Issue 16 now on the EU test server I have looked to see if there was a thread already but couldn,t find one ,looking in the wrong place no doubt.I,ve had a little try out liked what I saw ,waiting on it going live now

Theres mostly threads in the EU training room near the top, but some people might not look there so is logical to post here too

Oh and btw . . . . this issue has already made the game seem new and fresh for me! Had no idea changing the colour of powers was THAT effective!

It would be cool if the new power customisation lets you disable special effects and not just change the colours:

super reflexes is a major culprit this really, it's very suitable for Natural origin characters but has loads of extra shiny effects for no real reason other than I guess to make the warcrap people feel more at home

Please, give us the chance to turn the rainbows off!

You can ! With the issue 16, there is an option called "No Special-FX"

Will be great for inv brutes/tankers as well... The black fx on brutes is rather depressive imho, especially those swirly lines around you. ...but does this mean we can now have non-fiery rikti monkeys on fire trollers?

Edit: Just tested it for a bit! I'm shocked! Changing colours really allowed me to see how bad many fx are. I thought it was mainly the old engine itself, the horrible shadows and illumination that made the game feel very, very old. Apart from some 5ths running around, that seems to be it - oh, and another MA nerf. So until GR or I17 hits I guess it's really game over for me. No new content, farms nerfed and everything looking uglier than usual. ...and I thought I15 was weak!

Let's hope there's a lot of undocumented changes, like story arcs etc slightly changed, maybe even a few new/changed maps. Oh, who am I kidding?

After reading the threads and finding lots of posts about how I16 was the best issue ever I thought I was mistaken and alone. I rate by content not by shiny pretty changes that are interesting for an hour or two but ultimately add nothing to the longevity of the game. It looks like there is a shift from new content every issue to new content only in paid expansion. Before people jump in and say that the mission designers are busy with going rogue, they were also busy with CoV too but we still got new content every issue. Instead of looking at Champions online and copying everything in there the devs should be confident in their own vision and abilities to produce good and interesting stuff to keep people coming back every month like they used to. competition in the market can be a good thing if the products available are different from each other, but trying to copy each other just leads to stagnation which seems to have happened to CoX. All the recent issues have been tring to make the product prettier, but any new content can only be found by searching through many many thousands of player created farms. Player created missions should be in addition to new dev created content, not instead of.

For some, but not all powers.

It's true for Invulnerability, for example, that you can select "Minimal FX" which will mean no more garish or black shield auras. It's not true for other, aura, armours. Energy Aura, Electric Armour and Dark Armour can only have their FX "tinted" - which is a shame, because they're really pretty ugly in some cases and completely intrusive in others. I just won't be playing any of those sets until they get the "Minimal" option, too. Excellent news for Inv, though.

Am very pleased with the arrival of a choice of options for the Superstrength and Martial Arts animations. I'm sorry we can't minimise the bright FX on some of the attacks (a natural origin streetfighter doesn't normally shoot off yellow fireworks every time he kicks a mugger in the shins, so I'm hoping that will come around at some point, too), but the introduction of a variety of animation choices is excellent.

I, too, would have been delighted if there had been some zone revamping, or an undersea city filled with a new race of mer-people giving out fishy badges, or whatever else we've poked guesses at over the years, but I think most of that big stuff is hanging on Going Rogue.

I'd like to think that these long awaited but cosmetic changes in i16 are just the first of many more options to customise our characters in the future. I love the little addition of your current security level displayed in the centre of the progress bar, and I'm also very happy with the navigation bar for the character creator - once again, it's optional, which seems to be a very important element in these designs: choice and flexibility.

Not everything has been attended to, so there will be plenty of disappointed people, I know, but there is enough here for me to feel confident of further very welcome improvements and additions to these kind of QoL elements.

Oh trust me, you're not alone... there's a fair number of us around here. We just don't stand out much in the middle of all the other players who are blinded by the tin foil and cardboard buildings.

I'm sold. I can cut out half those annoying FX on my Natural DB/WP.

More powersets to play with is always nice.
The ability to color your powers is nice as well I guess.
Supersidekick and other QOL things are always welcome.
Hard needed nerfs to mistakes from the past a neccesity and lets hope they did it well this time.

But yes, I am missing much needed new content.

If im completely honest i was in the "no more QOL changes!!!!" camp, but all these changes in this issue have turned the game into a whole new game for me.

I could actually happily play for hours on end again without getting bored! Though i do admit i want/cant wait until the GR content bomb hits, for now im more than satisfied with all these changes.

My test server elec/fire scrapper just looks sheer awesome in battle

Must say I'm loving the new animations to Foot Stomp and Knockout Blow, plus my main toon can now get rid of those annoying white circles from the Invun set. Must admit I'm quite happy with what I've seen on the test server, the only thing I'm sad about not seeing is an alternative armour for Granite... Maybe in the future, still the rest of the rock armours look good.

I16 is still a massive Issue - even if you don't count the changes super sidekicking will bring to the game.
The amount of work that's gone into PC is huge - but like I14 and the work on the AE system, most of it is hidden from the players, so it looks like it's small, even though it's taken so much efort to make.

It's an issue which has taken a lot of work. That doesn't necesssarily mean it's a massive issue for all players.

I'll be looking forward to recolouring a few of my characters. But that'll wear off after a few days. So for me Issue 16 won't really add too much really. It's one thing I've thought ever since I14, the Devs have gotten their Manhours Spent to End Content ratios slightly screwed up and are spending too much time on certain things for not enough end reward.

A nice chunk of actual new story content would have been very welcome. But apparently we're supposed to wait and then pay for that.

Well, I will definitely try a rad blaster and a claw brute. It would be nice though to have some new content or even refurbished content to level them with. Yes even AE-content get tedious after awhile.

All I am asking is that they bring us those nice QoL things with a few pieces of new content to keep us happy. It is not as if it is hard to make stories these days, the most important thing is to have a decent writer.

Given the 'feedback' they got for the I15 TF and SF, their probably slamming a few writers through bootcamp, training and general spec-op story-fu courses

And I don't blame them.
If I17 and GR coincide, it's fairly likely (not certain, mind) that there will be story content to go with that, a la I6 and CoV was.

You mean, they would never implement a few new zones, in a paid expansion on top of than, and not place a few story contacts in those zones somewhere? A daring proposition!
