Where is everyone?

Not sure if this has been asked, but I have noticed the pops on the servers has been light recently. It could be the summer effect, but not sure about that, because there was volume mid August. Last three weeks have been kinda light. Just asking. Is it the school effect? Are people laying low until I16 or Going Rogue?

Many I'd imagine were in CO open beta and many will no doubt be playing CO now (think its out now).

Could they also be in the testing for I16? I never really thought of that as well. Just seems quiet, that's all.

It as been some time between a good Issue to some so they stop playing and waiting for I16 or GR

Yeah, I figured for the long weekend, but I have noticed that for a few weeks now.

You're not alone - I usually log in around the same time every other night or so, and usually Freedom is two yellow balls when I log-in.

Lately it's been one green ball every single time I boot up the game.

But I think above posters have presented very credible potential Why's.

Expect a few more people around the start of October

Been finding strange and interesting bugs on Test. Had my Force Field Generator decide it didn't like the second floor after we popped out of an elevator. It immediately floated down the hall and disappeared! Don't you hate it when your toys run away?

stop abusing the poor thing then mabye it'll come back to you. right now its living with it's mother telling her family what an insensitive jerk you are. don't worry, she'll call you... wait what was I talking about?

As said above: They're all on CO, Test, school or just waiting for the next Issue. The servers tend to be quiet just before a major update. The calm before the storm.

Don't be fooled by the colours of the dots on the server load page.
I can't remember the exact numbers, but, I do remember they changed it a couple years ago so what used to be a yellow dot (population wise) would now show green (for the exact same number).

Some players have lives and are busy doing real life stuff, especially seeings it isn't holiday season right now.

Some schools & unis have finals coming up (e.g. Australia) which happens in November, so any slackers might be studying or trying to catch up.

Some players are in the i16 open beta messing about.

And some like me, are staying out of the servers thanks to the lag bug (refer to this thread here http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...=186847&page=5).

Also a couple of 'other' games are in open beta / new release (such as Aion and that other one who's name I won't mention).

Aion Open Beta is also going on.

I know that's what I've been doing. That and working.

I've sure noticed it lately. Even the forums have seen alot less traffic lately. What I noticed the most was beta. I really thought there were alot of people dieing to get in this beta and try out the new stuff, but ever since open beta started, it has been a ghost town on test.

I'm on my PC playing CO, CoH (once a week, at least) and testing I16. I'm also on my PS3 and XBOX 360 mostly checking demos and videos. Also, I'm playing Broken Sword on my DS, and Wild Arms XF on my PSP... but mostly... I'm at work!

Yea I haven't played in a week.I'm on "CoD world at war" right now. Why? Cuz I'm waiting for 16 of course.And better yet...Rogue. I still love the game,don't get me wrong. I just need a break.I log in from time to time to check out wents/BM.

I've been on Guardian a lot, but in between forming Task Forces (today is Wednesday; I've run 4 this week) I've been lying low to craft and marketeer. Frequently someone pops onto one of the global channels and complains that things are deserted and it's hard to find anyone to team with or talk to. Immediately a whole bunch of previously-silent people agree.

Heh.

Whenever I start a Task Force it fills up; whenever I start a PUG I get some folks (though not as many).

Whenever I decline to do so, I see people complaining that they can't find a team leader to hire them (and apparently can't form a team themselves). If I didn't know better, I'd think I'm carrying the star for the whole server. :P

With i16 open beta, Aion open beta and the new super hero MMO all popping off at once its no wonder why the servers arent in the yellow. Give some time for the new shiny to wear off and they'll be back.
