Filled out a really awesome sheet over on DA I think its a great idea for an artist to do something similar to this.

All images are explained on my DA http://eddy-swan.deviantart.com/art/...6965167?q=&qo=

so who inspires your art? either fill one of these out or just list them and link to pictures.

I can't do one of these. I don't think think I can track all the pieces.

Also, I'm surprised by your love of Michael Turner. I don't see his style in you at all, and please don't take that as a slight, 'cos it's actually a compliment.

Mine is artist driven rather than specific pieces.

hell people in general are welcome to do something like this, inspiration doesn't just have to be inspiration to do art it can be anything at all.

I think it's a great idea, the influence maps.

Seen them cropping up all over deviantART in the past month.

Will have to get around to doing my own one soon-ish (emphasis on the -ish).

I think it's cool to try to see people's influences in their art.

Here's mine.

That spot where you have "Turner" looks like David Finch art.

Looks like and is - I messed up. Googled turner allpaper and was so focused on the format, I kind of ignored the piece. It was funy too because I thought 'hmmm, that one looks out of sorts', but I was pressed for time (funny how we feel pressed for time on someting that has no time limits), and just kind of skipped over my doubt. Ah well, will edit it on my DA page.

Everyone's influence map should just be me.

And is larger than most of the artists

I'd put up my influence map but I somewhat wonder if a picture of a bottle of Jack Daniels would get mod-smacked...

It would be next to a Coke bottle!

Sure. The imagery from WWII has always struck me as quite stunning. It was, of course, a horrific time in history, but it was also one of the first times that modern media recording was used on that scale. I grew up watching documentaries about it, and I think it influenced my art.

Likewise, tales of mythology and 'the gods' has always made me wonder about the lines between heroes, legends, and history.

Hope that helps clarify it a bit.

Going to agree with Juggertha here as well. You only have to look at the volume of propaganda images that were produced during the Second World War. Some of them remain iconic to this day. It's also not difficult to see the 'modern mythology' imagery that some of the WWII posters try to convey - particularly those that came of the Third Reich and Soviet Union - a lot of super soldier and super peasant/laborer posters that deliberately set out to invoke patriotic fervor through the emulation of 'mythical' ideals.

Anyway, taking my thinking hat off and putting my visual appreciation hat back on.

Love all the influence sheets that have been presented so far, particularly the writing influence ones!

That makes more sense. When I read it at first, I thought you meant the war itself, like, "World War 2 changed my life!!" and I didn't know what the ****.

Well Joe Pimetels work I only know from the Thundercats Return book.. however I loved the look. And as awsome as Tony Daniels artwork is.. its nearly IMPOSSIBLE to find good copys of it online, a shame considering how great it is.

I get extra points for putting the Little Mermaid right next to Urotsukidoji, and poor Crysta from Ferngully dosent seem to like being next to Jim Lees Psylocke from Xmen to much. I was able to fit everything in.. even energy drinks and vidio games.. though I shoulda saved the file as a bigger size like everyone else :*(
