Oh my god, you mean the matches won't look like a bunch bunnies on crack? Someone film it, be nice to have

also this

For heavyweight only training, double and single origin enhancements are allowed. Since all matches take place on the test server, hamidon enhancements can be easily replaced. This will be checked frequently and any violation will cause the exclusion of the entire team from the C4.

They never heard that I9 was coming out?? What's next? No inspirations?

They had the same rules for the Brighton comic con competition. I personally don't think travel powers should ever be allowed in arena matches. I mean how can you say your good at pvp if you cant fight with out travel powers.

Why would anyone have Training or Double Origin Enhancements??

By beating everyone? There's a reason top level PvP fights have travelpowers on. You'd think we'd have them off if it was better that way.

besides, Bantamweight fights don't even have the option of travelpowers. I personally don't see the point in enforcing certain types of playstyles by adding these silly rules. If you prefer to fight without travel powers, just field a Bantamweight team.

[Zitat=Robin] We now that we can't make everyone happy with our rules, but be sure, we thought a long time about the ruleset before we released them.
To make some things more clear:
HO's
We do not know, how many times someone fought against hamidon, so we can't check, if he duplicated some of his HOs or not. Thats why they aren't allowed.
Travelpowers
We thought a long time about this part and came to the conclusion that it maybe is more fun without them. Personaly, travelpowers where the most annoying things for me at the S4. Sure it takes away some possible tactics, on the other side, it offers you new ones.
We expected that this issue will come up, but we think that pvp can be even more fun without everyone "jumping and running around like on crack".
If afterwards the majority says it was [censored], ok. Then this rule will be change for the next event.
For this one mabye just try to see it as a little challenge.
IOs
As this came up on the official boards. This rules where made mid december. Also we planned to start far earlier but due to communication problems with ncsoft, we weren't able to do so. Because we didn't knew when I9 would be released, we excluded IOs.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hope this makes it a bit clearer.

How can you say you are good at PvP if you cant fight with travel powers? The PvP in this game is meant to be fast paced and no travel power takes away that extra dimension which makes it different to almost every other game out there.
You seriously think that blaster vs. tank or scrapper duels would be fairer and more representative of player skill if there were no travel powers? Or for that matter anyone duelling an opponent with an overwhelming amount of slows or toggle debuffs?
In team PvP I don't believe it makes it fairer either, I actually believe it makes certain AT combinations ridiculously overpowerful and some powersets even less useful than in regular, unadulterated PvP.
The HOs thing is ridiculous, because unless they get some official backing they can't police it. And why exactly should I strip my fully HOd build (every one gained on Union) because they don't have any? This isn't really an issue for me though, and I would be willing to replace them all with SOs, but combined with the no travel powers rule, it's just all a bit gimpy.

As i already mentioned, HO's aren't allowed because we can't check if someone duplicated them or not. It has nothing to do with how often someone fought against hamidon and that it wouldn't be fair if someone has more or less HO's.
The only reason why they are forbidden is because you can duplicate them too easily on test, nothing else.
If this wouldn't be possible, we would allow HO's.
If we would allow them, we would have to check that only the HO's that a char has on his real server are used on test, which would be a lot of work, dependent on how many teams will take part.
About the Travelpower rule, we currently discuss about removing it due to some good points mentioned by Xhantus.
The rules where made with best intentions. But if someone points out valid things, we are more than willing to change the rules. The whole event should be for players from players. So make valid points, write them down in a friendly tone of voice and we'll see what we can do, to make the rules as acceptable as possible for everyone.

I concur whole-heartedly, Valens turns what I was thinking into clear points, and I therefore don't need to repeat them. Only thing I care about is how this is delaying Omnipotent really . . .

"You should come inside the box... Then you'll know what I mean."
As I said, the HO thing isn't really an issue for me, | was just curious as to how you were planning to check people's enhancements?
Some people enjoy no travel power PvP, and you've had some positive response regarding that, so if you want to go ahead with the original rules then by all means please do so. It's just not something I'm personally a fan of.
I wouldn't have thought that kin not providing any boost to speed would be something that would sway your decision on this matter, though. If the kin buffs did provide a significant boost it would make kin hugely overpowered and essential to any team wanting to compete in this format, and therefore making the tournament completely unfair, which is what you were trying to avoid by using this rule in the first place?
And just so you know, they will give you some boost to speed and jump, but the cap can be reached through other powers if you slot correctly.

Indeed it is. Because you are only allowed to have one defender per team, you have to decide what is more iportant for you. The speed bonus of kinetics or debuff from rad/dark etc.
At least this was our train of thoughts.
So again, everyone is welcome to make suggestions for improvements.
But you can have three, a Controller a Defender and a Corruptor, allowing for emp, kin and thermal or rad or anything really...
@Rooks
"You should come inside the box... Then you'll know what I mean."
This travel power argument is funny. (Professional fence straddler at work)
Surely you can just argue that if you are the best it doesn't matter if you have travel powers or not seeing as the option to turn travel off is a part of the arena and thus pvp in general. And these overpowered builds you speak of, why not attempt to counter them a different way than you would of normally. I like the whole fast pacedness of PvP but I also like variety and so no travel is appealing.
(I didn't read all the other posts, I'm just gonna wait for someone to point out they already mentioned a point I just made)
Also, gimped pvp ftl? And there was me thinking PvP was already gimped, ho ho ho.

No. At least in this tournament mixed teams aren't allowed.
So a controller and a defender, yes. But again you would have to abandon another set.
Either way you would have to choose what fits best into your team.
I think you can't have heroes and villains on the same team tho. Still a troller and a defender are allowed

That maybe just because you are not good at it?
I may not be good at it but I enjoy it. And whats not gimped about it? There are best power sets for it and I'm just kinda sick of Ice/Nrg all over the gaff.
Im interested in how they can check peoples slotting for HOs....
and no travel is stupid for a number of reasons, it doesnt turn off travel is supresses all movement speed. For example my BS/SR can move at 46mph unsupressed with no travel powers or elude, except in no travel matches all we have is supressed base speed for everyone. SB becomes less useful and IR is pointless. Personally I would like a no travel match but forced supression over powers that are NOT travel powers is wrong.
