    Statesman TF

Well stone seems to be the most popular, my own stone/stone has no issues with an STF. My SG has been doing MoSTF's and seeing which tank can handle Recluse (and the rest of the TF for that mater.) Obviously Stone passed with flying colours against the AV's with abit of help from a healer on Ghost Widow and Recluse.
Dark and Will Power held up pretty well against everything barring Recluse. Even with healers he still splattered them a couple of times. Fire didn't do terribly but died on Black Scorpion and then the Flyer... And then on Recluse.

Invun was a different story. My main toon which is an ubered out Invun/SS pretty much walked though the MoSTF and on Recluse I just hit Dull Pain to absorb the Alpha strike with the healer on standby just in case.... Ghost Widow was more of a problem with her Mag Ridiculous hold but with several Clear Minds and an attentive healer the tank shouldn't have a problem.

Out of all the tanks a good Invun build has just as good a chance as a stone... That's not saying the other types were bad but Invun proved to be the better alternative to a stone.
  2. If you plan to be in granite 24/7 then yes the lack of speed is very noticeable. I'm a stone armour freak having 7 of them (I just love the set.) I however use granite as a panic button, I've taken all the other armours and slotted them fully and the set IMO is great and to be honest granite is only really used for AV's or when things go bad. I will admit that Rooted at the early levels does make your toon annoyingly slow, but as you level and your IO's and get better you'll get faster. At level 50 I can run rooted all the time and still keep pace with the rest of the team...I will also add that I don't take TP anymore as for most of the time I'm not in granite and turning rooted off between mobs has never been a problem but that's because I'm used to the set, though I will happily recommend TP to first timers of the set as it does make life easier.
  3. I'm just gonna add a different perspective. I've several stone tanks and on one I did something different, while It has granite I decided to use it as a panic button. I took all the stone armours and Super Speed instead of TP. After slotting with IO's and set bonuses the set came alive and I love it, It's a mix of soft cap S/L E/N and psi with 39% S/L resist and 44% F/C with a good dose of Regen. For day to day tanking granite stays off and there are no penalties. When something goes wrong or tanking an AV, Granite goes on, I stop with the damage powers and switch to pure taunt, fault and tremor (with Mud pots) The -Spd and -Dam are not an issue as I'm not moving or dealing damage.
Personally I think it's about utilising the whole set. I don't need TP as for most of the time I'm not in Granite and turning rooted off between mobs isn't really a problem.

    Just my take on things.

    Is it just me?

I don't think they're that bad, I seem to be posting a lot more on the new forums. Yeah they're a bit big and I did get lost in the Tanker section for awhile but there's a lot more to see and do here imo then there was on the old forums.

And of course he's talking about set bonuses; do keep your defense slots filled with something even before you're ready for sets.
Yeah I agree, I made my Inv a couple of years ago before I knew anything about the set and I thought it was just a resist set with a small bit of Def. When I hit 50 I always thought it was good but could be better, anyway after messing around with IO's and set bonuses it turned into something truly special and 2 years on it still remains my first choice toon.

An experience like that has certainly helped too, as you learn for future builds the pitfalls and mistakes you made, it has certain made my other Invns (And Stonies) easier. But yeah the first tank you make can be the hardest.
  6. I love tankers and they are by far my favourite alt, you really do need to stick with them as the early lvls are abit painful, I remember lvling my Inv/SS and it was quite horrid untill I hit 20 then things started to get better with Stamina and Rage. I didn't start slotting for Def untill I hit 50 then my tank went for being good to awesome. And with Perma rage My Inv can survive everything my Stone tank can plus tear through mobs on his own really fast.
By mixing and matching the powersets some tanks can put out quite abit of damage.

    Servers Down?

Server maintenance has been moved from 8am to 12

    Boys and girls

A mix of both, tis all about the concept of the character for me.
  9. Aye getting the large spawns will be great for my tank but I must admit I16 had me with the new animations for SS.
  10. I guess it really depends. A lot of people I know take SS because of Rage to help with Granite's -Dam. But tbh a lot of the secondaries are good. I chose SM because of Tremor and Fault but My Stone/Ice tank is great at getting and holding aggro, though the damage output is almost nonexistent but then again it's a team tank not a solo. If it's your first Stone tank I'd go for SS as it's a nice allrounder.

Yep that's what I meant lol... To be more accurate the S/L resistance is 89.6% but by moving an IO or two about you can easily get it to 90%. It takes Unstoppable instead of the Resist Elements because simply put I like it, even though it's used once in a blue Moon plus I've never needed the extra resists. I will admit that the build can be tweaked even more to how people would see fit, but TBH there's little need. I've just come off of an MoSTF and not even Lord Recluse could drop me. I love my Stone Tank a lot but my Invuln is so much more fun... And perma Rage just makes it better.

  12. I'm pretty much in the Invun camp and would suggest that, my main toon is soft capped in everything but psi and Hard capped in S/L with perma rage, he's just as unkillable as my Stone tank but has a much better damage output while still being an aggro magnet. SS is a good pairing with Invun, as some have mention it has good recharge and damage... I really love Foot Stomp. Though I would say to test out a few tanker sets and choose which ever feels right for you.
  13. Aye twas a fun raid, and a good run for a first attempt. I think I'll bring the tank version of Legislate next time.
  14. Legislate

    Issue 16

Must say I'm loving the new animations to Foot Stomp and Knockout Blow, plus my main toon can now get rid of those annoying white circles from the Invun set. Must admit I'm quite happy with what I've seen on the test server, the only thing I'm sad about not seeing is an alternative armour for Granite... Maybe in the future, still the rest of the rock armours look good.
  15. Must admit I've not really had any problems teaming. Normally I start the teams myself and even on a new alt in Atlas I still find people wanting to head into the sewers... Plus being in a good SG helps.
  16. Yep if I'm not working then I'll lend a hand.
  17. Yeah I've a NA account, it ran out last week. I think I'll renew it when GR comes out.
  18. Tis sad, always did enjoy teaming with you. Recluse's Victory won't be the same until you return.
  19. The only notable thing I've done with the science pack so far was make my Werewolf toon's wolf form much, much bigger. Not used any of the new science themed costume parts for anything yet.
  20. Legislate

    Union Costumes!

    Here's Legislate my main toon.

  21. Yep, if I'm not working I'll come along
  22. Not been on much sadly, but I did get my scrapper from 39 to 45. Also did a bit of work on my blaster too
  23. Aye I wouldn't mind a server list merge. Would be nice to have all the servers in one place so I wouldn't need to keep switching between my EU and US accounts
