Theft from SG.. Tale of Woe
Agreed - I can see the police following up a theft even if the thief had been handed the keys.
The insurance company, on the other hand, would almost certainly point to the "take proper precautions" clause in the contract and refuse to replace any of the stolen items.
All of which is a little irrelevant, as this isn't a real world situation and NCSoft have been quite clear what their position is on this sort of thing.

Never liked insurances companies if they could they introduce a 'there was a y in the spelling of todays date' clause

nope, he had access, not permission
[/ QUOTE ]You gave him permission (through the supergroup rank permissions screen) to access base storage. In other words, to "approach, enter, speak with, or use" it.

Actually I did read all of the posts before posting, its a strange thing to admit but I do tend to try and understand a thread before stepping in with size 10s.
As I have said keeping this alive is not a healthy thing to do you have vented your spleen its been done to death now.
As for being advised to post this hear, its a good idea it brings the subject out into the open for discussion but I have not seen much of that actually going on only a lot of woe is me anything constructive was lost round page 6/7
I agree this is a paid for service, not trying to agree or disagree with whats happened to yourself but if the other player IS role playing a villain then is he not then following your own maxim?
I personally dont actually see you as being abused only having another player not play the way you would prefer them to play!
And as he is also paying for the game he is playing the way he wants to play it.
As for allowing or not allowing people access to your SG bins your call as I said you never really know who a player is until you group with them over time, if youre lucky you find a band of likeminded individuals and enjoy their company of an evening if not then it adds spice to the game after all whats the point of playing if there is no surprises.
If the permissions are redefined that does not actually change the problem you have experienced as if a player wants to do anything with the base they will always need good access, and with that comes the option for abuse.
Mind if you have played with this chap for 12 hour days for a month you may also want to consider going outside into the real world and have a break. Let this drop anything mildly constructive is being buried in the endless return arguments you are constructing.
It really is simple now
You gave him a level that allowed him to remove items!
He the removed the items.
That may not be what you wanted him to do, but it is what he wanted to do and he did.
Learn the lesson and move along, really dont look back keep moving forward.
And to join the general consensus at the end I to will bow out from hear its become a very pointless post now and needs to drop gracefully away.
Regards
Nom

All of this; I agreed with your last post too, and yes, I too have read this sorry thread from the beginning.
I feel for the OP, but he's in denial - he really only has himself to blame, it just isn't NCSoft's problem. I remember reading similar suff on the WoW forums (and a lot more of it went on there) there just isn't a way of proving what happened sufficiently to allow the company to intervene.
The very best way of policing this stuff is expressly forbidden by the forum rules, but not as far as I'm aware in-game - naming & shaming; when @thieving_tard rips you off, you tell your friends to stay clear, they tell their friends...

Now admitedly all that could be a complete fiction made up by them both though for the sake of robbing someones salavage racks I cant see them constructing an entire fake life..can you? He may have been a muppet but he wasnt machiavellan lol

The first part of the above quote isn't helping you out, I suspect. It leads me to two possible conclusions:
1. You are not sure what you are looking from this thread. More sympathy? Cyclic grinding of points and a refusal to acknowledge disagreeable positions reduces this likelihood. I would consider busking or a whist drive if I were you.
2. You are the one that is not fully reading what is being posted. Turn about - fair play?
As for the second part - I could absolutely believe someone would make up a set of false RL details if they are prepared to infiltrate an SG to swipe all the sweet lute. To assume otherwise is naivety. "LOL."

The actual age is probably irrelevant here, but you don't really know a darn thing about the person who betrayed your trust. Sure you got an impression of them over a couple of weeks, but they may not be who you thought they were

Before posting I had read every single post in this thread. I tend to do this with every thread I post in.
It appears from later comments in your post that you either didn't read or didn't comprehend the remark I made about rights and permissions being synonymous in IT security usage.
I'm beginning to get the real impression that emotion is blinding you on this matter. Understandable. If I'd had this happen to me because of my own ill judgement I'd be properly annoyed... though I question whether I'd keep reminding everyone on the forums how naively trusting I'd been.
As it is you're almost managing to troll your own thread that started off in a decent enough manner.

Look just post what has been stolen , if you on union villain side you are in luck ,since i dont play this game but as a solo single player game , while i am bored with wow raid organising .
Sadly to say stop trying to go on more , and worst customer support can do is sent somebody to this kids "wanabe lawyer quote and reply with no sense of meaning infested " forums , that has lost it glory of old days coh debates.
Neither is the community the same as the old days.
Instead of argueing about refunding the person lost stuff even if its worthless and virtual , guess people own self indulged feelings of importance is more important then helping somebody out .
Especially turning it into flaming topic .
Now Atlas just post what you lost and stop argueing if anything of IO importance that can be replaced of equel value will do so .
Consider it a lesson learned that trust is to be gained not given , and sorry somebody with that high ambition usually dont deserve a spot , cause they simply sooner or later want to try it on there own , and sorry there is 2 side to a story , and the other side is that he might have worked hard too , to gather part of those stuff , so when he leaves he is entitled to part of the salvage too .
Nothing is yours if you going to share it , if you didn´t want to share then keep it locked .
Never trust anyone you can't grab a hold of at some point and beat them with a shoe until they do exactly what you say. That was my mother's motto god bless her soul <sniff> <sniff>.
