How about veteran accounts go on time paid for, rather than time paid for that's expired?
Say you just got 6 months vet, paying for an additional 3 months would get you the 9 months vet, without having to wait 3 additional months.

I dunno on union theres a badge hunter that was sad that he couldnt purchase the veteran badges.
He reached 600 or was it 500 badges as a 3 month vet.
Which is awesome but he cant break top 10 without the veteran badges.

hmmm, its a 50/50 likey/hatey, I dont know what to say to be honest.... how about you can purchase them but with a months wait for the next one available for purchase otherwise you could just get everything you want in around half an hour

Nah bad idea, everything has been devalued in this game, without vet rewards as well.
Everything is too easy and quick to get as it is.
Vets are clearly in more demand what with all the farms

Veteran rewards are a sign of thanks from the developers, and a signed of 'Veteranship' to other players, to show how long you have been 'active' in the game.
Think about a badge - "Can I have the accolade for doing all of these things, even though I've not done them (yet)?" - See, it doesn't work!
I look forward to earning my veteran rewards. It adds something new every couple of months, even when there hasn't been a new issue, or a costume pack release. Ok, granted, I got the 39 month Veteran the other day, so I've been blessed with totally pointless (for me, at least) Boxing costume pieces - but I'm *really* looking forward to 3 months from now, when I get the 42 month Team Teleport power. Shiny
(Of course, it doesn't change the fact that for 45 months, I get nothing... even though there are rewards AFTER that... it's STILL stupid!)
