Who are you then? I don't recall bouncing away from Syn in the zone, which means you have some nom de guerre that I don't know.

You're expecting Villians to act with honor?

[/ QUOTE ]
No, but we're players, not heroes, not villains, but PLAYERS. If you want to roleplay a specific kind of character, a person can feel free too. The difference is, actual roleplay is consensual, the parties involved in roleplay know that they are interacting with a constructed personna for the sake of storylines, drama and entertainment. If someone tries to roleplay with someone who isnt roleplaying in return, then you are inflicting your character upon someone else. Having a villain character is not an excuse to act like a moron AS A PLAYER interacting with other players.

I havent been following this thread, too many pages to catch up and I dont expect anything of worth, or anything new to appear that we dont already know or havent already thought of. Hope I didnt miss some point that came prior to what I quoted, but honestly, I get sick of hearing it like it has some bearing on things :P

I know you've been trying to find ways to have a go at me ever since we crossed paths in a Controller thread that I proved you incorrect in, but could you maybe be a little less obvious in stalking me? It'll be more fun for both of us that way.

Firstly, if you're in a PvP zone, you will be attacked. There's a great big popup you get every time you enter the zone to that effect, it can't be hard to remember it. Secondly, if people reply to me in a polite/intelligent/non-aggressive manner, then I extend the same courtesy to them - respect is a two-way street. (I've gone as far to as not only not attack other polite players, but defend them from attack in Warburg, or switch sides in Sirens/BB.) Thirdly, the character in question was more than able to defend themselves/escape if they wanted to (Regen Stalker).

I don't go into the zone to observe matches and find duelling partners - that's what the arena is for - and I expect the same of others. To be assailed with a barrage of profanities and playground insults (that I couldn't post, in order to conform to the forum rules) is not what I expect, and I generally single out people who do so as targets - not for vengeance, or any lofty moral stance, but because I enjoy going idiot hunting for the gems of conversation that usually result from it - my guilty pleasure. I much prefer fighting the better PvPers - if they're not around I have to fight someone, and it might as well be the amusing ones.

As you've said, your view of Zonal PvP is not the one shared by the developers, so it's probably just as well you don't enter the zones. I have my own PvP code, secondary to the rules of Zonal PvP, but I don't expect anyone else to share it, nor do I expect the Zones to be my own personal playground for me and my buddies.

Stories about warriors with "honour" and "respect" are inevitably written by the victors, who used every single damn method they could to win. They will lie. They will cheat. They will do whatever is necessary. If they have an oppotunity to stab an enemy in the back, the only regret they will feel is that the enemy wasn't also asleep at the time.

A person in a PvP zone has activly opted into a zone in which they may be attacked at any time. Just because a person is hanging around in Sirens watching a duel, they are not "honourable". They have done nothing to earn my "respect". It is not "bad manners" to attack them. No, a person hanging around in Sirens unprotected is simply an individual with a big sign on their head saying "Darwin Award Candidate".

Now, if people would set up fake duels to lure in the unwary, they would truely be worthy of respect.

A true warrior would live by the rules of honour and respect in and outside battle. A samourai would commit seppuku from shame when he'd act like many people in the zones do. To stick with the picture: they are like shameless ninja's: no honour. -for the record i'm not just talking stalkers here, although they fit the picture best being stealthy assasins.

It could have been someone elses quote just the same, but it happened to be yours. Nothing personal here.
That you take it personally is your thing, but just don't try shove it in someone elses shoes. As you said let's keep it fun

Btw i don't like stalkers, so myself i'd never stalk anyone. You are giving yourself way too much credit.

Monkey is the name of a TV series made in Japan concerning a Chinese legen, as I recall. Not sure why the original person used the reference since Monkey would do just about anything he was allowed to get the job done. Something by Kurowsawa might have been a better choice, The Seven Samauri perhaps.

Having read the first page I have to agree with everyone else.

People will moan if you beat them, best thing to do is beat them again, after a while they will leave and the zone becomes a better place.

