Going Rogue Expansion

Quick question as I was unable to find the answer elsewhere. Once GR expansion becomes available, does anyone know if this will this be a "downloadable" expansion for those that already have CoX or does one have to physically go out and buy the CD to download? And, with that being said, does anyone have an approximate cost for this expansion pack?

It will be a paid expansion, but I would count on you being able to buy it digitally as well as in a box at retail.

As for the cost; they haven't said anything yet.

As far as I know I haven't seen anything on what exactly it is going to be.It probably will be like the content that has already been released(downloadable).

No idea on price either, yet it would probably be smart to release it in stores also.Maybe to attract more customers.I'm afraid we are still in the dark as to what is going to happen.

As with the previous "expanshalone," City of Villains, as well as the Super Boosters, I expect the GR content to be part of the standard client for everyone. Purchasing the code, whether it be via physical box or online NCShop, is what unlocks the ability to interact with the rest of the content.

We already know that at least some of GR's assets will be visible to non-purchasers (Praetorian villains will be getting visual revamps). It's just that non-purchasers will not be able to utilize the GR system or visit Praetoria to take part in all the new content.

That information is currently unknown.

Did you know that if you get sidekicked by someone 40 levels over you, you end up -4 to their level?

All kidding aside, probably a map of the new Praetorian zones.

You know what's funny? If they announce anything before beta starts, it will probably be something like this. It's needed, but it's completely minor in the grand scheme of things.

<Waits for Positron to announce this like it's important to the current player base.>

Yeah. I saw that. And I can't wait to hit 32 with my grav 'troller. He'll be able to fold space and teleport the ENTIRE team! That'll sure be one heck of a valuable powah, uh huh!

You know honestly, I made my grav/FF controller looking forward to that power. It was a concept character more than anything else though.

That makes two of us actually... Why it sticks in my memory so strongly. But at least with assemble team we can sort of kind of fake it now.

How about that Team Teleport power in the Teleportation pool?

Concept aside, there's only a few edge cases where it's actually useful. This is more a limitation of the game engine than the concept of the power being all that bad IMO, but still i can't recall the last time i saw someone who took it and used it.

Dr. Todt's theme.

Remains to be seen if EU will get a box this time though. Architect Edition was download only on the EU side.

Fold Space was "pull teammates from away, to me" like a multi-Recall Friend. Like Assemble the Team.

Team Teleport is "take teammates that are standing very close to me with me as I teleport a few yards away". Almost the opposite of Fold Space/Assemble.

Technically the opposite of Fold Space would be to teleport allies near you to random places on the map.

...Now THAT would be an awesome tier 9 power!

I'm willing to go out on a limb and say the following:

1) You will be able to buy the code for the expansion from the NCSoft store and Steam as well as other digital retailers.

2) A "Going Rogue" edition will be available that includes the whole client, plus probably some in-game swag.

3) The cost of the basic digital download and the basic box will be $39.99.

4) There will be a Collector's Edition which will include the whole client, the digital swag and some physical toy (figurine, map, coin, etc.). It will come in a big box (thus helping to destroy the earth) and cost between $59.99-64.99. If most of the additional swag is digital, there might be an option to download the code from NCSoft, Steam, et. al.

5) The marginal cost of the items in the Collector's Edition will be less than $5. But you will pay anyway!

How do I know this? I don't. These are just educated guesses based on industry benchmarks.

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

Possible, but then again they haven't even updated the tips on the loading screens that are now outdated so who knows.

were i to guess, i'm thinking you will be correct on this. new game price tends towards 49.99-59.99, expansions tend to be39.99. also likely on the collectors edition which will be the one i puchase, despite the fact that my cov figure(didnt get the collectors ed that time, so only one) is currently collecting dust on my shelf.

Which ones are outdated?

Edit: Besides these:

  • Playing in Supergroup Mode earns your Supergroup Prestige and base salvage with which to purchase and upgrade their base.
  • Check out the latest issue of the City Scoop on the City of Heroes forums. City Scoop is a fan-created newsletter all about the "City of" games.
  • When you Sidekick/Lackey to someone you fight at one level below their combat level, but with your powers and enhancements.
  • When you Exemplar/Malefactor to someone you fight at their combat level, losing access to powers you gained after that level. You will stop gaining XP, instead gaining double Influence/Infamy
  • At level 15 and again at level 30 you can choose a special title for your character. NOTE: This information is incorrect: see titles!
  • A Hero Corps representative or Fateweaver can make your missions tougher for you, for a price.
  • If any members of a team are below 5 levels of the highest level character in the team, they may not receive experience without being sidekicked/lackeyed.
  • If any members of a team are above 5 levels of the lowest level character in the team, they may cause the entire team to not gain experience, until they are exemplared/malefactored.
  • Spawns within mission instances scale to the size of your team. Want more enemies? Form a bigger team!
  • "Toggle" powers can be turned on and left running, but will drain Endurance. If you run out of endurance, or are stunned, held, or slept, these powers will be deactivated.
  • Positron was severely injured in the first Rikti war, losing control of his powers. In order to keep the city safe, he had to seal himself inside of his power armor.
(I didn't look at the MA ones. Not my area of expertise. And I left off the ones which, while not outdated, aren't very... precise. Also, this is Wiki's list which may itself be outdated and the ones above are already updated in-game.)
