Nine Circles of MMO Hell...

I actually chuckled, thanks for passing that on.

The only thing it needs to be a bit more applicable to CoH is a place for Those Who Would Cry DOOOOOOOOOOOOM.

Hehe, nice one... although I would definitely hate the torment of the Third Circle that I so rightfully deserve.

If it has
eyes, you can blind it, if it has blood, you can make it bleed, if it has a mouth, you can make it scream.

Could have used:
PL-beggers: Able to see, but not use the Broadcast Channel and forced to actually play thier characters, with no Patrol XP.

I think PK is already living in the third circle

Why is Altaholics a bad thing?

www.paragonwiki.com is a great source of information for this game.

In most MMOs you will never get the leet gear unless you grind, grind, grind with one character so alts slow you down.

But it wasn't too low in the circles so it wasn't viewed as that bad or as prevalent apparently.

After a certain level Paladins get a spell which makes them immune to nearly all forms of attacks. It's called Divine Protection its graphic resembles a large bubble around the pally, so WoW'ers refer to it as a "bubble"

Later in the game the duration of said buff lasts about 12/14 seconds iirc.

Hearthstone's (aka Hearthing) is used to recall yourself to your homepoint, usually an Inn somewhere in a capital city.

Hearthing takes 10 seconds, if you get hit or effected by any attack it is interrupted and the spell fails.

A pally can cast Divine Protection ("Bubble up") then cast Hearthstone without much worry to it being interrupted. Escaping pretty much any condition in PvE or PvP without death.

Thus we get BubbleHearth, the art of Hearthing under the buff of a 'bubble'.

All these kind people replying with definitions makes me think of call my bluff/the dictionary game... we need some red herrings...

In many old fantasy based MMOs the players would relax and roleplay in the inns, all sat around the hearth of the roaring fire.

As a pre-order gift one of the games gave players a bubble-blowing action (alongside ones for confetti throwing, partyhat wearing and balloon holding).

This was back when MMOs were very young, and no-one realised that griefing would be so common - the devs still hoped that players would always work together for a better common experience. Naive - but then the devs were mainly computer nerds and old-school pen & paper roleplayers...

So failing to account for griefing, the devs made the bubble-blowing action into a power rather than an emote...

Before long the griefers had realised that if they stood on the hearth and blew enough bubbles on the inn's fire they could extinguish the fire and thouroughly annoy the roleplayers.

So a Bubble Hearther is another term for someone who griefs roleplayers.

The other definitions are all rubbish - as any person of great learning knows a Bubble Hearther, pronounced as one word 'Bubb-lee-hey-Art-ah', is simply a middle English Cornish pot or vase of Greek Design which has been decorated with an image of the Incan god Tony.

Are we playing Call My Bluff?

Ok, I'll go.

It's actually a typo. It's supposed to be Bubble Herders. Posi was on to Ctrl-Alt-Del and asked them to include a space in MMO Hell for all the people who used the MA to kill missions full of Green Mitos, before they were removed. In order to get the most XP per min it made sense to herd the bubbles together so the AOEers could wipe them out as quickly as possible.

And there we have it - is a Bubble Hearther:
  • A practitioner of cowardly escapes in PvP;
  • someone who griefs roleplayers;
  • someone who farms exploits in the MA;
or is it
  • the usual sort of obscure rubbish that people make up for a definition, that always includes a few mock-specific details about Cornish or Greek Pottery?
You decide.
