Elizabeth Bathory: for her RP endeavours

    [/ QUOTE ]
Hahahah. Funniest thing i heard all week...

my list sucks, as i've been playing so long, most of the people i know have left, and i've been pulling further and further away from CoH.

Britanic: Retired now, but i've never seen someone explode onto the RP scene as fast as Brit did. He basicaly went from nobody to respected RPer within a week. And great all round guy, despite his 5 word per minute typing speed. :P

Gash Jackel: You cant be part of the RP community and NOT know Gash. I remember telling Zortel about "some [censored]", first thing she says is "Is it Gash?". Such a strong reputation.

Pious: again. as he has so much drive. I've seen lots of suggestions and ideas made, where P will just pick up and run with them. Definatly someone to rely on to get things done.

Max Powerz: Some of the only times i've had run-ins with PVP where i ended up enjoying myself, have been against Max. No smacktalk or nastyness, just a good honest fight. and the few times i've encountered him outside PVP, i've seen a good player and person.

Anyone else i would nominate are now so long gone they'd be unknown.
  2. a CRB check takes very little work to have done, possibly even less than checking work references.
You give a name, DOB, NI number, and a few details like previous addresses, it gets sent off, and in several days the CRB send you back a little certificate stating you havent ever been cautioned for mollesting farm animals.

To be honest, i doubt this will cause much, if any, disruption to forums, and in my oppinion is a good idea.
Only those without the right to work with children should worry.

because their council did not want to pay Sunday rates, so did not send the gritters out last night.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well that's just stupidity on the councils part and some one should be shot for that decision.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Maybe the people who elected them? (It's not thier money they where being tight with after all).

    [/ QUOTE ]

It was for that reason (and that they gritted the yuppy areas and where the mayor lives, but left the rest of the borough, combined with the shoddyness of my local council in general) that i was tempted to take a shovel to the town hall, and pile up snow against the doors.

Of course that would of entailed a miles walk in the snow, and unpaid manual labour, so i sat in bed and watched Charlie and the chocolate factory instead.

    Any need

I used to work in radio, where swearing at any time is a big no no .
One of the presenters slipped up, and said the F word (luckily on a pre-recorded show) and the producer pulled him up on it.
He said that for him it was a normal mode of speech and that where he's from no one thinks twice about using it in that context, but agreed to apologise for it after the track finished, in order to save having to redo the entire piece.

his "apology" ran something along the lines of:
"It's been pointed out to me that i accidently said [censored] in the previous segment of the show. I use the word [censored] in everyday language more than i should, and it is sometimes [censored] hard to remember not to use it. I apologise to anyone offended by the [censored], and i wont [censored] do it again."

That wasn't the version that finally got aired, but it had us in hysterics in the studio

I personally have a somewhat varied vocabulary, but still make liberal use of profanity. In my dialect, its used as a form of prefix similar to an exclamation mark. something that is very good becomes "[censored] awesome!".
Of course this is also a dialect where a term for a love child, or a very offensive word for ladybits are used as terms of endearment.

Unless a profanity is directed at someone, theres little to be offended by, and by fluffing your feathers and trying to take the moral high ground because some oik has used a profanity is more likely to proove offensive, especialy if the person doing so IS a person with a short vocabulary or poor education.
If someone says something you feel is inapropriate language, just ask them politely not to use it. Unless they ARE doing it to purposfully be offensive, they'll try not to.
  6. i remember doing a full psychalogical analysis of Lunk as part of regaining his licence (with the help of the GF) but never posted it, and its long lost due to system wipes.

Much of his "problems" stem from abandonment issues over the death of his parents, and later his fiancee (which lead to his first outburst and loss of liscence), compounded by a cheating first wife, causing neurotic bahaviour and depression, usualy externalised in violence to others.

His tendancy towards agressive behaviour (which had increased due to the problems above) is due to his adoptive "father" being an exentric, unstable, and occasionaly sociopathic person, and being raised in a strong millitary, and predominantly male, enviroment.

    SS and WP

Lets say that SS/WP is the godly uber setup that the OP claims it is.
Now, if that gets nerfed, and is now as powerfull as (to use as a guidline) axe/EA.
What about those who use either of those sets with a different primary or secondary?
Your DM/WP who used to be as 'strong' as axe/EA is now underpowered.
Your SS/fire now cant put out the same damage he used to, which lowers his survivability.
Nerfing a pair of powers because, if combined, they have good synergy, will not help anything. You still have a power set that works good in that combination, but less so in others, removing balance from even more combinations than you tried to fix.

And no, i dont think either are overpowered.

"in my defence, your honor, it wasn't murder, as if he was wearing a bullet proof vest, he wouldn't be dead"
  11. [ QUOTE ]

And a few have said it was acting obnoxious, well it's just who the character is, it's like saying "I can drive a car" do you think that's obnoxious? Certainly not me...

    [/ QUOTE ]
And i can wipe my own [censored], too.

the "God" chars of the veteran RPers tend to get beaten into shape to fit an acceptable slot in the comunity. They reel themselves in, so that they don't get shunned. None of them realy shout "I AM A GOD!" from the roof tops, and their powers arent flaunted.

If they dont get moulded to fit their slot in the community, they get ostrasised and laughed at. (untill they group together, and start to think that what they are doing is right. Not pointing any fingers here, but it happens)

    And <applauds Artic Princess>
  12. Step 1: Make it so that when you log into an arena terminal, it loads Warhammer, as it has possibly the only decently balanced and pick-up-and-play PVP system i've seen.

