I think they need to give full Going Rogue details because Blizzard just announced their third expansion with full details...

That in fact may be a good reason not to announce anything, since he may not want the message to be glossed over in the wake of Blizzard's announcement, BlizCon, PAX, etc.

They don't make announcements only for the gratification of current customers. An important goal is to get on the front page of MMO websites to generate PR for the game and that's harder to do when there's so much competing news from WOW, PAX, etc. Better for them to wait a day or two when there's not so much competing hot news, then make the big reveal.

How the hell would I know how many people here play WoW on the side?

There again, why pander to the gaming world in general when you can just make an announcement to your existing audience and forgo inciting potential new customers?
