Is this against the TOS?

There was somebody in Cap yesterday charging a million infamy per farm run, he got a lot of flack for it.

Just was curious if this was discouraged.

Not really. It's really lame, though.

There're no rules that I am aware of against charging ingame currency/items for ingame services/items.

1 million per run sounds pretty cheap compared to old amounts.

total kick to the gut

This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.

yea last time i was in GV the average pay per farm run was sitten around 5-10 mil depending on the map. But no its not against the rules as its been going on since Pre CoV and if it was the devs have done nothing to anyone to try and stop it.

Exchanging any item or action in the game for any other item or action in the game is fine - but any exchange that involves real money is not allowed.

My 50 Mastermind used to charge a fee to join pugs. He was a mercenary and evil. He also preferred soloing and the fee was to compensate him for having to put up with other people.

It's not against the TOS, but it's generally frowned upon for various reasons.

You mean I could pay him to be my friend?

To the OP:

If that farmer is charging 1 mil per run and you get the ticket cap each run, you can get quite a bit of inf for doing nothing. I'd probably have rolled a lowbie and transferred 10 mil over and gotten a nice pile of tickets. 1500 tickets is almost 3 pieces of orange salvage.

But then again, I like playing as an evil villain...

edit: I mean opportunist.

You are kidding! Wow!

I need to make all my toons look like sexy females, as they get invited to that kind of thing [free] by creepy fire/kin types.

Bummer. I was wondering how many friends a couple billion inf bought...

Was it uphill both ways in the snow, Grampa?

I remember failing a fortune teller mission back in the day after getting a team of 8!

That's right. And we were so poor we had to get up to go to work a half hour before we went to sleep.

Fixed that for ya!
I never charged for badge missions and would always announce them on the global channels.

I think I got cussed out once for doing that.

"Fortune Teller mish! 7s/XX mil apiece!"

So I did something like "Fortune Teller Mish! 7s/Good time had by all for no charge each!".

The devs don't really care if someone wants to charge influence/infamy, since it has no connection with real money. (or isn't supposed to at least)

Players do tend to give people crap for doing it, because it really is kind of lame.

Now, if the guy were telling you to send money to his PayPal account, he could and probably would get banned for it when someone reported him.

On Freedom, this is pretty common. During the days of AE Boss Farms, you sometimes saw people charging up to 5-10 million for a 52 or 54 boss run.

When someone tried it on Protector, though, there was a general outcry in AP

That was one of the things I hated about Guild Wars... no one would team to help you out in a mission unless you paid them.. I thought "screw that!"

I remember being surprised when someone broadcast they were looking for it and they and their friend came on mine and he paid me for it. I told him it wasn't necessary but he said he didn't know what else to do with his influence (also a pre-I9 thing).

I never asked for money (for Fortune Teller pre-Ouro) but I did have teammates offer after the mission was done.

I never asked when I had it, but I think I recall paying to team for Fortune Teller. Some people have tipped me in the past.

Whats funny is people are willing to pay just to farm or sit at a door to a mission.

Why do you sub a game if you don't want to play it?
