Hmm, perhaps some kind of Debt Pact, where players who like having debt can form a pact with multiple others so that any debt goes just to that one player's character.

I still await a game with some form of logical 'death punishment.' Haven't seen one yet.

I can hear the complaints now. "You're playing too well! Die more!"

Maybe a reputation of sorts? The more you get beaten up, certain contacts will refuse you missions, until you can prove you can actually stand up for an entire mission. Maybe with specific needs for specific contacts (proven yourself against Malta/Nemesis/other toughies, etc. )
But yes, debt makes no sense. If anything, getting beaten would make a Hero/Villain learn anyway, e.g. dont do that again.

Defeat fails the mission. Makes sense. Teams can ressurect fallen members, but if you're solo or the whole team wipes, you lose.

Encourages teaming by making soloing more risky in a reasonable and realistic way, and teams will care more about falling back and regrouping (and using 'phase shift and leg it' powers) instead of hanging on to the bitter end because it doesn't matter and you might as well lay out all the DPS you can before coming back.

Even better when there's only one guy standing, who goes freaking nuts with inspirations and Tier 9 powers to save the day, or your blaster heroically detonates himself to stop everyone getting scrubbed.

I miss not being jaded.
I miss the time when I could play the game and not get frustrated at 'something or other'.

I don't miss much. The odd person here or there but then it's easy enough to find a new group to hang with.

Oh and new players....

I miss the Precision Rangers.

I also miss the thrill of entering a zone for the first time and getting to know the groups of bad guys that inhabit it. The memory of the first Freakshow that ever 'resurrected' itself right in front of me is something I will never forget I hope.

All in all though I still enjoy myself when I get the time to play so I can't say I miss too much.

Definately dont see that working, t'be fair. Some missions atm, especially AVs, require some getting used to and multiple attempts. I d'know, let the devs thing of something, or some brainy forumite XD

I miss Synaesthetix and his borderline psychotic ******* posts that always made me laugh, even when they were directed at me...or maybe especially when they were.

[/ QUOTE ]
I miss posting them. I also miss knowing exactly where I could push the border to without getting banhammered, but Bridger left a long time ago and we've been through a big pile of mods since then - and with absolutely no disrespect to the past or current mods, but a big part of the forums died for me on the day that he moved on. After that - as things turned out anyway - I didn't have the time or inclination to really post much anymore (which these days translates to rarely, if at all - forums say it all, last post was Mon Sep 22 2008 08:22 PM). I am duty-bound to poke my head out of the shadows every so often whenever my name gets dug up - if only to remind you that I still exist, and yes, you should lock up your children, egos, and anything else flammable.

Syn is around? Surely, you jest!

[/ QUOTE ]
"Around"? I never left! I did let the sub on my main account lapse for a month or so last summer when I really wasn't playing much at all, but I've never not had a functioning account able to access the game since beta - which brings me rather nicely to:

[ QUOTE ]
It is, actually, quite something that there are still people in this game who were there when it rolled out. I mean, I vacated and came back, and others have also played other games (Zortel plays WoW, I know), but they are still there all these years on. It's not unique, of course. There are folks who've played WoW since it started, others who still play EQ or even UO, but it's fascinating to see in a game which a large number of people keep saying is doomed.

[/ QUOTE ]
The first rule of MMOs is that the game is ALWAYS dying. The sign of any healthy game is that the forums are packed with posts about its imminent death/server mergers/closure.

QFT. And the rest of the 1AT hero SGs. Team GBH is pretty much just Flitz these days.

I also miss old debt, teams that do player missions NOT just paper missions (DDs being the exception here), Luska and the other GMs.

However, I do still regularly team up with some of the other 1AT regulars on Thursday nights for a bit of deviant action on the other server. So I'm still having fun!

Even WoW has 'The game is dying' threads. Or 'The devs don't know what they're doing'.

Nice to see you, to see you, nice, Syn. :>

Also, while I may have an active WoW account, haven't played since November time :/ Just fell out of the mood for it, got in a CoH mood, now not leveling in CoH and not sure what mood I'm in.
