PvP and waste of time on it from the Devs

K, basically the only way I play & will ever play this game is making characters I like, with sets I like to use and interest me.
I do like PvP, but I get it hard a bit as I have afew characters that do have a really hard time the way PvP is in reality.
Unfortunately, I'll never make a pure PvP build at all, as where I try to do a bit of research and learn about builds, PvP viable sets seem to drift well away from what I want conceptually for my character and my enjoyment of it.
There seem to be quite a few sets and combinations that really rule the coop, and tbh I just got to the stage where I'm bored seeing them.
I like relaxed PvP with unusual stuff and pretty much tend to just PvP quietly in arena with friends.
I'm not moaning that every set should be the same and everyone should have identikit heroes, but in the first case point I'm saying why I probably don't put much weight behind PvP as I might.

-> Yup. They took far too long to 'balance' things.

-> Nope. Coz it most likely kept more players in the game that prolly would have left if they weren't given something more to do than start a new Alt.

-> Eeeesh. Get some sleep TG. Like at least 8 hrs a night! PvE in CoX* is so lame that it doesn't surprise me that a group of ppl prefer to PvP. Theres no real challenge within the PvE aspect, whereas PvP offers a real knife-edge get-ya-blood-flowing experience which is not matched in any other part of the game.

Isn't it obvious there'll be more people in pvE than PvP zones?
I mean until they introduce free respecs, PvP Hami-os, PvP patron arcs and the ability to level to 50 without ever entering a PvE zone i'm kinda forced to go there if I want to level or upgrade at some point.
Players in PvP missions don't really count, it's still just PvE. I love PvP, my whole SG does and most of the coalition, in fact I rarely meet someone who despises it, but I guess that's because I walk in different circles to the non-pvp'ers.
In fact i'm kinda annoyed at how spiteful people seem t obe towards PvP, if you've no interest don't drop by, bash the thread and say you don't want changes as it doesn't interest you.
I couldn't care less if RP pr PvE was changed or not, but i'm not going to go out of my way to ruin thier chances of getting something.
This is not about how many people are in PvE zones.This is about claims that PvE people are entitled more because PvP is an abomination.And that because PvP was introduced later there should be no real effort in making something out of it.Because some people dont like PvP.
So what? Some dont like it and some have never tried it and if they did with the proper incentives and reworks of the current model this game prolly would end up with a larger PvP player base.

Same argument really it seems. Also couldn't this be argued to stop nearly any changes? Don't fix (AT/power set)! The majority don't play (AT/Power set) so it doesn't need changes! More people play Male characters, don't introduce new costumes for female charcters!

Yeah apparently the majority doenst play Villains so Villains should not be any more developed.
PvP is an important part of the game, and the effort the devs have spent on trying to balance it shows that they think it's important too.
But PvE is still the main aspect of the game - the game couldn't work if it wasn't.

PvP community is involved in PvE as much as every hardocre PVE player and in fact even more due to stretching AT's and builds to their limits.I dont see how PvP development has ANYTHING to do with affecting PvE.

The only things people want is Thermals, and then they're just a compliment to Empaths with thier Res shields, not even as good when it comes to other buffs or heals.

Dont get me wrong. I agree. I just thought I was one of about 5 who thought that. Seems most people say "lol. pvp is balanced, learn to play and get a team", or "I pvp'd as a villain in bloody bay once for about 5 minutes and owned" while laughing up there sleeve. Then at the next pvp event they are like "I'm playing an ice/em blaster and would really like to team with an empath, preferably ill/emp".

I would say PvE needs looked at alot more than PvP in CoX. Unless they add ALOT more end game content soon or raise the level cap this game is doomed. Theres no point in adding low level stuff as you out level it in a day or two.
PvP in this game suffers from lack of players. IMO the reason we have lack of players is cause the PvE is to repetitive. End game = roll an alt.
It would seem your a little bit mifed about this TG, i can understand why though.
I posted in the other thread but il just go over what i said, im not a pvper but even i see the need to give that aspect of the game a boost, imo it was added in as an after thought and left to die.
If the devs want the pvp action to continue in cox they do need to give it some thought and even balance it to let casual pvpers like me take part on an even field by allowing a unlimted respec option of some kind so as not to gimp pve builds.
So no i dont think the devs wasted there time on pvp but i do feel there kind of letting it die, most of the majority i think understand this game is no longer pve and that the pvp community needs to be looked after as well.

I am not miffed really i am just furstrated to see such beliefs popping that PvP is an abomination on the ridicilous arguement that it was launched after PvE.
And i am even more furstrated to see the devs having a community that is telling them right in their face some very basic solutions to enhance PvP experience and draw masses to the zones and they are blind.
The point is that once content in terms of endgame is looked uppon PvP should be one of the urgent parts to be developed within this game or they can kiss a very big number of the player base goodbye with games like Huxley and Age of Conan that will be offering some very immense and innovative PvP.And despite what people think about who is the majority around here the only true endgame CoX has atm (WHICH IS NOT ALTS FFS!) is PvP,Hamidon and LRSF for villains.And from all these guess which is more challenging and fun. (i personally take some nice long naps during Hamidon with heal auras on auto and wake up asking coffee)

Top-tier large-team Arena fighting - which I presume is what you're talking about given the content of your post, but correct me if I've misunderstood - is a pretty specialised form of PvP that pretty much requires a "perfect" make-up with regard to powersets. Melee types are pretty much overlooked completely, MMs are unwieldy in all but very small teams, and Doms are a bit of a wildcard that most people don't want to risk playing - when it all boils down to a question of highest (ranged) damage and best buffers/debuffers, it's not really surprising that you end up with teams of Blasters, Defenders, Controllers (overwhelmingly Ill/* at that) and the odd Corruptor.
That's not to say that Villains are any weaker in (more casual) zonal PvP, which I'd tender is where the majority of PvP takes place in CoX - they just don't provide the best buffs, so they often don't get a look-in for Arena (at that level). Fact is, most Zonal PvP tends to see a swing in the balance of power between Heroes and Villains, which says to me that whilst things are not and will not ever be perfectly balanced (because that would be [censored] impossible), they're balanced enough for the purpose.

That's just numbers in zones. 6 Villians will beat 3 heros and vice versa pretty much regardless of spec (unless it's an Emp Blaster combo ;_. It's not an indication of balance at all.

Not in my experience; 'cel and I have held our own as a villain duo numerous times against far superior numbers (and superior numbers of heavies), and not just against casual/non-PvPers either. I've also witnessed other people achieve the same thing - mainly in RV as of late, as that's where I spend most of my time these days, although I do fondly remember watching a Plant/Thorns Dom completely dismantling roving groups of heroes in Sirens, solo. YMMV.

PVP was here in CoH back in the Alpha stages, there is a video on youtube somewhere (I'm at work right now and can't find it, shouldn't really be on here *shush*)
I love PVP its a shame that it hasn't taken off as some other games has.
I would really love running up to a hero / villian (other faction) in a normal shared zone and killing them (like wow) and killing them right off.
Some people like PVP and some people don't - you cannot force PVP on people who don't like it.
For me PVP makes a game but I cannot leave this game, I have tried but I always come back because I love it sooo much

Based on this thought some things on this game shouldnt exist basically because they are not addressed to the majority.
