Super Booster IV: Ninja?

Ive heard rumours that the natural themed super booster coming up is ninja related, a friend told me that in the files was a string that had the word "Ninja_Helmet" and a power that comes with it that grants motionless stealth.

Has anybody got any more information or rumours about this?


A total of 14 of my nerves have been harmed in the making of this post...

I cannot find any reference to "Ninja_Helmet", or anything close (the nearest thing I could find was the Oni's head)

However, I did find a reference to an inherent power called "Shadowy Presence", which matches your description of the stealth power. 5s interrupt, 5min duration, 10min recharge, enough StealthRadius to be invisible to anything but snipers, and gets suppressed if you move, attack, get attacked, or click a glowy. And it's a click, so when it's suppressed it's suppressed until it recharges.

TBH, it doesn't sound particularly useful...

That does sound particularly useless. Even moreso than SD. If you can't move at all AND it's interruptable with a long cast time, what could you possibly use it for?

Maybe if there was a mission in which stealth was a literal requirement, rather than just a good suggestion. I remember similar quests in Guild Wars and Champions: Return to Arms, where if you didn't stealth past the patrols, you either got infinite ambushes or insta-ganked. But I don't see that happening in this game, particularly when patrols break so often, and with the power being in a for-purchase pack. (Assuming Shadowy Presence is in fact in SB4)

would the act of getting teleported by an ally suppress your stealth?

Doesn't make sense either considering the power as being discussed here supresses if you move. Unless the mission requires you to use stealth AND be completely motionless, it still seems pretty useless.

Yesh about the helmet thing, I think he said he was verifying his files and the words Ninja_Helmet.Piggs or something like that came up. The stealth power would be useful if they put an AoE placate and an Ambush-Resistant stealth (tired of getting attacked while "Hidden")

The Devs are so secretive about this one...

If this is actually the case, I would propose that it be changed as follows: Toggle, 5s interrupt, 5 min recharge, 65-70' stealth radius, Self -jump, Self -fly, Self -max runspeed (roughly equivalent to rooted, maybe even slower, and since it affects your CAP, you can't be buffed to be faster), stealth (but not movement penalty) suppresses if you attack, get attacked or click a glowie.

This way, it would be semi-useful, but not really. Honestly, even if you have the patience to stealth missions at Rooted speed when alone, no team or TF is likely to wait for it, and your XP/min will go down even more than if you were stealthing normally.

As it stands, this would be even more useless than the "power" included in the Science booster. At least that one can be used for RP. This one, I can't see any use for at all.

Incidentally, the previous Super Boosters (the true standalone ones, not the ones released alongside other versions of the game, like the mac pack) have been based of an origin. Cyborg was tech origin, mystic is magic origin, and super science is, well, science. I would expect the next Super Booster to be based off of either mutants or natural origin. So while the ninja stuff might be a part of it, I doubt it would be the entire booster.

Thats what I was gonna say. I know the cat girls have been DYING for tails that swish and figured that would be in a Mutant pack. Or at least I had heard that discussed anyway. Not by Devs (I don't think) but I did hear the critters you summon with the new MM bit have tails that swish. So perhaps.

Given our complaining, they may well change the power before release.

Although I can imagine that kind of stealth power being great for going afk and not coming back to find a dead character.

It would be Natural - notice no two consecutive SB's have shared DOs.
