The January 2010 FArt Battle
Yeah, and Foo didn't have the unfair advantage of knowing the theme a few weeks ahead of time. And he CERTAINLY didn't already receive next month's theme. No, surely not. I wouldn't recommend trying to torture the information out of him or anything like that. Or me. Because its not like I'm planned up through June thus far.

It doesn't seem to be hurting her, lord.
Hmmm, you must be made of sterner stuff! Get THE COMFY CHAIR!!!!
anyone close to being done?
I'm at the 'rough sketch' phase
I am working on mine right now. not close to being done though.
Considering you still have, what, two weeks to go, that's probably not cause for alarm.
Yeah, its like two weeks and change to get it in by the 22nd at midnight. I guess less change for Juggy and Eddy as they're halfway around the world ^.^
Good thing there is so much time left. I am going to need it!
I have individual roughs complete and a thumbnail to lay it all out... now it's just figuring out how the piece will come together (which would probably be a lot easier to do digitally than shuffling individual pieces of paper around trying to make stuff line up ) and deciding how "greek" I want to go with it.
Then a final redraw on paper and then scan it in and do any small touchups.
..when rubbed the trophy will play "beans beans the musical fruit" song translated into Klingon..

Post 'em somewhere and link here, usually.
To have your entries included on the dA group, please submit them there yourself! I'll only submit entries to that group for players who don't have a dA account... which is just plain silly since they're free and all. I want the credit for views to pieces in the group to go to the artists.
Submit them right to the FArt Competition section, but we'll fix it behind the scenes if it goes astray. I can also take your pieces out if they don't meet the contest guidelines, so don't think that its a way to skirt the rules!
If you do not have a dA account, please email your submission to me via wassy@wassyart.com so I can also get your piece here, into the dA group, and on the mirror on my web page. Frost has devised programming specifically to credit the artists in this special gallery, rather than myself.
I strongly encourage all FArticipants to use dA to put up their pieces, as that way I can make absolutely sure that I can post all entries to this thread, my site, and the City of Heroes group!
If you can't advise me via this thread that you have an entry due to no longer holding an account, note me on dA at lilwassu or send me an email to wassy@wassyart.com
Should we put my piece in there or would that be too confusing?
I didn't put your piece in there since it wasn't a part of the competition proper, and could be confusing, yes.
I figured I'd keep your samples to each month's main post =)
Okay...so the easiest way is to upload into dA then submit it onto the FArt folder then you will post them on the voting thread.
Sweet. still not gonna be first. |
Aww, come on!

Okay so do we have to be in the "City of Heroes Group thing on DA" then to get the submission into DA the right way if so I need an invitation or whatever?
Also is it possible to post something up and then add to it by the deadline (like happened last year) or will that mess things up this year with things being mirrored to multiple sites.
Reason I ask is I would like to post just to have it up and out of the way but if I find more time, I may want to add more to it or fix up some things. So yeah once you post a piece are you locked in or is everything still fair game until the deadline?
Or I could just submit at the last minute like everyone else.

It would be in everyone's best interest to post your piece as soon as you're finished, because if I see something that would disqualify the piece, I will let you know. That way, you might have time to fix it.
With the way dA works, you can edit your deviations after you post them with an updated file. So yes, you would be able to get something in for the deadline, but spiffy it up some more before I gather the pieces together for final screening/judging.
I won't put the pieces onto my site until after the deadline, which will ensure I'll only be getting your final piece.
I think that all works out.
So you need to submit your entry twice, once in your own gallery and to the group?
Scooter, I will gladly be the first if you can wait till the end of the week. I only got started on the actual piece yesterday, but I did a lot of studies before starting, so here's hoping it will turn out good. Should be able to meet the hot chick requirement anyway...

I gotta start thinking about my February piece...
So you need to submit your entry twice, once in your own gallery and to the group?

You submit it to your own gallery as a deviations - ie upload it.
Next you submit it to the group page... There's no uploading per se in this step, it just lets the site know the deviation should be able to be seen from there as well.
I believe that is correct.
