Good 2ndary for Grav troller
Personally I went Gravity/Storm. As a team controller it takes a lot of practice, mainly because of the knockback portion of Storm can be problematic until you've had practice using it.
However Crushing Field and Freezing Rain are a good combo because, unlike other AoE immobilizes, it doesn't make foes resistant to knockback effects. So they will be stuck in Freezing Rain's AoE.
Storm can also provide some nice extra damage (tornado, lightening storm), a bonus to a team's defence and resistance (steamy mist), some to -tohit (hurricane) and a -recharge toggle (snow storm). There is also an okayish heal (O2 boost).
For the most part it also allows you to stay at mostly ranged (except for Thunder Clap) which is one of the plus sides of Gravity Control.
Another recommendation I would suggest is Trick Arrow because it provides a nice mix of debuffs and extra control. Also Crushing Field, Disruption Arrow and Oil Slick would be a good combo because of reasons for CF and FR. It also allows you to stay ranged as well.
Apart from those two there aren't really any sets that really don't gel with Gravity Control from what I can tell. I think the only thing to keep in mind is that one of bonuses of Grav is that it is completely ranged (as I said above) so sets that require you to be in melee kind of negate that (e.g. Kinetics)
EDIT - but saying that Kinetics may be a good choice because it will boost your damage output which is useful to counter act Gravs resisted damage type (crushing)
Gravity/Radiation and Gravity/Storm are both great combinations. Anything that can fill in Gravity's control gaps until it matures will be good. As Tired Angel points out there are some nice differences in playstyle with Gravity/Storm.
I'm a big fan of Gravity/Trick Arrow personally.
There aren't too many around, and both your primary and secondary have good single target control while you wait for the better powers. Once you get Wormhole, Oil Slick Arrow, and both ranged AoE holds slotted up you'll see why.
I was about to come on here, and suggest Grav/Storm, Grav/Rad, and possibly Grav/Trick Arrow. Looks like some folks beat me to it.

I'll put another voice behind /Rad, /Storm, and /TA.
Grav/Reroll
or
Rad, Storm & TA.

As above another vote for Storm Rad and TA.

After a long time of trying to find a Grav controller I liked, I finally found it in Grav/Storm . . . . but that's because I mainly solo him. A lot of the fun advantages to the Storm secondary paired with Grav would be hard to use on a team, because they take a while to set up.
So, for a team-oriented Grav controller, I would suggest Radiation or Trick Arrow. The ability to clump up the foes with Wormhole, immobilize them in place and then use debuffs/AoE controls would be a nice combo. As much as I love Rad, I think I would lean towards Trick Arrow because I can see a bunch of strategic advantages: Flash Arrow to allow you to get in just the right position for Wormhole, clumping for the ranged debuffs, Oil Slick Arrow's damage.

Go Grav/Kin like I did if you want to go insane . Like stubbing your toe several times in a row I tell you. I still love my Grav/kin though.

- Using one Wormhole take a spawn and place into a corner.
- Add a Crushing Field, one optionally seasoned with a few PROCs.
- Marinade the now tightly clustered enemies in an Oil Slick, making sure to coat them all thoroughly in the oil
- Using a heat source, such as the Origin Powers Apprentice Charm or Tasar Dart ignite the oil and flambe the enemies vigorously. More advanced cooks can use other sources such as a Fireball. Note how the enemies cannot escape the heat, but will continue to fall over in a slapstick fashion.
- While burning quickly add a Disruption Arrow and an Acid Arrow, to help soften the enemies further.
- Any enemies left standing after this should be beaten around the head, using whatever interesting implement Propel has decided to give you. Favourites include toilets and forklifts.
Grav/TA starts slowly (although since i16 gave a boost to levelling speeds between 5 and 25 this won't be as bad as it used to be) but from level 20 onwards basically every power is a good un. Having 2 ranged holds is nice, for dealing for bosses. Having 2 ranges AOE holds is nice for dealing with everyone else
So well put together Carnifax! I'm giving you a little point for that post alone! You guys are making me want to make another Grav toon again...I dunno can I do making a Grav/kin broke me it's been over a year since I have made another Gravity toon. I do miss my Singy though...hrmmm.
Well said, Carnifax. Excellent post, and so true
Mines was kinetic, but you can't go wrong with that.
Not one mention of pairing gravity with the new /cold? What I was thinking of...Seems like it'd work well, only drawback is having to wait so long for sleet. On the plus side you'd get to turn singy into a floating snowball.
Yeah, well it is probably pretty similar to how you would play it with Oil Slick from TA. I guess the choice is between 1 Oil Slick vs 2 resist debuff (Sleet + Heat Loss) after you do the wormhole routine.
Opinion is heresy.
Had a wee read of this, and instead of trying to convince you that the last 30 levels were a waste.. I'll tell you how good a grav / FF can be,
I have even made you a quick build.

