My personal feeling here is giving NCNC the benefit of the doubt here. They could well have brought this in with other reasons that are not yet apparent, and we don't actually know what it's gonna do, so I'd advise you to wait and see.

A couple of other thingsfrom that article - "full zone re-dos for the zones they felt needed work" - Boomtown for sure 
And - "rate the missions in several categories" - this sounds interesting, like it won't just be a single thing you click for the whole mission, more like you rate each aspect of a mission, that go towards a total score.

Farmers will benefit the least from this. The bonus XP will be too small or limited when it comes to powerlevelling a toon in any serious way.
Casual players that can only log a few hours now and then though, will get far more out of it.

They indeed probably follow other games. Few randoms:
Cabal - over 4 months, about 1 lvl of double exp (equal lvl40).
WoW - 3-4 weeks, not even half a lvl double exp (equal 34)
In the same time u could just do another hour of missions, you would gain the same.

and its true. Running agianst 2 other superhero type MMOs, CoX and its Devs need to pull their figers outta their behind and start making inroads into the other 2 .... and tbh they should be scared, both of them have the potential to push CoX into 3rd place, even though i personally think CoX will be 2nd behind CO, which should be as good as the claims once released. The devs are trying to keep the game afloat with a lot of small ideas, but what is really needed is a massive update for i14 or even i13.5, mish creator is one thing, but they need to think bigger than that and think of smt new that hasnt been done before and roll with it

Rooting is one of those 'neccasery sins' that animators require to smoothly intergrate various animations, without a nuetral stance there is nothing to start from or return to.

in CO they are remooving rooting allmost down to a infintesimal fraction of a sentance .... it is possible again its an example of cryptic doing smt and NCNC not

For me it will mean my inactive toons can gain something while I'm busy levelling my latest toon or if I do extended roleplay sessions that draw me away from missions and such, I can still get something.

False. CO are using another/very upgraded engine compared to CoH/V.
That engine could easily handle animations in a completely different manner. The system we have in CoH/V requires a neutral position in order to make things look good. It would be far, far too much work to rewrite/reanimate pretty much every thing in the game to change it.
then the real issue is here .... what is in the pipeline for CoX, unless NCNC are planning CoX2
and yes u are right about the different engine.....
The case with these jobs is that they shouldve came in 2-3 issue ago. it was a badly timed announcement (after CO announced they were doing smt similar). Playing catchup to a game that isnt out, smells of desperation and panic.... I just hope the devs have got smt massive and huge planned, otherwise this game will slowly die out as they loose some customers bit by bit to other MMOs just becoz they are new and this game will end up being out dated.
The way i see it it NCNC have about 24mnths to pull their fingers outta their behinds otherwise they will be playing 2nd fiddle to CO and possibly 3rd fiddle to CO and DCUO

Why on earth introduce this? I hate this type of thing, they had it in LotR as well and it sucks.

I just hope there is a way to turn off this naff unwanted (by me at least) feature. If I wanted to play WoW, I would go play WoW.
