dont like freaks? find another PuG or better yet ask this:

plz devs can villains have more choice in villains to fight. heroes have more so can we have more. ty
more enemies to fight in paper mishs ty. like warriors

I have to say that The Freakshow are my favourite enemy group, but not for any xp bonus or anything. I don't play for xp or rewards. I just play because I enjoy it. And for some inexplicable reason I like the Freaks!

So go ahead and nerf their xp bonus or whatever it is you want done! I'll still fight the freakshow at every oppertunity!

It wouldn't stop *me* doing them a lot... on my Elec/Elec/Mu Brute

It's the only character I enjoy fighting them with, since he's near immune to everything they have - end drain will just make it a little more interesting.

no nerfs are needed atm but it is a friday so i spose its allowed

Way to misinterprit.

Here's what i meant. You're upset that people choose the freak papers over the story arcs. They do this at the moment, that is your gripe.

My criticism was, why would player created content (i.e, potentially ever more well written arcs), change a damn thing about it, if they are already ignoring the story arcs in place?

Edit: you also clearly aren't familiar with MaX's posting yet, are you? :P

Freaks are supposed to give slightly higher XP than other mobs of the same level and some reason for that was given a couple of years ago. Whether they give a higher XP rate is probably open to question. I think the reason given was the self-heal. Rezzing is not a valid reason since their second life is generally easier to carve up and you get xp for killing them the second time.

I'm not sure the extra XP is valid, but I mostly play Scrappers and they are usually child's play compared to something like an even-level Sapper. The devs had to balance difficulty across all ATs and some probably find them a lot harder than others.

The OP has a point if it is impossible to find a time that doesn't want to do missions unless they have Freaks in them. Otherwise they may as well be left alone.

Personally, I love the big, dumb cyborgs. I used to use Freak Tank groups in Crey's Folley to test new builds on. But doing the same of anything for long periods gets boring, in my eyes anyway.

I do wish plp would stop using foul language. That 4 letter word begining with n and ending with f is the worst and is bound to get plps backs up without even trying. (maybe thats the true point of the post)


Oh why oh why do plp join teams then complin about what the team is doing? Have the balls to ask what the team is doing befor you join and if they say freak mission's decline the invite.

Or more simple create your own team and do missions you want to do.

i don't think they give out exter xp more then the rest, it just that they can all rez' alot more then other mob with make them seem to give out more

Tbey give out more exp but as far as I know they do so because they have more HP + RES than other mobs.

Ok!

As a regular team leader radio missions seem to be the better option for a number of reasons.

1. You can always speak to the contact. There is no 5 min wait whilst someone has to travel across zones to speak to someone.

2. There are no crappy talk to missions that involve travelling across 2 zones (first to gate or train, then to talky) to go all the way back.

3. Mission Arcs have a nasty way of being outleveled that in turn then need to be completed with little or no xp.

4. Who really follows the stories in a team.

5 Mission Arcs have instances is zones all over the place.


For me that has limited playtime (I do many teams that involve people being on at the same time and so if one logs we all log) I feel that playing radio missions increases our leveling as they have none of the drawbacks as above. Now if someone was too join my Radio Mission Fest (RMF. Woot New TLA) and not be happy they would be welcome to leave as I am sure there are other teams running out there. And for my regular teamers I would expect them to have a word or say something about the RMF and maybe suggest a different way to do things and not just Post on the forum and that being the first I heard of it.

If normal missions are going to become the way of the team again (not saying they are not already but I agree a lot of groups tend to RMF) then the things that have been mentioned above need to be looked at.

Something else that probably needs to be looked at it when you have outleveled contacts. When I have tried to catch my contacts up they seem to be very unwilling to let me know who will give me missions. In fact they seem to think it is a big joke if I go and talk to everyone else, and when I finally get some missions it starts an arc that is capped 3 levels lower than my current level.

Fix the stuff that is wrong on Heroes Side (Dont do villians teaming, well at least when I'm the leader anyway). Then teams may well start mission arcs.

SUBNOTE: It isn't like I dont do story arcs, but

1-5 - Sewers
5-6 - Kings row for temp travel
6-15 - Hollows
15-25 - Faultline
25-40 - Radio Missions. I know at 35 we can do RWZ so we need another zone or mission arc that covers from 25 - 35 that doesnt involve overpowered dwarfs or hags.
41-50 - AV arcs and the like

I haven't checked recently, but prior to my break I checked. Freaks give more XP than other mobs of the same level. Basic fact.

The argument would be over whether it takes longer to kill them than other mobs, so it evens out overall. Personally, it's the XP/min rate I look at, not the value per mob, but some folks probably just look at the raw figures.

Best XP in the game is level range dependent and may have changed. Warburg PvE missions were awesome XP and I was massively happy to discover them. My main had been stuck at level 38 for months with no missions to do until Warburg came out and I did those two levels in about 2 days.

i love freaks, 30-40 they are a life saver.
if you don't want to do paper missions have that in your search window, i long ago stopped doing regular contact mishes of my own unless there is a badge involved or it is new content. Its just a personal choice, i don't usually have long to play and find +3 freaks good fast xp in even a poor team.
I suppose running teams like this may mean newer players missing out on some of the content.