The broadcast channel I believe is the favoured channel because everyone can hear it, the default disabled villain/hero chat contributes to the use of broadcast IMO.

It does sound like as a brute you are apologising a little too much, please stop that. Remember if I didn't have my bots you could kill me please remember to point this out to me if I ever kill you.

Darklimb

Just another voice in the mix here to say that you did nothing wrong, Wuffles and should keep on keeping on.

The thing that really grates on me at the moment is all the crying in broadcast when people die, even in a fair fight.

"You can't beat me unless it's 2-v-1!"
"That was 6-v-1 you gankers!"
"I only had 10 hit points!"
"I was resting!"

and yesterday, having never seen the excuse before, I twice saw "You can only kill me when I'm running a long animation!"

It's PvP. If you're in the zone, you're a target and you may well be a target for multiple enemies.

I can't turn broadcast off, because some heroes are absolutely worth talking to, but I just hate the endless crying on and on. I understand totally the "I'll get you!" mentality, but it's just so refreshing to meet people who die in the "right" spirit.

I'd rather people [broke the EULA and] swore at me and told me how they were going to render me into minced meat than generated reason number one million about how their death wasn't fair.

All the ganking,

[/ QUOTE ]

Dont.. I expect to be ganked myself. There is nothing wrong in being tp foed, feared and then being piled upon by 4 brutes when playing a squishy blaster without defenses.. Thats what happened to me yesterday. Did I complain? No. I rezzed at hospital, put on SS and CJ while in rez animation and hurried back fast as I could

Actually I think there was at least full team + some villains , corruptor, 2 stalkers and 4-5 brutes thoroughly owning the area around hero base, and there seemed to be mostly just my team of 3 blasters to oppose them.. I didnt complain

Eventually I got some my SG pals to help, we got team to about 6 persons and the fighting moved to the center statue and was quite even for a while, although I believe we were still fewer in number. Later on we got to full team and more heroes showed up and heroes gained control of the zone , totally outnumbering the villains. At the end only a bubble mastermind and some stalkers seemed to be left.. And for some reason MM was talking about how buffed we were... as if he had a right to be untouchable heheh.. and stalker talked (complained) about insps.. oh well.
They didnt hear me complaining when I was outnumbered. And I put "hehe" or "" at the end if I do to signify im joking..

And if I had left back then I'd have missed our moment of triumph..

I still think that people dont see the zones from the right point of view, especially if they mention "ganking". Arena is for 'fights'. Zones are essentially WAR zones. Its not a pleasant place. Youre not supposed to really look at the numbers just like a soldier of war isnt gonna shout "unfair" if theres more than one person against him..

Zones are about masses of players, not individuals. Right now the problem is lack of players, and thus the balance of power may shift quite dramatically back and forth. Sometimes the other side has total control, sometimes they are complete underdogs. This is inevitable and only solution is more players.. So that sides AS A WHOLE are more balanced against each other..

I think that some people got lulled to false sense of security now when the zones are mostly empty.

[ QUOTE ]

backstabbing, whining, childish acts, lame excuses, ranting and stupid remarks over broadcast/local, etc really puts me off.

[/ QUOTE ]
Well this may be different but these propably are related to the issue above.. I wonder what sort of backstabbing are we talking about? Warburg type? or if its just stalkers stabbing me from behind when im fighting someone else, well thats normal.
We will never get rid of whiners, best thing is to just filter them out somehow.

Glad to see someone else with a similar mindset, I've walked (Super-travelled) out into the warzone against the odds. If I've been 'ganked' and sent on a one-way ticket back to hurtville, I pick myself up, give the nurse a wink and get straight back into it.

A good day in PvP is when I look up from the floor and see that it took x+ villains/enemies to take me down and in the meantime, one of their number came with me; I'm happy with that result.

btw, that crazed German kid footage? Holy Mc Sh*t, that is funny as hell and is definately getting spammed to everyone i know.

Me three. Having just walked out of another zone where friendly banter turned to petitions and multiple heroes took it in turns to beat upon one villain, and then blamed it on stalkers; it's just becoming a chore.