    Step 2: ???

step 3: profit (and being sued for said profit by the makers of WAR)

In all seriousness, as a non-PVPer, the most fun i had PVPing was in WAR.
Classes seem to have a role in battles, pvp has an objective beyond "killing newbs".
The whole thing seems to be balanced well, and you have to use tactics to win.
If you take part in a pvp scenario and DONT get atleast 1 kill to your name, you must be REALLY bad.
Doing things in PVP felt like you where actualy acomplishing something.
  13. [ QUOTE ]

Why do these kind of threads get such a huge ammount of 'my character is/does/acts'?

[/ QUOTE ]Because those of us who have very strong chars dont want to be put into the same group as the Godmoding chars (i call it the kiddy pool)so they make a pre-emptive justification and defence of their powers, even though it's usualy not necesary.
  14. Big_Lunk_EU

    Graphics cards

with the numbers, the first number is usualy the series, and the second the card type in that series. so a 3800 (3000 series, 800) will generaly out perform a 4200 (4000 series, lowest card type ATI make) but may not be compatible with some things like blue ray (i think thats 3000 series up though)
Same goes for the Nvidia numbering.
  15. <comes out of hibernation, and has a good stretch>
Its not just "frowned", it usualy causes shunning and scorn.

Reasons why being a god sucks balls.

    1. If your playing as a real world god, like hades, thor, some obscure dragon god from the back end of china, you're going to cause most RPers to roll their eyes and sigh.
It not only godmodes anyone who RPs as that faith to have to either see you as dilusional, or to worship you, but also causes problems when the next idiot decides he's thor.
This goes for all real world and literary figures.

    2. If you say you created the world or mankind, your a jackass. I dont care if thats what legends say in his backstory, religion is a soft spot for almost everyone, even atheists, and theres difference between a creation myth and a "god" saying "thats how it happened!".
It's going to make a lot of people rather angry.

    3. Plot breaking.
A god char will not be invited to take part in any plot which has been geared towards the mid range.
Say for example we have an aquaman comic book. Lets put superman in it. Now aquaman looks like a pathetic dick next to superman. Aquaman is now angry, as his story has been solved in 3 pages of comic, and wants to jab a fork in Superman's eye.

And i agree with FFM about the bad roleplaying. Backhanding someone THROUGH A COMMS CHANNEL? you should be ashamed of yourselfs.

But where the fun in RPing a bunch of geeks playing an MMO?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Change of pace? An excuse not to blow **** up or not see **** blown up for once? Seeing what the civilian masses think of the nutjob? :S

    [/ QUOTE ]
Sorry, i think the ironic humour of that comment has been lost on you, because, y'know, that's what WE'RE doing.

And change of pace? half the RP community do nothing but sit around, talking about the weather, kittens, and randomly changing their gender.
  17. Hmm, an open forum RP without half the community trying to kill themselves, angsting, or grabbing at the spotlight like a deranged moth. Is that possible?

Shame you're not going with the original idea of a chatroom, text or otherwise, i wouldn't of minded getting Eve in on it, as part of her 'education' involves being connected into the internet.

But where the fun in RPing a bunch of geeks playing an MMO?
  18. Thought that'd what happened when i noticed the Cage not gearing up
Big congrats, man, i'll raise a drink to your new families health once i wake up properly

The Barrington Club is never going to need a category and, frankly, neither did most of the other changes you made to the business section.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is where i have the problem with it, and why i made the post originally. The SGs, fine, most of those also have a category section, but businesses, locations and ITEMS? ffs...
  21. [ QUOTE ]
Ditto that. I'm not sure there's really that many legit changes in the past couple of days that are gonna be lost anyhoo, is there?

    [/ QUOTE ]

There has been some, and most of them are easy to find. i say we grab copies of those (in case the owners aren't aware yet) and rollback A.S.A.P before any additional changes are made by other people.

seeing as all the edits cant be shown in one 500 item list, it is possible to override that limit by just changing that number in the search url

Edit: found the following edits in the mess:
    The_Benedict_Trust
    Bassai
    Image:Bassai1.jpg
    Autumnfox
    Tenshi_Yami
    User:T-Yami
    Nitoichi
    User:Midnight_Guard

    going to grab copies.
  22. Erik, Liz, whatever you want to be called, STOP making unnecessary edits to the wikia!
You're rebuilding information pages and stubs into categories which should not be categories. Categories require subgroups, or they are not categories.
Also, adding business logos of YOUR design to OTHER PEOPLES projects without asking first is stepping over boundaries.

Changes to how the wiki is set up is the job of the wiki admin, not any individual who takes it on themselves to "improve" it.
  23. Seeing as that second draft of Z's got lost in the ether, and I've got a bit of spare time next week now all my tax hoo-ha is sorted, I was thinking of cleaning up and sticking this in the Wiki.
Has there been any developments in the last X months that should be mentioned?

    5 TFs, 3 Trials

All under 2 hours, easily (Trials = 29 mins personal record, TFs varying)

    [/ QUOTE ]
so lets say that at 2 hours a TF, 1 hour a trial, not including breaks between...
    That's a total of 13 hours.
    Over half a day.

if you get home from school/work at 4, and play cox non stop until 12 midnight, that's 8 hours.

This system isn't unfair on villains, or heroes. if its unfair to anyone, its to the casual gamer who doesn't spend 24 hours a day grinding for something meant as a perk for doing something we'd been doing anyway.

    World Villains

application to have Charles Huxley recruited as a grunt/lackey.
He's no planner, but he wants to make a change to society, especially any change that involves being allowed to kill vast numbers of people.
Just don't leave him alone with any hostages, he's a little f****d in the head.
