For some reason, this vid did made me think about how easy it might be to make an Avatar-looking toon, not that I'd care to. Can't imagine I'm the first.

Fantastic!

I have to say the scorned female segments were my favorite... very nice touch, especially the Sister Psyche one.

As I mentioned earlier, I think, adding in the "he's taken" segments were a last minute idea, but they turned out sooooo much better than I could have hoped.

To be honest, the thought DID cross my mind, but Blake knows and respects Tava too much to pull a stunt like that. Besides, Tava and Posi have their own video coming up.

What we would like and what is feasible given your constraints may be two different issues! You will probably be given a request that is the video equivalent of a cure for cancer, given how well you do already.

This video was fantastic, but let me elaborate. Michelle, you have a gift in the way you assemble these videos in your use of TIMING.

What is more, you can bat from either side of the plate. You excel at DRAMATIC Timing (the Midnight Hour video being a fine example) and, as this video demonstrates, COMEDIC Timing. You not only play up archetypal behavior in the Male/Female arena, you have a deft hand at repetition for comedic effect.

You used a song that was well-suited for the video; personally, that is what counts, not whether I would want to hear it another 1,000 times. You were able to emphasize the point (the avatar may not look much like the player, but who will ever know?) will a fine eye for the funny aspects.

There were many nice touches in the magazine cover, the to-do list, the synchronized dancing/movements and the reactions of the gals. That takes skillz, and you haz them.

And it all boils down to: A good-looking female avatar will draw the attention of the men. To quote Hobbes from the very first Calvin and Hobbes strip, "We're kind of stupid that way."

Bravo! Bravo!

I have to concur. Its the little things that turn a decent effort into a great one. One of my favorite fan videos to this day is the I Need a City of Heroes from like June '04. (Actually, given that it was shot with video recording and not with current demo editing, the timing is all the more impressive: the double-shot at 1:35 was a ridiculous stroke of luck according to the author if I remember correctly).

I like DR's Avatar video for similar reasons. It takes the story of the soundtrack and tells it visually in time with the music, and it does so simply (in visual terms) but very evocatively.

In general, I like DR's videos because they tend to have a point, a story to tell, and they get there right away. And they show strong editing: they are as good for what's not in them as they are for what actually is in them. They are no longer than they need to be to tell the story they are intended to tell. They aren't there to show off the techniques of the author. Everything in it is there to serve the story. That tends to make them very clean and interesting to watch.
