Why introduce this?
and increase in XP gained would be agood idea but id say nomore than 1.5x the normal amount and then it only lasts for 2hrs or smt similar

A 50% bonus? I suspect a 5% bonus is more likely.
I really should do something about this signature.
it was just an example i would like somewhere tween 5-15% increase for a few hrs if this is the way
or starting at 1.5x and gradually decresing to 1.0x over a few hrs

I can't see that being of benefit to the game, the casual players could be tempted to play for their 2 hours of XP bonus time and then log out to play WoW, CO, et al until their XP bonus has increased.
Not a sensible proposition IMO and I doubt I'm the only one who'd think that
Thelonious Monk
the case is its traditionlist vs the fast i anna get to 50 players and the casual players... if i was a casual player i would love some xp % gain on each kill for a couple of hrs

It'd be a dream for us chronic alters though!

Aside from not liking games introducing either xp or xp boosts while offline in general, my other problem with it is that I have loads of low level alts waiting for their turn at life.
This game is hard enough to try to get the badges and missions you want at low level before you outlevel them anyway. I know it will probably be minimal xp but all the same, if they must have it, then we need an off switch so we dont outlevel things. Not one of my alts so far has managed to get the caverns of transcendence for example.

Use Ouroboros more.
Personally I don't mind this introduction, don't really care about it either way. Will be handy for those annoying bits of the 30 - 50 stretch that feel like they're taking forever.

Firstly, I have just stated that I am unhappy with the change, not cried DOOM in the slightest and only ask that it has an off feature as I dont want it.
As for the future of CoX, I dont know what will happen, it will continue for a while no doubt, though personally, imo, I think it will die a natural death unless some pretty good stuff is added, it is after all a 4 year old game (and No I dont think I13 as it has been announced will be enough to keep folk interested beyond the first week)
Finally, I am not obsessed with xp, in fact the opposite as I am quite happy to play the game and just get whatever xp I get, I just dont want the experience ruined by being forced to take extra when I dont want it.
Oh and to the guy above that post, farmers like everyone else will get an extra little boost to their xp and I have nothing against people being happy, it just shouldnt be at others expense.

Maybe Mr. Lately should wait and see what challenges the devs give us in I13?

Let's fully understand what's happening here.

Its fantastic! Joe enthused. It feels like a new game. Were doing what we want to do with the game and weve got all this support behind us. NCSoft is giving us the resources we need to really take this game where we want it to go.
[/ QUOTE ]
So far so good. Exciting even. I certainly was enthused by the potential.
[ QUOTE ]
Thus far, they have doubled the development team to about 40, and Mission Design is now a team of three instead of just a single person.
[/ QUOTE ]
Even better.
[ QUOTE ]
We have the freedom to plan, and we are actually planning multiple issues ahead. Were able to get to all those little niggly things that could have been improved but weve never had the time to fix and polish, now we have the opportunity to not only bring more content to the game, we can smooth out the old wrinkles. Its been really liberating.
[/ QUOTE ]
Fabulous!
So where are we?
So far, by the time I13 comes out, (almost a year after NC bought the game from Cryptic) with 2 direct competing games on the horizon, they've brought CoV and CoH together (but havent united them as one game yet) they've added a few cool (3 for one insp , the notes etc)quality of life features, a few so so features, and are planning the mision creator which will be great for some players who use it, it will be ok for those that play it.
(after all at the end of the day after the novelty of playing player generated missions wears off you're left with exactly the same type of missions as we have now)
We have a bit of power ploriferation (whoopie)a few new missions and.. wait for it.. OFFLINE careers and xp.
Isn't the object to get the game to a stage where it can
a) match the diversity planned by the soon to be competition?
b) be engrossing and varied so more people stay ONLINE more often?
Nearly a year in and this is all they have come up with so far?
And yes. Between cutting debt to almost pointless levels and increasing the rate you level we're outlevelling content too quickly. (someone tell me why a mission cant match your level? Cause I cant see why not.)
Practically forcing people to create alts if they want to continue to play the game in some meaningful goal driven manner.
And now you can get a career OFFLINE and... earn xp???(wt****???)
Why oh why arent they looking at the game from the ground up, taking away the real obstacles that make some noob players quit or are making the game frustrating rather than challenging, (early Endurance levels for one), remove the pointless restrictions such as number of costumes, etc etc and then start looking at some genuine content that will really make us buzz.
I mean, what the heck is the point of allowing us to level to 50 so fast if there's no end game to support it?
I could go on and on. I am very disappointed with what I've seen so far.
As far as I'm concerned NC are not (to date) cutting the mustard. And they haven't demonstrated that they are capable of rising to the challenge that's coming.
And quite frankly, I'm starting to wonder that if these games can come forward with some pretty innovative ideas, why this one can't too. And no it's not all about the engine. It's about imagination.
Don't get into a flap. It's only my opinion and I'm thick

