Is Lusca a squid, or an octopus? I can never remember...
[/ QUOTE ]
Lusca is actually a family of octopi.

Ok, Aardy - one for you:
- Include your favourite author somewhere in the story.
- Bonus points if the actual author appears.
- x2 Bonus points if the author comments on your main character's ability to write.
- x3 Bonus points if it's a compliment.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh dear.... I'm still predicting minimal points there then

Remember the hint Aardy. Write about the Writer's block
Just hit 3,300. I think. Oh, but by GOD does that website load slow!
Write about your character, your favourite author and your story's main character in an intimate situation!

(Following is sarcastic, but you all knew that anyway)
.... the ship tore itself violently against the wind, and the captain found herself crawling, inch by inch, towards the engineering deck. Suddenly she developed writer's block and had to give up.
The ship exploded, scattering itself across Jupiter's turbulent windshears.

I know, I know. Actually that kinda helped. I have an idea now..... *returns to the novel*

First chapter finished, and I managed to write a heck of a lot about...well, almost nothing.
I'm seeing if it'll fit neatly on the Creative board, if not, I'll host it somewhere else to download.

Based on the "Adopt-A-Dare" thread on the NaNo forums:
- Everyone no matter what they're writing, genre/timeframe etc, must include a reference to City Of Heroes/Villains.
-Bonus points if this happens in every chapter.
- x2 Bonus points if your character appears.
- x3 Bonus points if your character ends up in an intimate situation with your story's main character.

I'm writing a story set in Paragon City and the Rogue Isles, starring my main villain, and some cameos from other characters I have, or other peoples. Do I win by default?
[/ QUOTE ]
my characters are too set in Paragon and rouge islands, as I mention they are my villlain and hero within them and they are romanticaly involved at a certain point. Also my friend's ones are in it to with their own romantic involvement. surely that must be x4 for that too.

[/ QUOTE ]
Seeing how my character is also the main protagonist it would contain a solo act, so to say. Then again, I wrote that into my last NaNo piece so why not now?
Fine.
Dare accepted.

I could only possibly manage the first, at a stretch, no chance of the bonus points
Bleh. I managed just over 600 words so far, but I was writing by hand and therefore had to type it up when I got in, just going to load up my excerpt, then I'm going to put the kettle on and settle in for the evening, see how far I get.
I'm glad Caerwiden has supplied me with chocolate. Taste the Difference chocolate, no less.
I've booked an extra two days holiday towards the end of November, just in case...

Yes! Wait. What does rhetoric mean again?
Good, old fashioned Victorian Norfolk name anyone? Or do I just refer to her as "Cook"? She is a minor character after-all.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry I know this post may be late, (well no reply to it), also I've kind of been caught up with things...
But rhetoric.. well */em knuckles*
A "rhetor" (from Greek) which is in English an 'orator', so rhetoric is the art that orators practise, i.e technique of public speaking. Although it can be used in a derogatory sense i.e "mere rhetoric", to diminish something's seriousness.
Anyway, just calling Cook, 'Cook' would be viable. Although to children/youngers the Cook I'm not sure would be called "Cook".. ... ah dunno totally.... although I know words! Yes words!!!!
Intruigingly Nanny is apparently a real surname... the more you know!
Also I'm studying/revising Greek Vocabulary now for a test tomorrow.... so ... erm ... yanno, any more questions on stuff... or something and I'll help!
Chiefette
Thanks Chiefy, but I was being sarcastic .

If you're still looking for a name, my family tree of that era includes the following first names several times: Ann, Julia, Edith, Agnes, Mary, Elizabeth, Lucy and Hannah. And surnames haven't changed much.

try having a 16 hour work day. i hate public transport.
Okay - have just updated the excerpt on site with what I've written tonight - it starts about half way through the first chapter and gives a greater indication of characters than the previous prologue did.

Woohoo! I have just finished my first chapter (of 28), and it's over my daily word target so I'm happy with that start.
If the site behaves, I'll upload my new word count now. I might change the excerpt tomorrow to the beginning of chapter 2.
YWriter, I'm finding, is handy for structuring chapters and checking word usage etc, but I'm doing my actual writing in Open Office because it's easier to view.

Be careful with OpenOffice. I'm using it, and it appears to word-count differently to the official site. Best thing to do, is make sure you try and go a little bit over your word allowance each day.
Argh! It would have to start this wednesday! I've had a full day of 6th form, an apoointment at the bank, work from 5-8 and straight after I had to do a churchy thing that I expected to take half an hour, but no, 2 HOURS!!! And the lethal combination of curry and coco pops has made feel quite ill. But I NEED to start!
Frogue is my buddy name by the way. I hope to have atleast some kind of excerpt up by tomorrow morning... Not looking promising though... *Yawns*