This should give you super powers to use in a team and make you very survivable solo too... only thing lacking is a heal but it's easy enough to drop a travel power for aid self if you want that later.
So here are the benefits of this build.
3 Single target attack powers ~ LIFT, FORCEBOLT, PROPEL
4 Team support powers ~ DEFLECTION SHIELD, INSULATION SHIELD, DISPERSION BUBBLE, MANEUVERS
4 AoE Mitigation powers ~ CRUSHING FIELD, WORMHOLE, GRAVITY DISTORTION FIELD, DIMENSION SHIFT
I believe that force fielders should have loads of personal defense without having to resort to personalforcefield.
Therefor the IO's should give you the following defense...
46% Smashing Damage (Softcap)
46% Leathal Damage (Softcap)
44% Energy Damage
44% Negative Energy Damage
26.2% Cold Damage
26.2% Fire Damage
21.2% Psionic Damage
and as for positional,
23% Melee
59.3% Ranged (Softcap)
28.3% Aoe
Trust me I will be very very surprised if you don't have a great time with this build and you will feel very powerful inside your Forcefields.
Consciousness: that annoying time between naps.
Hmmmmm. I was gonna make a troller on Triumph and now Im torn between /FF and /TA
Anyone wanna way in what they think is better for teaming PvE
*/TA is better for a team than */FF ... simply because */TA makes everyone else on the team better at what they do.
Yeah, but there is a secret about Force Field that is rarely discussed.
FF is by a huge margin the least slot-hungry power set in the game. My FF Defender expended so few slots on his primary powers (despite taking 8 of the 9 available powers) that he was able to six slot every single power in his secondary, and most of the tertiary, with no decrease in performance from the primary.
Force Field lets you add survivability to yourself and to the team, while directly increasing the value of your other powers by virtue of freeing up slots. This is to say nothing of the AoE mezz protection it offers, the turtle (and minus-aggro) defense in Personal Force Field, and the only direct AoE blast available in a support set (Repulsion Bomb).
The short of it is that Force Field is awesome, just not awesome in a way people expect.
kin goes great with grav! But I may be a bit bias
Spines/ D A lvl 50 Scrap, stone/wm lvl 50 tank, Kat/reg lvl 50 Scrap
Grav/Kin lvl 50 Cont, Fire/Enegry lvl 50 Blast
Warshade lvl 50, PB lvl 39, nightwidow lvl 50, crab lvl 42
plant/thorns lvl 50 dom, ice/fire lvl 40 dom, grav/nrg lvl 41 dom
I'll throw a nod to Grav/Kin. Siphon power makes PROPEL! (Yes I said it!! and I use it liberally) wonderful. Singy loves Siphon Power, it makes it (he? or she?) a happy mob controller.
You get Siphon Speed to bring back wormhole quicker. Siphon Speed also lets you use hover as a really freakin fast combat travel.
You get a heal!! Which needs to hit Thankfully held enemies don't hit back!
Trick Arrow is like A-1 steak sauce, it goes good with every primary. It goes good with every AT.
Now if controllers could just get Devicetraps for a primary!! Gun Drone for a lvl 32 pet PAWEEEEEEEEZ!
I have a troller Grav/FF almost to lvl 30 and I didn't care for the 2ndary. What would be a better 2ndary other than Emp for a team troller? I been thinking bout Rad Em becuase while holding targets in mobs while being radiated with defense debuffs sounds fun. But I am open for other options.
