Most of my characters are semi-RP-based linked to eachother, having 2 accounts 12slot each its quite alot. How do you guys link them together? Write a huge story, or a diagram or any other way?

aside from that:
I still have a few discount-coupons for a few poster-prints, was thinking to make 1 huge picture with all of them together. Anyone every did such stuff before and how? With demo editing i can get them all together in 1 picture, but was looking also for some cool effects. Short: i need idea's

I've linked my chars together one way or another (Efranof is friends with Darvek, Darvek is Spruk's step father and Beet semi-caused Spruk's extra mutations). Others are acquaintances, unknown relatives or long lost friends.

Hmmm...

Grav Mistress and Tower of Power are siblings.
They are both in the top tier of The Chess Club.

Attomic kitten is in teh Chess Club, they know each other, but not intimately.

Roselin thorne has a clone called Rosalin Thorne, they're like twin sisters now.

The French Maid is pretty solitary as an RP character.

Misha Hannigan is a member of the Unity Vigil, who are allies with The Chess Club. She knows of Grav and ToP... but other wise...

As for getting them together, how about a collage?

Just a nice RP factor, CoH has widerange abilities for this.

At first i was thinking on sort of Tree-layout, i once started to write the entire story but became somewhat too long read (was at 12 pages with 9 toons).

I use the data from Citytracker to put my exp/lvl/etc on a website, so i like to expand this website to a full page all about my characters and their background info.

Sometimes links can present themselves either before or after the character has been created. I have characters linked by the following means:

Father/Daughter
Student/Teacher
Hero/Nemesis
Husband/Wife
Brother/Sister
Housemates
Old friends...

Sometimes the link comes about just through their characters as they emerge. Origins can often be a good reason. Each origin has its own 'governing body' in Paragon so it's quite possible that any magic character could have met another magic based character through MAGI. People tend to gravitate to each other over certain subjects if they're pivotal to their personality.

Otherwise, links just appear as you play them. Plots can take characters in certain directions where it is possible that they might run into another of your creations. There are thousands of ways people know of each other, even if it's just having bumped into them in the past.

I've had a few ideas for new characters linked to my existing ones, but most have gone unused, or been deleted. Wolfram and Starlit Spirit are linked, and most of my alts are in one of three SGs (so most know each other), but that's as far as I've taken it.

I think part of the problem is that I tend to 'collect' cultural backgrounds, and I don't think any two of my characters were actually born in the same country.

That's just me, though. Linking your characters' backgrounds can make for some good RP potential.

Knights Exemplar: Wolfram, Autumnfox, Starlit Spirit.
Militia: The Portent, Wavekite, Mr. Sandman.
The Cadre: WarpLocke, Zajin.
Numerous others.

None of my 12 characters are linked and they don't interact with each other expect for the rare plot necessity. And even, it was on a very limited manner.

I dunnow. I have the Fortune Family, who are a catchall for anything interesting and magical I might find. Beyond that (and the occasional obligatory evil-twin thing going on,) there's only been one real link, which is hat one of my characters instructed another in sword-play.

Oh, and Z, you can hang the Concord off the GoD, on account of Nene's association with Josie.

That was my initial purpose of making the bio's of my characters, but also added a timeline for creationdate and suits good with the celebration-badges (i have a few with all 3).

I like that spider diagram, i think i start from there.

Personally, as I only have the one account, I don't purposely link my characters together. I find it frustrating that they can never meet and yet are supposed to have this connection I can't explore in-game!

As such, all my characters are individuals, although they may end up connected to my other characters through other characters they meet who already HAVE that connection.

I actually find a generally contrived connection between characters as less satisfying from an RP point of view than one which develops through play. But that's just my 2 cents...

this is how my characters are connected together, mainly by plot, and backgrounds.

Sha'dower, "stole" a necklace from the Hunters guild and came to the city.
Drade was sent to the city to find Sha'dower, ending up helping him via the guild to save him from the necklace, now Sha'dower helps Drade out, when he can.
Suriyah was/is Drade's "wife", even if they weren't truely marriaged, but they do count down has it.
Master Dark (new) is Drade's High council member friend.

Terr'Ox was involed in a lab mistake which turned him to stone, he works along side Curran Radburn and Andrew (Battlemaster)
Curran Radburn is the team leader of the G.R.A.U.R. team working in Paragon city, which Terr'Xo and Battlemaster are part of.
Battlemaster was a normal Researcher who got stuck inside a high tech suit of future battle- armour, and is now with help trying to find a way out.
Dr. Devass Vector (villan) is... well.. the suits creator, and out to destory the world.

There thats Two plots which my characters are in, the later one has only just started up and the first is ending very soon.

Like others have said, the linkification of characters is down to personal taste... I don't have any explicit links (certainly none that I remember, if someone knows otherwise, please do tell...) but I do sometimes have characters express a knowledge of another.

The only example I can think of is between HnH and Iceflame who have met 'off screen' to conduct a business transaction but aren't really linked.

I did for a while have Spear's sister hanging around, but quickly decided I didnt like playing her so shipped her back to Canuckland faster than you can say "eh"...

If anyone can find a link between the SCC droids and any of my characters, I'll give you a fantastic prize... Some nice men in white coats will come and pick you up from your house, give you a fabulously stylish jacket with extra long sleeves, and then take you to a marvellous hotel with charming rubber wallpaper...

Going totally off track here...

Anyways. Linking characters is not a requisite of having lots of characters. But should you want to, just think of any of the mulitude of possible linking relationships you can have in real life and apply which ever one suits best.

