He told us all here
[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks Darkforce.
I should have really made sure that somebody saw my post before going walkies, really. Sorry about the confusion, I was kinda hoping I wouldnt be one to add to it, but it just goes to show, eh? Im going MIA from Paragon because life-problems are giving me hassle, and my brother Seraph Moth (if any knows him) will be out of the game for just one month as he is going on holiday. Sorry to get off-subject and all, but someone locked my goodbye thread for no discernable reason, and that just didnt cheer me up at all :P
*grumblegrumble*
The thread was a sorta 1-week warning deal, because I rarely logged in, so if someone wanted to get in touch they'd need to leave a message on my global for me to pick up. Today is my last day before its cancelled, so, cheers for the tourny, and putting up with me whilst I was around! Just over a year of gaming with everyone, odd how it seems to fly by, eh? -
I hate to jump on the bandwagon of abandoners and make your job even more frustrating, but i've only really been logging in to play these PVP matches alone. Im going to be leaving CoX, so on the if and when I dont attend, its because I decided to stop pelting people with stools. The ones you sit on. As seats. >.>
It would be easier to take me off the list now, then it wont prey on my mind. Thanks for the tournament, it was good whilst it was going -
Thats just because stalker AT's seem to create a lot of sloppy players, who then think that stalkers are underpowered when it comes to the crunch. The skillful stalkers stand out, because it seems there are so few of them that truly excel or even seem to know more than the very basics.
It goes both ways, clear-minds and other quick +perception powers do have a habit of nullifying stalkers ability to hide, but stalkers ability to nullify -players- kind of makes it needed. Its an arms race, where when the hide strength escalates to the point of no-detection, the detection strength escalates to give themselves a fighting chance. Its a see-saw thing, stalkers really like hide, and non-stalkers really like being able to hit the instant mass-damagers. The gray area is very small, and casual players in the hide/detect equasion are instantly squished. You need godly amounts of perception and godly amounts of stealth to be effective amongst people making an effort. The ones who are ahead by even a little, often have the major upper hand. The game of nullification is a harsh one. xP -
Until we recieve word from Xanthus or Morgan, or failing that, until all Round 4 matches have actually taken place, we should hold back. Gather as usual if you must, but I suspect things have finally melted with the football going on
-
I wonder what happens if someone was caught off-guard by those NPC's that crowd around the lines of the enemy base, being reduced in health, and then finding themselves tele-droned. Does droning count as a valid 'trigger' to this proportional debt?
-
I really didnt envy your position in that match, but you still kept at it and got a few decent hits in. Got me worried a few times, but thanks to Katie-Ann and her slows, nearly all of the threat of being smothered at melee was gone. You saw the match through to the end, and sometimes thats all you can do (power mismatches or opposing teams that compliment each other too well). Well fought!

Excellent, they actually listened to our suggestions, woot!
Though, the pain of this is when a stalker decides to off you in one, when you're in the middle of fighting NPC's. Normally this would be -somewhat- safe if you were already hurt, the stalker could remove you with AS without the worry of the NPC getting in the final hit.
Now all it will do is guarantee you debt that you were going to 'heal off'. Oh well, I suppose that means there is absolutely no excuse to go rake the NPC's in the PVP zones now, eh? Its going to be nasty for hotspots in Sirens Call though. I havent been back to PVP since i7 came back, I dont suppose they thinned out the number of NPC mobs at all did they? Couldnt swing my [cough] without hitting a bloody NPC.
[/ QUOTE ]
I take there is sarcasm in this post, yes?
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually at first I was happy they had listened to us, then straight after I really took that in, I grimaced. Our original idea was to prevent an NPC from technically getting the kill on a player, because they landed a DoT attack that did -1 damage every few seconds, and that was what finished them (during a heated fight between players).
Or just to scale the debt done by an NPC kill, to how much actual damage the NPC did. So if a player finished you, still no debt, but if the NPC killed you, the debt would be worked out on a scale of how much damage they did to contribute to your KO. -

Great night to have not slept at all in.
Man, that doesnt even make sense...
I havent been sleeping very well recently, done an all-nighter thanks to a hyperactive mind that wont shut off. My performance is going to be even worse than usual x3 -

am able to make any evening. Tells in game to @Cambo will get either me or my son.
The defiant one of the family.

We'll leave it until the Thursday gathering unless one of us has a problem getting there -
For those looking to organise our match, you can get in touch with me through @Archelon, but I havent been on too much recently. Leave me an offline message through the tell system and i'll come whenever you want our match to take place.

Hmm, i'll be up against smirk..

