just plain fun.. Cool that it is finally being used. Its often these kind of small things that a community enjoys lots. Making more people join up.
Ultima Online already had a feature like this.. years ago.

Remembers the almost full year of nagging Bridger about global chat being available in the US but not in the EU...

And obviously, Chatarsis, it's not always that obvious. So I explicitly wanted to confirm that these options are going to be used here as well.

Guess a at the end of my post would have been good. But that could have been taken as rude.
My sarcasm levels have been dropping lately.
This is all well and good but whats the point of it? will there be a new web site with all this information on or something?
That's what I'm wondering - like will there be a Hero database on the official site? Or is this going to be able to be used by anyone, so places like the badge hunting site can use it to check badge counts rather than having someone verify them one at a time?

It sounds like it will be similar (i guess) to the WoW armoury, the EQplayers site as well. Where they auto database your characters and can be viewed any time. It will be like Crey database, mixed with Badge [censored], CIT. All rolled into one. With maybe a few extra side bits like the costume viewer and other things your char has achieved in thier adventures in game.
Hope they can pull it off as be nice if all the characters info was in one place, with a quick handy link to view it.

I'd imagine there are some in the "more info soon" part of the announcement.

not sure if you missed this in a previous patch GG, but FYI opening the Personal Information window ingame through the 'J' shortcut on the menu has the number of badges u have at the top of the badges section, all counted for you

Iknow you can "turn off" showing your friend list but i think it should be set to off to start with so you can turn it on if you want to.
agreed.. I can't descide for my friends .. so I would like to see friend list on default ' hidden' too.

In the near future we will be making use of some previously unused Character options and we want you to be aware of them so you can configure them to suit you. In the Options menu, under the Miscellaneous section, there are four web options:</p>
These Web options will soon be used. If you do not wish to have your characters information be displayed on the World Wide Web, you will want to configure them to be Enabled. If you enable Hide Statistics from Web Page, none of your information will display. If that option is disabled, then you can configure the next three options: Powers, Badges and Friends List. By default, your Statistics, Powers and Badges will be on, but Friends List will be off.</p>
To clarify, information could include such things as: statistics found on the in game kiosks, your different costumes, friends lists, powers and what enhancements are slotted into them and badges obtained.</p>
All of these settings are configured per character. Characters who have not logged in for over 90 days, regardless of whether they are tied to an active or inactive account, will not be viewable.</p>
We will have more information about this feature soon; in the meantime we wanted all of you to be aware of these settings in the event you do not want your character information to be public.</p>