I think it's rather neat to link your characters.
Personally I don't do it on purpose. I'm too fond of creating different origins and backstories. If they become linked it's because of RP events and such.

I "only" got 5 characters that I RP with. Three of them became linked in a haphazard way.

GoodGuy (my main obviously) is married to the Hyperion Watchman High Burn.
Dr. Furnace is a member of the Hyperion Watchmen.
Angela Mercy is a teammate of GoodGuy.

Lady Cacophony of the Last Word is not linked to the others.
Neither is Shemyazaz (my only RP villain).

IMHO Pious is the master of character-linking. A whole bunch of his alts are the same character! Cool since he has a story and reason behind it.

I have several linked toons and their background stories reflect that. My villains on Zukunft have huge stories displayed on our (German) SG-website, for my other toons I have to fit this "link-hint" somehow into that small biography box ingame.
On top of that my villains (and those of the other two leaders) in Teras Thanatos are linked by the SGs background story.

Some examples of linked toons:
Apollyon (Elec/Elec brute) and Acheron (Dark/Dark stalker) are two mutant brothers who want to force an evolution of supernatural powers in abducted humans by extreme torture and mutilation. Algesis (Mind/Psi dominator) is one successful result of their "work".
Professor Lente (Robo/Poison MM) saved the life of a dying criminal (for a price ) by converting him into the cyborg Graograman (EM/Invul brute). Now Graograman is more machine than man and usually follows the professor's directions.
Papa Sang (Thugs/Dark MM) and Mr Bakulu (Dark/Dark brute) are a Haitian houngan - a master of voudoun - and his brother. Both gained their supernatural powers during the same ritual and Papa Sang's gang consists of his serviteurs, chosen followers of his religion possessed by loa spirits.
Reverend Black (SS/EA brute) is a preacher who had roamed the countrysides with his follower, who is a seemingly mute monk only known as Brother White (a friend's MA/SR stalker) before both came to the Rogue Isles.
Doctor Moonlight (Rad/Psi defender) and Doctor Sunshine (a friend's Kin/Psi defender) were colleagues when both and their assistant Nurse Starshine (another friend's Sonic/Psi defender) were almost killed (and gained their powers) during a terrible accident in their medical clinic. (Perhaps they should have read the package insert.)
Smul Derring (AR/Fire blaster) discovered his supernatural powers during the medical treatment of a bite wound accidentally inflicted by a radioactive imp summoned by Adam Bomb (Fire/Rad controller). Actually, his "awakening" just might have something to do with the above-mentioned accident in the medical clinic.

If it has
eyes, you can blind it, if it has blood, you can make it bleed, if it has a mouth, you can make it scream.

Well, IC they aren't exactly linked. They're the one and same. Nice concept, agreed, but if you want your characters to have individual personalities and stories then that approach won't do much good.

Not true.

Feel free to link your characters anyway you want mate. Even genetically. Additionally, all my four characters are either close friends or archenemies.

All of my hero toons are part of The Dunelm Group, so in a sense the only obvious connection that they are work colleagues.

There are few more personal ties though within the group.

Eleven and Dr Brian Roberts – Dr Roberts was inspired by Eleven’s heroism to create The Dunelm Group in order to better protect the world.

Eleven and Leon Tasker – Leon was saved from being left for dead by Eleven in London 2005 in the aftermath an invasion from war machines from a parallel world. Leon was indebted to Eleven for having his life saved, and Eleven needed a new gaffer having broken away from his old masters and was unable to venture further into future battle without some form of guidance.

Eleven and Warshade Eleven – Dimensional equals. Both led the same life in their respective realities up to a point and then went different ways. Eleven became immortal, WS Eleven was supposed to die in a car wreak but at the point of death merged with a Kheldian being to become what he is now. WS Eleven sought out Eleven for reasons of spiritual and philosophical enlightenment. Eleven sees WS Eleven as the closest thing he has to a living brother….even if he won’t admit it.

Do Lo Might and The Dunelm Group – Dominic was saved by the group after he was caught up in the battle between the team and rogue scientists at his place of work. Dr Roberts tried his best to reverse the damage done to Dominic, but was unable to cure him. Dominic still indebted to the group for their efforts joins the team and begins learning with Leon, Eleven and WS Eleven on how to use his new found powers for the benefit of justice.

Leon Tasker and Eric Bridgeland – Both Brigadiers in the British Armed Forces. Close friends for years. However Eric’s radical change in morality ends up with him dishonourably discharged. The two are now somewhat rivals, but there does not seem to be any hate between each other. The respect for one another is still there, only a difference in opinions keeps them separate now.

Iron Work, Steel House and Impervium Tower – All created by the same technician. Not saying much else, because this story is not ready to be told yet!

I am also quite curious though as to where a lot of your toons are tiered compared to each other. Who is considered more powerful than the other?

I’ll start this ball rolling:

Characters have been split into Tiers. Higher on the list is consider more powerful than the name below it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Special Tier
Ranpu Tenrai (Super) Eleven
Honoo Kurai (Evil) Eleven
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
High Tier
Impervium Tower
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mid Tier
Eleven and Warshade Eleven*
Steel House
Do Lo Might
Iron Works
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lower Tier
Leon Tasker
Eric Bridgeland
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lowest Tier**
Dr Brian K Roberts
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

* - Debate continues as to which one of the two is the more powerful.

** - Tier is Non combat characters.
