This. A thousand times this. I was about to re-sub my second account when the announcement came, and now I can't.

The thing I hate about this policy is that it's so much harder on some players than on others. Think about how it affects altoholics like me. I have over 180 characters now. I had to buy a new house last year just to have a big enough walk-in wardrobe to keep all the costumes in. And if you switch character just by logging out to character select, you really only have thirty seconds plus loading time to get the next outfit out! It's a nightmare!

It was going to take a long time to settle in, Mrs Muldoon thought, fumbling with the keys to her new Atlas Park apartment. Galaxy City had been home for such a very long time, and at her age change wasn't something she was inclined to embrace.
She heard a noise, and looked around nervously. Some things were the same wherever you went - there were still gangs of thugs hanging around on the street, terrorising innocent citizens. She clutched her handbag tighter, and hoped they weren't coming after her.
Once upon a time, she thought, when Kelly Graham lived in Galaxy City, they wouldn't dare. People had the freedom to walk the streets, then. People had respect for each other.
But Kelly Graham, like the part of the city that had borne the name of her heroic alter ego, was gone.
"Hey, old lady! Hand over your cash!"
The Hellions jumped out from behind the corner and surrounded her, baseball bats in hand. She cowered, and her keys slipped from her fingers.
"Please don't hurt me," she cried.
They slapped their bats into their hands, grinned, and took a step closer.
Quit your shaking and hand over your cash.
There was a sudden bright flash. Mrs Muldoon covered her head with her hands as a familiar red and white blur rushed in, seemingly throwing light at the Hellions, then slapping teleport tags on them while they were disoriented.
"Oh my," Mrs Muldoon said, smiling at her regular saviour. "You are so brave!"
The young hero smiled, her green eyes twinkling behind the red domino mask.
"My pleasure, Mrs Muldoon.
She bent down and picked up the keys Mrs Muldoon had dropped. Here you go," she said. "You be safe now.
Mrs Muldoon watched The Girl Beyond Compare speed off into the distance, saw a distant flash of light and smiled. Galaxy City may have fallen, but Paragon City's heroes were still there, still fighting for the freedom of everyday people.
With the streets so recently cleared of thugs, she thought, she might as well indulge in the freedom of a little stroll to the shops before tea.

Sigh. Grump.
I happen to be on holiday this week and when the Freedom headstart was announced I thought, "Woohoo! I can spend most of my holiday levelling my multiple new characters!"
No such luck. -

As to global names, it would be nice if our global names were automatically reserved for us to use on all servers. For example: someone's global is "King of Hearts", that means the toon name King of Hearts is reserved for them and only them to use on the servers if they choose to use it as a toon name. If they don't it stays in reserve status so no one can claim it. If the person changes their global name, then they lose reserve status for King of Hearts on all servers and whatever they change to such as King of Diamonds becomes reserved for them on all servers. If they made a toon with the name King of Hearts they still keep the name, but lose reserve status on it for any server that they didn't make the name on. Problem with this is that the game has been around for so long that if they decide to make global names reserved on all servers, some other people may already have toons with that name, so what to do? Let them keep the name or should the support staff run a script that puts a number one at the end of their name and issue them a free rename token for that toon? Some people may not like their name being stripped from them just because it isn't their global name.
I lost one of my global names when the servers merged. It was the name of my first level 50 character, a name I had been using as global for years, that actual people knew me by, and which I had on all four EU servers. Then we merged and I lost it to an American player, because they got priority on global names simply by virtue of playing on the American servers. And yes, I'm still sore about that. By your suggestion I would then lose all the remaining versions of that character that I still have! How would that be fair at all?
But I got the name on Exalted, so at least there's a bright spot for me there. -
Still @Morgana Fiolett, but instead of @Ibuprofen I'm now @Genevieve Moore.
To be honest, I kinda expected it, but I would have been a lot happier about it if they could have given precedence to the longer-standing one instead; at least that way if I lost it, I would have known it was to somebody who had the idea first. -
Thankfully my main account is untouched, so I am still Morgana Fiolett, but my second account is now Genevieve Moore instead of Ibuprofen.

They sent them out in tells; how they chose them I don't know. There were people asking if players in PD2 would get the same chance but I didn't actually see a reply.
-
We've (Vox and I) just been to both the Union and Defiant ones on the EU servers and there were 3 codes per server given at random.
-
Not gonna be the case. Like I said earlier, I could see it logged out, even when you were still saying you couldn't. I've tweeted CoH_OCR to tell them there's been problems reported and asked if they have any comment, and I'll let you guys know if I get a reply.

Quote:I don't think you need an account for either. I never log in to twitter from my browser, and I see it right there in big letters, so I've no idea why you guys aren't seeing the same thing.Wait, you have to have an account?
...I wish someone had mentioned that in the original post. I feel dumb now.
Do I need to be facebook friends to see the Facebook updates in a timely maner?
As for Facebook, unless they're posting it to friends only you should be able to see it regardless, I think. Don't quote me on that, though. -
I'm not logged in to Twitter and I see the giveaway post just fine.
I just happened to be at the shop when it was posted so I utterly missed it, boo! -
It's taken at least twelve hours to get an official statement here, as far as I can tell. I know I had the problem this morning before I went to work whilst, annoyingly, my boyfriend could access character slots at about midnight last night (after I was in bed).
I have two accounts on the EU servers and not.a.single.slot where I can play the new content. Tonight happens to be just about the only chance I'll get to play for several weeks. I have no characters of the appropriate level I want to go Rogue with.
I guess I'll go read a book. -
Flag capes!
I think it was during a beta period, or something that never made it quite in, but I remember seeing screenshots of a Union Jack cape. I think it was something to do with Hero One, and it was just a bug that made it available to players, and thus it was removed before coming onto the live servers but... well, that would be awesome! Especially if you could put in lots of different countries. Now that would be customisation!
Also to add my /signed to the request for the old thigh boots (I miss them) and the fur shoulders which I didn't see at the time but which look awesome.
If I had the time to go through all my old screenshots I'm sure there's something that I've forgotten about along the way... -
I give up, seriously, this is giving me flipping RSI.

I bloody typoed a z for a 7.... back to the f5 then...
-
I saw ithe facebook come up as code claimed in the image... then refreshed the picture and the code appeared (but it was claimed when I entered it) ... then refreshed again and it was back to code claimed.

Quote:It took me ages to find what you were talking about since there's no "vests without sleeves" option... Now I see that you're right, it's available on about half of the top options (It's not on either Sleeveless Robes or Sleeveless Jackets, which is what I thought you meant). You can sort of do that. If you use vests without sleeves, the bolero fuzz is one of the shoulder options available.
Of course, since it's literally just the fuzz it doesn't actually attach to anything and looks pretty daft. So we need them to add something that it'll actually match before that can be a real option. -
"City of Heroes remains the champion of character and player customization" eh?
Subtle -
I'd quite like it if you could have the top half of the magic bolero with wings but no buttcape. Personally.
That'd solve the problem, surely? (The technical one, anyway.) -
Welll... I'm a 30 year old (wah!) straight woman and of my 83 characters, all but two and a half are female. The half being one with two costume slots, using the magic, uh, well, the science of the science pack, to make one male, one female. But the female one was first.
Oh and one of the two fully male characters is a transvestite. The other one I dual-box as a duo with his wife.
Meanwhile my boyfriend has considerably fewer characters than me and they're all male.
I also like to create trashy chest-slider-to-the-max characters that mean I sometimes get mistaken for a male player. I find it quite funny.
