The January 2010 FArt Battle

yeah the CoH group is cool, it auto automatically does all the linking and stuff.

I am still tweaking and fixing.

I think I am going a different route than everyone else. With it being winter and all that plus the winter Olympics starting next month I went that route. I just couldn't get an image in my head I liked for the traditional "Olympic" games.

Winter Olympics is still Olympics. I actually also did Olympics because of the upcoming Winter Games!

And Lousy_Day: Dunno if this is the same for everyone in the group, but when I go to submit my deviations to my page, I now have the option of also putting the deviation right into the group, too! There's a drop-down with all the different areas of the group, and you should be able to select the FArt folder right at that point. Pretty snazzy.

That must be new cause I don't have that option I don't think

WOOT!

Just finished mine.

Excellent. Don't keep us in suspense!

I've actually got an idea I rather like for this topic... If I can pull it off at least half decently I may even show it

...So the finished pieces are going to be available at http://cityofheroes.deviantart.com/gallery/?23928903, right? Or am I looking in the wrong place?

I just rushed over to see Juggertha's entry and was saddened to see that he hadn't posted it yet.

Yeah, entrants should be submitting their pieces into the group area. Its better for the artists to submit their own pieces from their dA accounts, so all views and personal acclaim can go to their pages =)

Posted

Um Wassy...It won't let me submit it to the FArt gallery...

I guess I was kicked out before it even started

Posted

I don't see it in your own gallery. Have you uploaded it yet?

Posted

I did but I don't want it just there if I can't get it into the FArt entry.

or am I confused on how it works?

We sent you an invite to be a FArt-icipant in the group. You should be able to submit once you accept.

For everyone else - Bayani has changed the JANUARY FArt Comp folder permissions so anyone can submit to it. For subsequent months, only those artists that participated in January will be able to submit.

Wewt!!!

Thanks for taking the plunge and being the first to get their work up!

You should post it in here, too. Get everyone else moving their behinds ^.^

Seriously, wth was the reluctance in going first? That is awesome and easily the best piece I can remember you doing...

Great work Scooter! That's a striking piece.

Um.. yeah, I'm contemplating if I should load mine up now or not. I was always one of the first to load thiers up, and I was never sure if that hurt or helped me.

Post yours please, Juggy! It's too much pain to wait for a piece I know is finished. If you submit early, if someone has the same idea as you, you know you weren't affected by their work. Ironically, I'm doing figure skating, too...

I have nothing against strategizing... But is it neccessary in a month without an elimination? Only reason I can see for it this month is so as not to scare off competition...

nice work scoots

atleast you have weeks worth of studies on your DA proving you had be planning figure skating LD looking forward to seeing your finished piece

Mine is.... looking like I am going to need to simplify. I have had alot of color work that has to take priority. so... yeah, Ill see what comes of it.

okies...

here goes

Manticore's Games - Panels have always been my weak point, but I figured I'd try to work on that, and have a little fun with it. Here's Manticore (CoH) at his favorite Olympic event - girl hunting

Bwahaha, good way to work in the hot chick! Very nice work, Juggy. And its nice to see you challenged yourself by choosing a composition that you know gives you trouble. I think that also is in the spirit of the games!

I concur with Wassy's "bwahaha".

Very cool idea, and great execution.
