely possible? -
Ah, that's good to know. I was trying to think how I'd include that.
Quote:Hey all. Just wanted to say thanks in regards to hosting this event every month Wassy, thanks to all the artist and to the players who followed and voted! It was fun to make it this far, but in light of recent RL events my available time to contribute to this just got whammied! So I unfortunately/fortunately (depends on the perspective lol) need to withdraw from this event and focus on some new exciting RL design/art opportunities that got "the go ahead" today!
Good luck on the following months guys - keep up the good work! -
Durakken: I get what you're saying. You're a minimalist. I agree with you about not every action needs to be shown. hat being said, your desription reads a little bit more like a novel illustration than a comic panel. No worries though, I'll try to take it and see if I can 'speak without talking' in the next pages a bit more.
Thornster: That's very close to how I was picturing it. -
Quote:I'm going to try to work on that.
Also none of the panels are very dynamic. One of the panels give scope but that one is very boring. -
So, here's how they're looking so far. I obviously haven't incorporated everyone's thoughts, but I'm hoping I touched on some of the strongest suggestions for change.
pg1
pg2
pg3
Sound effects and dialogue to be added.
Any thoughts? -
Great to see so many familiar names - I miss those times.
