Why introduce this?
it just doesnt feel natural... if u have a katana the last thing when u are stealth attacking is rooted... to me body kinetics (ie body movement) is important becoz it doesnt flow or feel natural it feels odd (this is only a pvp cmplaint though) in PvE tbh i couldnt care less

To be honest animation in PvP is rather borked basiccally because of the speed of the two interacting enities. TBH even our most advanced engine would look kinda stupid trying to recreate the pysics involoved, even if you could move while activating what if you chose to move in the opposite direction you would still end up landing a punch on something 50' away the only other option , you must be within x feet of target to activate power and mantain that through activation time would be equally unworkable IMHO. Perhaps there is a middle ground where you are confined to 'follow' target during activation but even this is not easily implementable given the current Engine or perhaps any engine given todays technology.

Yeah, but casual players don't play CoH for XP. CoH is very much a game where it's "the journey, not the destination."
I am against xp gaining when i log of. To much alts for me and i enjoy the slow ride up. Once a hero/villain reaches 50 it is retitrement time for me as there is nothing much interesting to do. I see no reason to hurry that part up even more then it allready has. If they make sure that we will have a true end-game then maybe i would like leveling faster.
Revamps however are a good thing. Bye bye Galaxy, Boomtown, Dark Astoria and Perez. There is a reason cov only has half the zones and frankly i am not missing the lack of the hazzard zones there. Especially as you zoom through them at a breathtaking leveling speed as it is.
I doubt that the xp you get while offline will be significant - I wouldn't expect more than a bar per month - although that could still have an impact on some of my more neglected alts.
I had read the day jobs more as something to do for the other bonuses (badges, etc.) than for any xp you were likely to get.

I'd be much more interested in gaining an accolade for time spent in multiple jobs than any amount of XP, although the inf could come in handy

I think I have over 75 characters at the moment (across two accounts and both Union and Defiant). I personally will appreciate that little bit of an extra boost the less-played characters would get.

I think Faultline needs a zone exit of some sort halfway down as travelling times can be a nightmare. I also think that it needs a map pointer for entrance to the Archnos tunnels as it is VERY difficult to find unless you know what you are looking for.
As for the offline XP thing. My gut reaction is against it. But I guess if it is VERY little then I could live with it. I know for me I enjoy the journey (as someone else has said) more than getting to lvl 50.

I hope this is a misunderstanding by the writer. IMO the game really doesn't need this. Since they changed the XP rate it doesn't take long to level anyway.

I wouldn't mind if there were day-jobs that gave a small bonus to earned XP. For one it would amount to opt-in and it wouldn't feel out of place in the way a straight "XP for logged out time" system would.

Fully agreed here.
An "XP bonus" may not be the same as earning XP offline. It may be a bonus to rate xp is earned through play, sort of anti-debt.

Just a guess but the XP bonus could be a reward for one of the day jobs. In the same way that you'll get a Regen boost for logging of at hospitals maybe you'll get a XP boost for logging of in a on patrol area.
I'm with Scarlet Shocker on this, it will be better to wait and see what happens, people are right it isn't needed now. Which leads me to think that perhaps in the future it will be needed.
Aside from not liking games introducing either xp or xp boosts while offline in general, my other problem with it is that I have loads of low level alts waiting for their turn at life.
This game is hard enough to try to get the badges and missions you want at low level before you outlevel them anyway. I know it will probably be minimal xp but all the same, if they must have it, then we need an off switch so we dont outlevel things. Not one of my alts so far has managed to get the caverns of transcendence for example.

Caverns is a pain to get. Need full 8-man team (that sticks it out) and ideally a stealthy toon with TP friend to complete it quickly/easily. Hmmm, maybe I should make the 'Cavern Guide'.
Anyway back on topic, maybe you can get this badge if your toon is logged off at the Cavern entrance / waiting at the contact for long enough!

I almost envision myself purposely killing myself to get some debt before I log, just to slow the XP increase down.

It's possible no rooting is neccsary at all but the animation involved in accounting for 256 starting postions * 32 variations (walking, running, jumping etc..) is still a little beyond todays tech AFAIK, The engine NC uses was written many years ago now and anyone in the industry will tell you using tools even 6 months older will never yield results as good as the 'state of the art' but then again using simpilar, less fluid animation might put you one step ahead of a uber physics uber defenition system as far as implementing total seamlessness goes.
But back to your point I've never really heard many complaints about the fact we need to be kinda static when 'playing' powers why is it of such great concern to you? As AoC has proved hi-tech does not an enjoyable game make neccaseraly
