Migration to new Message Boards - Part two

The migration is happening and it is happening fast!

As a matter of fact, next week is when we will be transferring over to the new vBulletin boards!

Between <font color=red>3PM and 5PM British Summer Time (16:00 and 18:00 Central European Summer Time), on July 28th[/color], the current UBB Message Boards will be taken offline in order to transfer the data over to the vBulletin Message Boards. This means that the UBB Message Boards will NOT be accessible during that time. The work that needs to be done on the new boards is expected to take <font color=red>approximately 72 hours[/color].

We will be giving you updates on this migration throughout the process so be sure to check out the CoH_OCR twitter page regularly!

As for your handles, we will be giving you more information on name conflicts and what to do to change yours after we have made sure that everything is functioning properly on the new vBulletin Message Boards. We appreciate that this is a serious concern, but rest assured we are aware of the situation and will endeavor to minimize any impact this will have.

Last but not least, if you haven't saved your Private Messages or thought about your forum handle yet, now is the time to do it!

EDIT: Will the new forums allow us to have two or more words for our names without having to put a "_" between them?
Like could I use "Golden Girl" instead of "Golden_Girl"?

Umm umm umm you mean i have to chose NOW?

72 hours before boards are working? Am i right in that between tuesday and thursday the url wont be recognised or just unable to post/join?

Also regarding all of us "joining forces" now. Does this mean that the closed beta testers will be from the whole pool of players now or will you be looking at EU players to test EU side of things too? &lt; &lt; &lt; &lt; Big issue for me, please reply

I'm not sure - I think this counts as "Very Soon", which isn't quite the same as "Soon".

Soon means 6-10 years.......

.....very soon is anywhere up to 5

Will it still be accessed using the same URL or will there be no uk.cityof.... anymore?

I can't seem to find any info about this, so I'll quickly ask... are threads being copied over to the new board, or are we starting from scratch? If so, how far back are you going to copy them?

I do hope the naming conflicts are handled based on date of registration. I can imagine some long timers here being REALLY &lt;bleeped&gt; off if they lose their name to someone who regged a week ago...

I almost.. almost thought that regardless of reg date etc.. it would be the EU people who will be the ones required to change. Hopefully thats just a generic message that got posted on both EU and US boards.

Yep, I'd like to know this too, just to save my Grav/Trick Arrow guide.

Naming isn't an issue for me luckily, I'm Carnifax both sides of the pond.

I dunno, a bit of clarification that way would be appreciated too. I've asked previously what happens if we own the handle both sides (my EU one is the older of the two) but didn't get an answer.

If I were you, I'd do what I did, and rename my US forum account name to something slightly different, so you don't have that problem.

If I were you, I'd do what I did, and rename my US forum account name to something slightly different, so you don't have that problem.

And that may lead to issues if US is given precedence in naming conflicts and John Doe registers today as FloatingFatMan...

I changed my US then changed it back 5 min later after realising this.

This does give me cause for concern. As we have been told that we can't change ours after we've been merged, the above would seem to imply that we would need to if there's a conflict. Given that I know there's someone on the US boards with my name who registered at least a year before I did, I'm bracing myself for bad news.

Even if they just insisted on an 'EU' tag on the name to prevent conflicts, I think it would be better than a complete rename.

Ah, let the rabid speculation begin...