1) there is a kind of avalanche effect. When a few people leave, more will follow.
[/ QUOTE ]
and coming onto the forums 2 before the 3rd round and saying 'its doomed' really helps that fall out factor.
Pessimism never made anything fail? nope, if enough people read 'doooom' and believe it, it will fail because of that negative pessimistic attitude.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, if people read 'doooom' and believe it, nothing happens. Its when they dont turn up that it actually effects things. Yeah, so I called it too early, I was wrong. Its called a mistake. You know what? They happen. And I sure you might make one too someday. Thing is, words can be used in more than one way, and whilst I might not have been very articulate that I just meant "oh boy gee golly-whizz, there sure are a lot of people missing!", do I really need all this nitpicking?
And if I go back, yep, it does read heavier than I intended it. But what exactly is it that you want? Gerroff my back already, go on, get! *waves hands too shoo people away from magnifying the mistake* -
1) I didnt think it would fail initially, I thought it would have difficulties. Even the official S4 tourney had a good deal of drop-outs, including my team. Arena events are built upon the combatants will to compete. Its kinda like trying to hold a war, but nobody turns up, heh. In my eyes, there is a kind of avalanche effect. When a few people leave, more will follow. Naturally there is a core of players here that will turn up every time (providing RL doesnt interfere), but when people sign up, then lose interest and dont bother to really say anything, it has a knock-on effect, y'know? Im just getting a bit disheartened as less and less people seem to be turning up.
2) No worries I guess. I do get where you're coming from, because its not too unusual for people to put a lot of work into something, but go completely unthanked. As far as Xanthus and Morgan go, im sure i've heard people asking for their babies... -

lol sorry but i think my tone was very polite considering ur post
[/ QUOTE ]
Polite considering my post? What? Does it offend you that I came to conclusion based on the number of absents?
[ QUOTE ]
so cut them some slack
[/ QUOTE ]
You seem to be under the misconception that I think they arent doing a good job. I have never once said they werent doing a good job, and even commended them for sticking to it when they (constantly) get massively overwhelmed and the teams insist on making them spend a good hour juggling. :P -
[ QUOTE ]
its stupid attitudes like yours that make things fail
[/ QUOTE ]
Is that so? Or maybe its the fact the poor organisers are overworked, and that loads of people just dont turn up? Its called being realistic, and even if my view isnt accurate, given the amount of non-attendants it might have been worth a re-think of the way it worked. Whilst the second 3vP tourney would indeed be better, with the amount of people who dont turn up, it might be better to temporarily tweak the rules, to make things easier. Tweak them how? I dont know. Alter the size of teams? Merge teams that have spaces?
When I said they need to fall apart at least once, that means that the rule-makers and organisers often have their first attempts go a bit dodgey. Its a learning thing, there are too many people to accomodate on prediction alone, now that they know of the scale of problems that might crop up, next time they might have a seperate pool of subs ready and waiting, or get some friends to help them organise it and keep track of the teams and so forth.
My pessimism never caused anything to fail.
I dont appreciate the backhanded tone you're using. -
7:30pm, tonight.
Its all falling apart at the seams, and with i7 fresh out, we can expect extra bugs. 3vP is doomed to fall apart, but a few of us knew this would happen. Tourneys of such size need more people to organise and keep them together, and they -need- to fall apart at least once, so the holes in the rules can be found -
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but at this stage, it might be a good idea just to call the 3vP tourneys off, and say "Okay, that was the training phase, we have a better idea how to do this now", and organise another 3vP some other time... once you have thought of a more flexable system. Preferrably one where subs cannot be specifically picked, and the person they are subbing for loses their life automatically for a no-show.
I feel your pain, Morgan.
I'll still turn up tonight though, we'll see what happens. -

I'm going to need a sub, for Dax Ferdas, as I won't be able to log in to CoH on Thursday evening - prior engagement.
Good luck to you all.

i think cap morgan h8 me he put my team again against 2 controler and again archelon. should we be fighting new opponets in each round.
[/ QUOTE ]
How can you say that? The first round you oblitorated us, and then on the second round my team only won against you by one point. If anything, going up against me again (and with another controller) should be seen as giving you the advantage, as you've already proven yourself as an Archelon Killer. Probably need a badge for it xP -
For the record, Soaring Dragons team pretty much smothered mine in the first round, against his predictions
-
[ QUOTE ]
i think they're doing a gr8 job, its not their fault so many ppl didnt turn up and considering theyre doing this without any gain for themselves i think they will deserve many beers at the end
[/ QUOTE ]
Hey, im not complaining. Trying to organise -this- many people between two of them is a real act of masochism. Their sacrifice shall be remembered! -
Yeah, this first 3vP thing will still be a bit scrambled until the finish, but the next time around, you could get some other people to help you out. Its too hard to have to factor in all the extra bits and bobs, along with having to handle all the matches, so we'll just put up with the picked subs and saved lives, and look forward to the 'fixed' second coming
-
[ QUOTE ]
- Have a 'pool' of subs and any team needing one is assigned one from the pool by the judge. Getting one that matches the build or AT of the one he's replacing should be done where possible. Allowing a team to supply their own subs should not be allowed.
- The sub is there for one thing, to help stop the other two members of the team having an unfair disadvantage. He's not part of the competition and get's no benefit other than two very grateful team mates and the chance to fight in a good PvP battle.
- No shows lose a life regardless of how their team or sub does.
It is a bit harsh and unforgiving but it's the only fair way.
[/ QUOTE ]
Definately agreed.
Even after registration closed for this event, people still wanted in. A list of subs could be formed from those who didnt make it into the actual 3vP .
