  1. As long as Caemgen doesn't feel like he got ripped-off, it's all good.

  3. Just a bump as a reminder of my availability for commissions.. I've run into a bit of a financial snag, and as a result I'm feeling pretty flexible about commission prices right now.

So if you were thinking about getting something, now would be a good time

    Thanks,

  4. I'm an artist.

There is no art on display in my entire home. Not even a photograph.

It's a little troubling because people usually surround themselves with things that they want others to know about themselves and things that reflect qualities that they see (or want to see) in themselves.

...so if I'm surrounded by nothing, then...?

It's actually more troubling now that I've given it a few minutes of thought
  5. I've been really happy with Squarespace. Eventually I will get a site built from the ground up the way I want it...but for getting a personal site up and running and looking nice quickly.... yeah it's a good way to go.

...unless you're looking for something that is free.

Well those were collateral damage Changing the breast structure required it... as for the choker, I removed it because a fellow over on conceptart.org did a paint-over to show me his thoughts on improving the chest, and his paint-over got rid of the choker for clarity. I saw that and immediately liked having that collar bone popping up a bit, so I went with it.

What confuses me is that you said it reads better except the breasts... but the chest structure was the part that I was deliberately trying to improve. Ok maybe I'm not confused by that so much as I am saddened

Anyways I'm going to edit my previous post of the image with a few touch-ups instead of posting the image all over again. But from this point forward I will force myself to not touch the image again. I just realized that I have never done a landscape in my entire life, so I need to move on to that and stop dwelling on this one.

Except? But that was the only thing I changed

You are correct about the shadow of the hammer... I did make a shadow for that, and I suspect that somewhere in my photoshop file is a layer that I hid a while ago and forgot to turn on.
  8. After some consulting over at conceptart.org:

Yes, in theory. It can be done through a method called "eyepiece projection", where the camera (with it's own lens intact) is pointed directly into the eyepiece, focused to infinity. Some still astrophotography is done this way... if fact my first attempts at astrophotography were done using this method.

The problem that you will run into is getting the camera to stay fixed and pointed directly into the eyepiece. There are special eyepiece projection mounts that you can buy for $30-40 which will accomplish this task by essentially holding the camera up to the eyepiece, however I think they are designed for small point-and-shoot cameras.
  10. Good news!

Andrew Loomis books are available for FREE in pdf format. For those unfamiliar with Loomis, these books are well-regarded in drawing circles as some of the best on the subject.

Specifically to IB, you'll want to grab the "Drawing the Head & Hands" and "Figure Drawing for All it's Worth". The others are worth downloading too though...and since they're free, why not?

And pay no mind to the date of publication - his drawing books are still very relevant today.
  11. I am not able to submit art to the Feb gallery. Only the Jan gallery is open for me.

Apologies for the alliteration.

Learn the way of the old masters, and you'll be able to do anything you want. You can check my progress at my DeviantArt page, linked to a sketch due to having some nudes on the front page currently.
This this this, a million times this.

I'm actually thinking of seeing if I can get in on a life drawing course at a local college, just because it's the best kind of drawing practice. Nothing beats drawing from a live model. And asking someone to model for you can be kind of awkward, it's easier to just go to a class.
  13. This is the master class in art.

    I mean that, honestly.

On a more practical level, however, I would recommend anything with Jason Manley. His artwork is good, though it's not really my favorite at Massive Black, I think that probably goes to Noxizmad.

    HOWEVER

The guy knows his ****. Seriously. To me he really embodies everything that a good artist is, in terms of understanding the language that we, as artists, are working with, and his art history...where we are and how we got here.

  15. Wooooooo it works, just tested audio and video...the only problem is that it really highlights how incredibly squeaky my chair is.

Anyways you can go watch 3 minutes of intense beauty that is my glorious screensaver.

I have no idea how to get rid of all the lower-third garbage
  16. Ok I tried to give her assets a little bump to break up the planes of the chest and breasts

In other news, I noticed that Livestream now supports dual displays on Macs (before I couldn't get it to record on the cintiq, so it was pretty worthless for me), so I think I'd like to try doing that sometime if anyone is interested. I love talking about art.

Those pictures are fantastic. I have so much trouble getting any color or detail into my pictures. normally have to drag them through photoshop to get the black and color right, like i said i'm working with a $100 scope and in the city at the time, so those don't help. Also doesn't help when the camera you're using is a 3mpxl point and shoot. Very impressive.
Yes for planetary images you really have to use a webcam or some other sort of CCD. I bought a webcam from Phillips, the SPC900NC, took off the lens and replaced it with an adapter that allows it to plug into the scope like a regular eyepiece. It's a full color camera, which is not great for astrophotography because you lose detail when the channels are combined. So I also have a monochrome CCD camera... I shoot that through color filters to get each of the color channels (r, g, b, and sometimes luminance) then combine them in photoshop.

But the idea of using a webcam is simple... air turbulence causes the image you are seeing/imaging to be distorted. Recording a video, instead of taking single frames at a time, allows you to get around that by capturing lots of frames in a very short time. Then you simply use software (Registax) to grab the best frames and make your image from that.

I guess I continue to be mostly self taught.
Keep an eye on Conceptart.org, every so often they cut the prices of their classes in half, from $90 USD to $45. I think the classes usually run 3-4 hours.

I -really- wanted to be done with this one oh well
  20. I would like to take this opportunity to inform everyone of my availability for commissions. You can message me here or on DA, but would strongly urge people to go through the new thing I added to my website.

After a rotten two-weeks I'm finally moved into my new place and now I've actually got room to have a genuine work studio

I was thinking that I just wanted some panties on the ground

Liberty wasn't an option because I didn't want any actual nudity. Plus, I don't think there's any rules against going commando when you spank someone.. just do what feels right
