coh goes to space

i couldn't find a post about this so if there is just ignore the post.

overview
"The Moon Zone is a rumored upcoming zone to City of Heroes, City of Villains, or both. It has been suggested several times, and people browsing the game files insist there is "proof" of such a zone going to be in an upcoming issue.

references
At this point, however, the only piece of information available is on a forum post by Positron:
The moon base is called "Armstrong Lunar Facility". The space station is the "Gagarin Orbital Platform".
Armstrong base and Gagarin station are the common nicknames for the two facilities.
The IOSC (International Outer Space Consortium) is the international space flight organization.
The above is part of the background for the City Of world.
However, MANY references have been made to the moon, starting with Issue 8 and the reopening of Faultline. Some of them are as follows:
The dam in Faultline is said to have been ruptured by unusual seismic activity on the Moon.
Several Rikti ships were said to have retreated into space following the aftermath of the Rikti War.
The Circle of Thorns have made casual references in Faultline to a source of power on the moon.
The Lost frequently speak of a "change" coming and sometimes reference the damage to the dam as part of it.
In promotional art for Issue 12, there is a large, central shot of the Moon.
It is possible to see the moon from Ouroboros.
Manticore and Sister Psyche had their honeymoon on the Moon.

So what do you think of the possible upcoming zone?

in a questionaire prior to I13 there was a section on heroes in space iirc..... including a moonbase. (then again, there was also a section on the moral compass idea too.. so ye never know. red herrings or smoked kippers? )

I think the Moonbase (which is probably linked to the construction that's been going on for ages in Steel & Port) will be the new zone in Issue 15.

I personally think it's all to do with the coming storm. Perhaps there's life on the moon coming to Earth, to destroy us? But if they do a sort of 'invasion' thing it will only be flogging a dead horse. It's gotta be different from that.

hopefully not as shallow, tacky and almost completely hero-centric as cimorara...

Moon, well grab a cave mission, call it 'secret lair of council', there ya go. Add some tech-map along it for the 'research facility' on the moon, another one.

aka, i really dont expect much of it. (like that chimora is 99% of the time deserted).

There was also a very short time you could see a further developed launch base in Port Oakes that would have taken you to the moon or wherever. Looked quite cool.

(it was bugged and stretched off the map during one closed beta patch)

There's enough lag already without having to wait for data coming from space...

But it needs things we can do there. One tf, 2 small storyarcs, 1 repeatable mission source and 1 introduction is not enough (I realize that it doesnt sound to bad when you sum it up like that).

Yup, MoonBase and SpaceStation - absolutely can't wait for new zones, Its nice to have Qol stuff and the MA will keep us busy for a while but nothing says Shiny™ quite like a brand spanking new zone. I probably wouldn't of felt the need for new zonage quite as badly if Cimerora hadn't been/continues to be - more of a staging ground than a fully fleshed-out zone but I digress. Absolutely cannot wait for the new stuff.

I hope theres a great view of an orbiting Earth and a new view from the moon like in Mass Effect (they really hit the magnificent desolation right on the head with that representation).

I wonder if they will try zero gravity physics on a map, It would be great to have an emergency and have the artificial gravity fail, I'd like to see things floating about and wonder if rotating a corridor on the z-axis whilst trying to navigate a map would be too vomit-inducing.

Question: If i enhance range on my sniper, can i take someone out on the earth from the moonbase?

A good example of this is in Dead Space, everything looks amazingly realistic in the zero gravity areas where you have blobets of blood floating across the room and random debris that is easily pushed asid when you float past. Also you can leap from floor to ceiling as well as the walls, which at first is very disorienting but after a while you get used to.

Hehehe that would be brilliant, "ill be with you guys in a seck" *turns on super jump*, *takes first leap* "oh [censored]..."

Although what would be a cool continuation of that is "hmm ill try using my power blasts" *uses blasts like a rocket pack to get back to the moons surface*

Also what ever happened to the underwater zone idea?

Quite often, they WERE!

I was watching an interview with one of the makers last year, and there was one episode where they were trying to get, I think it was some doors, open; but they were stuck.

The whistletalk was for "Great, the f***ing things stuck again*

"Baby Clanger hits you with its Sonic Curse for 320 damage. You are stunned"
"Small Clanger casts Summon Soup Dragon"
"You are covered in soup and slowed"
"Small Clanger casts Summon Iron Chicken"

Now all we need is the ability to add new enemy groups to the MA...

(it's actually slightly worrying how much of the Clangers I still remember. Must buy them for my lil one actually *runs off*)

One of the midnighter/cimerora maps has an area where you can walk underwater - so it looks like devs may still be investigating underwater possibilities.

Wouldn't surprise me too much if I15/16 included both moon/space and underwater zones.

As seen on QI (clip).

It's actually "Oh sod it - the bloody thing's stuck again"... which is a step down from the F-word so I'm not too worried about posting the link!

I have a cuddly Major clanger who says this when you squeeze him.