What innovative ideas? I haven't seen anything on DC online or Champions which has made me think "Wow. Revolutionary".
In fact Champions is so riddled with CoH IP still I've zero confidence in it at the moment. Especially after that interview / preview on Eurogamer last week.
DC Online looks shallow beyond belief so far, with a dumbed down console interface.
CO all reports to the most part have been good.... and if they sort out gfx and stuff like that and not concerntrate so much on try to get it 360 compatable then the game will give CoX a run for is money
as for the end play in CoX. tbh its got too a point where the end game is to get a new fifty not to play on with your toons unless ofc u are a badgehunter.
the way the market and stuff is going farming is gonna be part of this game .... giving us help with inf and xp helps the non farmers who have altitus as well as giving a boost to some toon that havent been loved for some time.... thats the way i see it neway

Well to me it'll mean I'll open my list of alts, look at them and say "Hey, I'll take the Fire/Rad out for a spin since he's got a decent bonus to XP and I haven't played him in ages".
A picking and choosing your example doesn't prove a point. I mean you compared this small, throw-away feature to one of the main features of CO.
Anyway I find the concept of COs secret identities even more lame to be honest. The medium is gaming, I don't find the prospect of pretending to be Lois Lame, reporter, to be that exciting when I could be playing her superhero alter-ego.

NCNC hasnt really produced nething that stands out and the newer games are gradually releasing more and more info about the games and NCNC arent really doing nething except from oooooo we'll give u x^-n if u log in place y its not really exciting and the mish creator if im not mistaken has been done before

Im not loosing confinence in NCNC but i am asking myself more ofter what are they going to do to shove CO and DCUO into a very distance 2nd and 3rd place

CO looks like CoH, but with degraded graphics, and DCU looks like CoH reimagined as a console fight game

You'd think Nor Cal would have an announced something by now though. Something that let us create our own stories, perhaps? Something that's been asked for over a long period of time. Something that lets us have a lot more creative control over the game.
I'm sure they're putting some sort of feature together, but I can't quite place it. Damn them for not telling us anything.

to me this is a bit disappointing NCNC not telling us very much i know its a competitive business but CO and DCUO are giving us info pretty much twice mnthy and not just clues or snip bits. the're giving us full on sections of what to expect... We dont know what to expect from NCNC, whihc in turn makes a lot of us feel uneasy about the future of CoX as a whole

Yeah, DC and CO are telling us more because they're new games with a hell of a load of basic features to go through. That's it. If the situation was reversed you'd be seeing Nor Cal gleefully announce their fantastic character creation, villain groups such as the Fifth Column, the ability to replay missed content, etc, while CO and DC players gnashed their teeth about the lack of info their developers had been giving.
granted but when theve been on their own MMO market for sometime and 2 yes 2 rival pop up at once, where is the push to make CoX even better to halt CO and DCUO in thier tracks and think okies theve pull this outta the hat weve gotta pull smt out of ours nows... to me this would make market sense as it pushes all 3 into compettition with one another all improving and all trying to beat each ther to me that looks like new memebrs and old memebres staying with CoX
btu seriouesly we need some more info about whats coming in the next 6-12mtnhs like what we had with the 4th birthday release notes

I dont think so. A few months ago, perhaps but not this late in the game.
NC dont have to be specific you know.
If NC announced they are preparing a dynamic end game, it doesnt have to say tell us what the end game will be but it will create a positive air of positive anticipation, which is exactly what our soon to be competitors are gaining more and more of.

Hehe complaining about a feature that we know almost no details about, and predicting DOOOOM because of it is a little daft.
I read it as getting a boost to the rate of xp for a short time, a bit like WoW Tbh, which is hardly game breaking and does make sense if you think about it. Leaving your characters on patrol or going about their daily business they'll be learning the nuances of their abilities, enough to maybe make a small difference when they next use them.
In terms of playability I'm sure it'll slot right into everyone's altism without much fuss.
I dont fear for the future of CoX, even with the other MMOs that are coming soon, as we have no idea of the plans that NCNC have for the game. If, when the others appear, NCNC only release 2 new costumes and an inflatable banana temporary pet, THEN I'll be worried....
I'm curious about why folks are so obsessed with XP; I guess it just depends on how you use the game.
Also bare in mind that the whole city tends to explode with activity on a double XP weekend: I'm sure that a limited time XP rate increase given to characters that you haven't touched for weeks on end will only be good fun.
I don't wanna save my soul now,
I just wanna lose control,
And even if it takes a lifetime, to learn:
I'll learn!
