I'm really hoping that we can set the waiting emotes on the characters in our missions, so they can be looking at laptops or drinking coffee or something more interesting than listening/dancing to music/throwing fire.
[/ QUOTE ]
i would ASSUME that this is possible from launch since on rescue hostage/ally missions there are already a number of animations.
*On their knees (eg silos final tf)
*The hostage pretend fighting the enemy
*Hostage cowering
Just those 3 as an example, so only makes sense to have some form of dropdown box for each different scenario for the different situations. Cant see all emotions being available though as was said. But would be funny to see Nemesis and Recluse doing /e tea together then when you approach them they get ready to fight . . . . . .
Nemesis: So recluse you ole chappy, how the devil are you?
Recluse: Oh im just spiffing me old chum, how about yo . . . . . . oh no its damz ummmm quick hide the tea!
Nemesis: Ha!! Got you Recluse! I brought Damz here to catch you drinking tea to spoil your rep! It was all a nemesis plot!
Damz: . . . . . .

Lord Recluse doesn't drink tea Damz. He drinks coffee - a villain's drink.

If you wanted to be REALLY evil you could just put the lot of them in the sewer maps and place them all in the sewer water, literally cant see them that way.
Part of me wishes that you can select which class of the enemy you place down and another part of me doesnt.
Can see some missions being stupidly hard (all sappers, all ghost boss's, all tsoo scorererererersers etc), but then again i suppose that would be a nice challenge now and then.

I'd love to mate, but I have to be at college for ten o'clock - first day back and all - so I am going to bed. I'm quite nervous. I won't know anyone in my tutor or on the course I'm doing.

I think the main reason for that is because it would probably mess up the way the game spawns mobs for the difficulty level - making a mission with only Bosses in it would conflict with the Heroic difficulty setting, for example.

A lot of villains vary in nationality - so many different drinks are considered the true villain drink in many cultures

Possibly an Advanced editing mode then where you can only determine the enemy of its selected class?
The mob size is already pre set as you said but would it be that hard to be able to individually choose each enemy on different difficulty/team size?
Heroic solo = a minion and a lieut (iirc), so be able to determine what the minion is (with a list of minion enemy classes) and what the lieut is (same as before).
Obviously doing this would take up a lot of time/effort but would help a great deal in creating a certain feel in your missions. If you chose not to go into the advanced settings then the mob types would be random generated?
Edit: Didnt they say somewhere that we could place the mobs whereever we want? Was it individual enemy placement or just spawn placement?

I'm sure you will be able to do something like that and choose the type of minion/lt is actually spawned. They say the the mission creator is an easier to use version of what the devs use and they create missions like that. For example the Striga Island mission where you fight a base full of only Vampyrs.
And I think they said you choose roughly where the spawn is - i.e. near the front, middle or back. You couldn't choose the exact position.
Hopefully, you'll be able to place additional named bosses like the Atta's Guards in the Atta mission.

I do see the cool factor in designing missions but I have to ask:
Are they going to give us tools to help us differenciate the standard missions we do right now?
If not, how can we create missions that are more fun and original to play than we currently get on the live server?
And if we can do things/ create missions that are superior to the type that we currently recieve, then why the heck arent the devs serving them up to us already?
Don't get into a flap. It's only my opinion and I'm thick

I'd imagine that the only differences which we'll be able to influence will be the story and how the characters are presented in the story.
That's more than enough to get me excited.

Well, aside from some designers who will probably be able to devote far more time to one arc, compared to NCNC writers who have to split their attention across several and have less opportunity to keep going back and "fine-tuning", there's also the fact that the playerbase is more likely to find something like the floating desk "feature" that was discovered in the base editor that can do something new or different, but had not been intended.
As for keeping files off-line, it could be something along the lines of the "interpreter" we have for movies where, sure, you can go and "hack" the original file, but anything not originally intended may well get thrown back as an error message when you attempt to publish it.

Because most of the tools we're being given to allow us to make these superior missions have only recently been availible to the devs.
Stuff like branching missions, the newer maps like the office to Rikti Lab and other features.
Posi has even said that some of the tools we'll be getting were only availible as recently as I12 so they've had little chance to play with them.

[/ QUOTE ]Lest we also not forget that the devs have to consider work on all parts of the game not just on the mission content.
Otherwise we'd have had zone revamps every issue too.
