Where's Dominatrix In All Of This?

We see so much talk about Tyrant/Emporer Cole, along with three new-skinned Praetorians; Mother Mayhem, Neuron, and Marauder... But I'm not interested in them. I'm interested in Dominatrix (in more ways than I can discuss on these forums.)

By her description in her arcs, she's obviously Cole's main squeeze; and between having someone like that around, being Emporer to a pristine city, and being nigh immortal, Cole's got a lot to smile over.

Will Dominatrix play a big role in Cole's empire? Will she be a sort of right-hand woman to him? Will she stay in the background? I've got so many questions about this person that seems so closely tied to Emporer Cole, but has so little information, aside from being about as Kinky as Silver Mantis.

Will she be getting a revamp into something more 'tame'? It always seemed like she was a bit much for a T-rated game, but I'm not complaining. And is she still Cole's granddaughter? It would seem that the description of her:
"She caught Tyrants attention and been serving him loyally, in all capacitieser since."
is just a bit creepy. It would seem that between such a description and her attire (or lack thereof) would mean only the obvious.

So many more questions I could fire off, but I'd like to see if the community can answer anything just yet, or even what to hope for.

There's no evidence of Dominatrix actually being Cole's granddaughter. She is the daughter of Praetoria's Miss Liberty, but it's not known if that Miss Liberty was of any relation to Praetorian Marcus Cole. Since Praetorian Earth is no longer the "Mirror-Mirror" version of Primal Earth, it can easily be stated that Dominatrix and Tyrant are not related should the devs want to take it in that direction.

Positron: "There are no bugs [in City of Heroes], just varying degrees of features."

Which would continue to be amusing without getting anyone into any particular trouble.

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

The word "minefield" was in there somewhere IIRC.

Remember kids, reading is fundamental. Especially on the forums.

Pffft. Just because she hasn't met Silver Mantis yet. Those two are made for each other.

Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.

With all of the Praetorians being given new looks for GR I can't wait to see Domi's new outfit.

Also, am I the only one who thinks she deserves a cooler powerset than Gravity? Throwing furniture at people is just odd (especially when you're outdoors) and now that there's going to be a whip animation...

I'd be surprised if she wasn't given her own whip-based powers.

But to imply there's this incestuous grandfather/granddaughter thing going on is something I'd imagine the devs would want to steer as far away from as possible.

My solution? Give Praetorian 'Ms. Liberty' a whole new alter ego, and put Dominatrix into the form of someone else... Mirror Spirit?

In fact, to me, Mirror Spirit seems pretty fitting; Marcus Cole goes to fight in the Korean War and gets entangled with a woman. When they get back to the States, they do whatever it is Emporers and women do, and she becomes Dominatrix!
Of course, the new Praetorian version of Ms. Liberty may or may not care that grandaddy is moving on from grandma... Who I can assume died somewhat long ago (and considering she died at 76, and Marcus is still young and spry, I can't imagine the 'good times' lasted as long, either.)

Of course, I'm just throwing things out, now.

...Except that the comic books are canon, and they firmly establish that Domi is Ms. Liberty's Praetorian counterpart, and all but cement her other...ah...roles in canon, too.

Yeah the comic books do give rather large 'hints' that she does serve Grandpa in 'every capacity'.

If I were in the devs' shoes I would've put in a touch more foresight.

I can really see it, though, they just didn't think things through.

"So, this girls Anti-Liberty... Like Enslavement... But badder. She's gotta be, because Ms. Liberty's like 2nd in command already kinda."
"Like a dominator?"
"No, like a female dominator."
"A femdominator?"
*facepalm*
"I was thinking of a Dominatrix."
"Oh, cool."
"And she serves Tyrant."
"Duh."
"But gets it on with him, too."
"Huh?"
"Well, c'mon, he's a Praetorian lord and gets to boff his hot 2nd in command!"
"Sounds good."

They just forgot to equate the relationship in this whole field. I'm not hating on the devs, I'm really not, but this is something that can be a bit of a turn-off to a lot of players... Possibly a turn-on to some, but to others, it makes them go "Uhh... Err... Not touchin' that. No way."

The comic books are secondary canon though.

I don't think they ever forgot the relationship between the two. The controversial aspect of their relationship is never stated explicitly, and with the way they're portraying Emperor Cole, my guess is that part of their relationship still remains intact in canon, it's just much more of a secret in Praetoria.

Eh. They corroborate implications given in-game. It may be ret-conned out, but I think leaving the implications there will be more interesting. Emperor Cole's trying to do the right thing by folks, despite really being a scumbag has some fascinating torque to it, and really hammers home the duology of good for the individual versus good for the society.

The game is rated T for violence and suggestive themes, and since all there is is the suggestion of something going on I don't see the need for any retcon.

All the devs have to do is keep it subtle, include a knowing comment or some mission subtext that'll only be noticed by players who care about the lore , while doing nothing that overtly acknowledges anything. Which is pretty much how it works at the moment anyway.

Sometimes the more sublte is a bit more fun anyway. Look at Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver in The Ultimates. It all went to hell at the same time as the incest was revealed. May not be a direct relation there, but it did happen.

Personally, I don't need to see them Statesman Jr-Punch the thing out of canon. So long as they stay away from showing them going at it on the Praetorian Presidential table, I'd say it's ok. Well, not "ok" but it works within the context of the game.

@craggy see me on Union for TFs, SFs (please!) or just some good ol fashioned teaming.

Yeah, I've seen that video, have it saved somewhere. No, wait, I'm just kidding. I know exactly where.

Got that one too. Maybe I can splice them together....

Hmm, probably shouldn't post this. Where's that Cancel button?

In that case, my guess that her mother rejected Tyrant after he killed Recluse, and married someone else, which produced Domi, and then Tyrant got into a relationship with her as a way of getting back at her mother, and being with the likeness of her mother at the same time probably won't happen - looks like the devs want to keep it as gross as possible
