Write a novel in a month! NaNoWriMo 2006 for CoH
[ QUOTE ]
His Snake On The Plains.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ouch. I knew SOMEONE was going to, I just didn't know who...
Is it time for the dance of joy yet?
The more I think about this, the more tempted I become. It's just how to combat the 6 days without a PC, as I'm a very slow hand-writer.
... erotica.. hmmm.. NO!!
I refuse to do it... must.. not... argh!! Maybe just a little somewhere. Do you gotta post it all on the website when you finish? I know i can churn out 80 pages of utter balls in a month but only if no-one can read how bad it is ^_-
ok, i vow that the end of the month will have all the word count needed
I could write 50,000 words in under a day.
The word "A" written fifty thousand times over counts, yes?

You don't have to show a single word to anyone. All you have to do is write. And 'have to' must be understood in the proper context here.
Then again you can post your story in here (I think CoXness might be expected) or anyplace else.
I'm not going to write cox. i just don't have enough people-friendly writing in me on that subject.
What I will write though is about the history of a play-by-forum rpg i once upon a time had (and am trying to ressurect) so then i've hit two birds with one stone weather or not i get the word count.
and no FG "a" 50k times doesn't count.. I don't think you could call it slash fiction at all..

Tongue in cheek but since I'm forumwhor... posting I'll answer anyway. From NaNoWriMo rules:
Can I write one word 50,000 times?
No. Well... No.
Check the rules, folks. Not because there'd be a need but I was asked if there was an age limit and I didn't know for sure. Now I noticed it's mentioned there. If you have questions, maybe FAQ and Rules have answers readily available.
Or ask here and someone's bound to answer.
And the answer to age limit was - no, there is no age limit.
Less than four days to go. Level up now, soon it'll be tougher.

Hmm. Okay. What if I write the entire "(number) bottles of beer on the wall" song, starting from 1,923?
"X bottles of beer on the wall. X bottles of beer. You take one down, and pass it around, X(-1) bottles of beer on the wall."
Starting from 1,923, that gives me exactly 50,000 words. Or, I could just write all of Purple Flower. That'll give me a couple of hundred thousand words right there!
wouldn't that be plagerism though :-P

Firstly, get out of Stasis' head. That's exactly what she said.
Secondly, nope. Far as I know, that three hour joke I love to tell is public domain. Besides, why would I want to copy it down from memory, when I can just write my own stuff?

My favourite ones are "Drumming must never cease" and "The man who loved Tina Turner". Excellent fun for long drives, just be out of the car when it's time to hit the punchline.
Against my better judgement (which I appear to have misplaced) I have signed up to the writing thingy...
It should be fun. I've always had ideas floating around so it's time to hook out my archives of Word Documents with the beginnings, middle and endings of half-finished ideas and, perhaps, turn 'em into something!
Oh and it will probably be loosely-related to Superhero antics, but doubtless not set in Paragon or its environs.
Oh and FG? X bottles of beer on the wall is fine - but what's their motivation for being there? Where is the wall. What lead them to being there. Why must they be drunk, what do they think?!! Will someone please think of the bottles!

Gah! It's a writing exercise, not a psychology class! *whimper*

I'd suggest calculating the gap in. Assume you have only 24 days to do it in, set a daily quota and meet it. If during the 6 days you scribble anything by hand it's a bonus.
Or borrow someone's old laptop that is not much good except for typing. Assuming you have electricity during your hiatus.

[ QUOTE ]
50,000 words in a month works out at 1700 a day, which is a lot...
[/ QUOTE ]
Naaaah. It's only, what? 2.5, 2.6 pages a day. Of course, once you get into that groove, you'll do a large stretch of wordage. Back in '99, I did 30 pages in a week...and that was when I had a deadline of six months.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm just teh same with being able ot make 2.5 or more pages daily. Really 1700 words a day seems kinda small unless I am on one of my off days when nothing comes to mind..but that's when my music comes in.

I woudln't think so unless you had the 50k as just the starting point "A (X50k) Car drove down the road."

My laptop unfortunately has no power lead at the moment as it broke just before I moved, otherwise I'd be slightly less worried.
My money should be coming through mid-November, so I may be able to very tightly get the power-plug before I have my week-of-stuff. (Although, around the weekend of the 25th November, my time gets spent with someone much more important )

Sooo...he's meeting this "Alice" is he?
...I'm Alice silly (well not everyday but you know) I'm putting two and two together and and remembering to shut the hell up as it's none of my business, but commentary and quoting through the looking glass are very old habits. Bad ones too.
Aha, of course, of course...
...uhm, ahe - yes. That notebook that I'm writing in isn't anything to do with NaNoWriMo. Nonono, I'm most certainly not taking direct quotes from you or even thinking about writing a story about a Hoplite by day, Alice by night...
...look, would you just stop staring?
...honestly, it's nothing to do with my entire plot and the possible mental, emotional and physical problems it could cause you.
Honest.
Ok, so Stase has got Hoplite Erotica and Ben has the ENTIRE Purple Flower Joke.
I don't know which one I fear most.
Oh and DW, not a word before November the 1st or the guilt monkeys will get you. Alraedy had to tell FG off
I'm thinking of doing the story of my main villain, having been inspired by recent programmes I've watched. (And to Weasel's probable relief, I don't mean Torchwood )
However, 100 pages of story could spread things a bit thin, to the point of: "He looked at the wall. It was very flat, the wall. Flat and smooth. Flat and smooth like all walls should be."
[ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ]
Correction, sir, you "told me off" when you were under the impression that I listened to Stasis when she told me to put Dark Mirror up, which already HAS about 40,000 words. Since that isn't what I'm doing...nyeeeeer.
[ QUOTE ]
For anyone who's worried about the amount of words needed:
It's only 80 A4 pages, using size 12 font.
Doesn't sound too daunting that way .
[/ QUOTE ]It does when it takes you a week to produce even half a page
