Loved both those books. I always wanted to write Justice Machine (seems unlikely now).

I have to agree. This was one of the best comic series I have ever read.

"I never said thank you." - Lt. Gordon

"And you'll never have to." - the Dark Knight

I found Fables quite interesting so I'll be sure to check out his arc. As for the funny guys, meh. I've never found lol-sy arcs to sit well with me anyway.

Do I get to fight Saker, Ratman, Behemoth, Electrocutioner, Shapeshifter, and Chrysalis? 2 Moldy Oldy points to the people who get that one...

Edit: Doh! Beat to the punch on the Elementals references!

Infamy: SS/DA Brt, Brushfire Bill: Fire/Thorn Dom, Kill and Tell: Ninja/Trap MM, Dark Duelist: MA/DA Stk, Howling Rad: Rad/Sonic Cor, Silent Rebuke: Claw/EA Stk, Shadow Technician: Dark/Trap Cor, Forbidden Brute: DM/Fire Brt, Doctor Exile: Grav/Thorn Dom, Eternal Warrior: Mace/SD Brt, Electrogravitic: Grav/Elec Dom, Huntsman Gold: Bane, Captain Chill: AR/Cold Cor

Scott Kurtz is indirectly responsible for my working here, believe it or not. One day way back when, he posted a link to this game he had heard of called "City of Heroes" on his site and I've been following the game since, first as a fan and later as a developer.

Rooster Teeth? Well, those guys are just Awesome!
You know, I have the PVPOnline comic book that shipped with the DVD version (I think it was) of City's box, and remember the comic he did where they called up Jack Emmert and asked when the game would be out for the Mac. I felt compelled to write Scott when the Mac client dropped.

Odd I don't remember the contradiction. I'll have to see if I can still find the rulebook somewhere. I'm pretty sure I still have it.

As I recall the formula was:
((str/10)^3 + end/10)*weight/2

If there was a written passage that contradicted this, I probably missed it.

I used to love that game. I played it off and on for quite a few years.

Too many alts to list.

I'm looking forward to running the current and future Guest Author arcs.

Where do I send my contribution to the Gail Simone Writes An Arc Fund?
Yes yes on Gail Simone...that would be great.

Willingham is also on the new JSA writing team, along with his regular collaborator Matt Sturges (reminds me, I am WAY behind on House of Mystery). I wonder if a Sturges arc could follow...

Super Packs Done Right
Influence Sink: IO Level Mod/Recrafting

The Elementals was the first "independant" comic I ever bought, and I think I still have all the issues. I really wish "Coventry" had lasted longer - that too was a fun little book.

I can think of few comics writers I'd be as excited to see write a MA Arc as Bill Willingham. Peter David maybe, as well as J. M. DeMatteis and Warren Ellis. Looking forward to playing this!

I really liked Bill's Clockwork Storybook and Coventry stuff. (In addition to all his other stuffs).

I did manage to calculate carrying capacity properly, but my father ( a math professor at the time) helped me find the proper way to calculate, heh. That was what, 25 years ago?

I'm really glad you got some 'guest authors' to write some stuff.

Do I detect a hint of sarcasm? I love the guest writer program and I've played all their arcs and they are each very impressive in their own way but there are literally thousands of good arcs out there, yours probably among them, that I despair ever being able to get around to playing. No shortage of content anymore for this game. It would be nice if the Devs could manage to expand the DeV Choice list sometime though.

This whole idea of guest writers is fantastic. It's good for the game and good for the writers, too. I wouldn't now any of these guys' work prior to them writing their arcs. Now I've heard of them and have done some internet seach work to learn who they are. Judging from this thread and some ingame chatting I saw last night, there are a lot of players who like me, are learning about these people for the first time. I'd like to see more of this. A lot more.

I gotta make pain. I gotta make things right. I gotta stop what's comin'. 'Least I gotta try.

I couldn't finish the Scott Kurtz one. The boss that spawns from the clickie, in what I assume was the last mission, never showed up (or I couldn't find him somehow) and I had to drop out of the arc because I couldn't finish it.

Shred, that's exactly the kind of post the folks who did those arcs would love to hear. I think it's a great way of exposing CoH and the work of the authors to a new audience.

Hey, has Nakayama done an arc yet? Get him in here!

No, no sarcasm intended. I happen to think that those who write for a living might have a better grasp of the intricacies involved in creating an adequate weave capable of ensnaring one's imagination and send it into wondrous flights of fancy.

So far, I've done the first of Rooster Teeth's arcs (and am a bit disappointed I didn't get to touch his awesome button) and Bill Willingham's arc. I quite enjoyed them despite the typos present and graded both with 4 stars and comments.

I quit doing other people's arcs a while ago as I have no patience to sift through the farms and the immense pile of derivative, inane drivel that passes for a story or arc that is out there. Unless they're from acquaintances or suggested by someone I know in game, I won't touch them. That being said, I don't consider any of mine to be works of art. But I quite like them and once in a while I take them out for a spin and have even managed for some of my game acquaintances to play them.

I applaud the effort of the Guest Authors and wish the Devs could get more of these in.

Played for the quest for magic arc as the following.

AT: Scrapper
Level: 29 [60% slotted with IOs]
Powerset: Elec/fire
Difficulty settings: +0 x2

Only tried the first mission and i was constantly dying in it, might be that my character didnt have any KB protection and was thus being constantly thrown around. Initial response is that its a good arc so far, but i'll have to level my current character up a bit more before i attempt it better

@Damz Find me on the global channel Union Chat. One of the best "chat channels" ingame!

Well, for what it's worth I really like Apples of Contention - 3184, but then I'm a sucker for anything involving Greek mythology. Haven't had time to play any of your others yet. I'm curious what you think about the arcs nominated for the 2009 Player Awards over in the MA Stories & Lore sub forum? Seems like some pretty good ones to me.

Elementals and Justice Machine didn't get me into comics, but they did make me realize the horizons could be wider than what Marvel & DC were offering.

Played two so far- LOLBAT was light, amusing and fun. Mission: Awesome was also fun & engaging, but the design of the minions got on my nerves- they were dressed like those folks who hit RANDOM and choose their names by banging the keyboard with their foreheads.

Played 3 so far:

LolBat was fun and challenging. A solid arc that moves at a good pace with plenty of variety and humor. It was worth playing for the Chef costumes and bios alone! Truly inspired design.

Quest for Magic & Mission: Awesome suffered from mission design by people who don't have a good idea of what the actual player experience will translate into. The writing was good, the execution...not so much.

In Quest4M there's an automatic assumption that we want to help this girl get powers even tho we don't know her from Eve. As a player who's levelled umpteen different heroes and villains I immediately was wondering if/when she was going to betray me. There was no player motivation, you're dragged thru the story instead of revealing it.

In M:Awesome, there's nuggets of funny but you have to grind thru too many of the same powerful and bizzarely-clad minions to get to them. It felt like it was trying too hard to be obtuse yet there wasn't enough variety to keep interest for an arc that long.

Tho my reveiws weren't all sugar and roses, I do hope to see more Guest Arcs in the future. It's an interesting challenge to outside writers and fun to see if they can make the transition between mediums.

Craft your inventions in AE!!

Play "Crafter's Cafe" - Arc #487283. A 1 mission, NON-COMBAT AE arc with workable invention tables!

Haven't tried any of them. EU players weren't allowed to enter that competition so I pretty much lost any and all interest in seeing what was being submitted. Do you have a link for that sub forum? I'll take a gander at it.

(snip)
There was Carrying Capacity? <looks side to side>

I'm very jealous of the rule books. I had to get rid of my copy (under much protest) which iirc was first release to Aus.

Hmmm I wonder how much on ebay they are.
(looks like digtal version available at drivethrurpg)

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.

So sad to be ending ):
