3vP Defiant Results
Hmm some typo there, Envoy was against my team twice and my team won both cases, so he should be in 1 life..
I got screenies from wins btw.
And Anath's name is actually Anata.
EDIT: But good job refereeing and writing the results!
uh, Skinz got replaced by Columna, twice and won both fights. Also I don't think it's fair that people, who don't show up, get to keep their lives if their replacements win, unless that replacement was specifically agreed upon beforehand.
Replacements should be there for helping out the rest of the teammembers do a fight, not keeping someone that doesn't bother to show up, in the tournament.
Actually it shows correctly that Skinz lost 2 lives, and columna can be seen with 3 lives left in case she continues..
Eat Static should be in 2 lives afaik.
This is a fascinating concept regardless.

Why? Columna subbed for Skinz in both matches, never for Bog Monster. So according to the rules posted above, Skinz should have 3 lives.
Woot 3 lives left awesome, now if only i can survive during next week too :P also like to say thnx to serophina and shadowfury for the good teamwork and was great teaming up with anata and troke even though we didnt get to fight together we still got the win
If subs can keep your lives for you, then I hope a good sub is found for me, because I know I won't be around next week.
I was fully exepecting to come back in two weeks time, with one life left.
Thanks to Captain Skyfall and Tridento (in the first match) - with a big 'Sorry' to Elerith for being the target of our 'Beat Up the Squishie' tactic (which seemed to work ), and thanks to Spines Sparrow and Harvest Moon (in the second match), which was a close nailbiter, where I think I was target of my first match tactic...
Run, Ferdas, Run.
See you all in two weeks (well, perhaps a few of you may have been eliminated) and good luck to you all!

no, it's right - I'm one 1 life
Would anyone believe that I'm trying to knock myself out before my holiday in a few weeks?
nope.
but i too think that if a player is subbed then the subbed needs to lose a life, they didnt turn up after all.
maybe next round what should happen is the contest is capped at a number then anyone else is a sub, regardless.
also didnt agree with some teams who used subs actually picking the sub, the rest was random, being able to pick a sub means some people would deliberately turn up late and have a better player sb for them.
heheh bet xan and cap are regretting it now
@ExtraGonk
Yup totaly agree with you there xan, morgan you need to change the rules with subs just to make things a little more fair
Idea 1: person who doesnt show up automatically loses lives for as many matches as he/she misses, and substitute's lives are not calculated at all, they just play in the fights the substituted player is supposed to play. So for a complete no-show the substitute gets to play 3 matches regardless of results, and then its over.
idea 2: Same as above except if the sub replaced a person from the start(1st round) in all of his/her matches, he/she can take over the substituted players place in the roster and have his/her lives calculated normally.
I think idea 1 would be easiest to organize for all concerned , but kinda unfair for substitutes who wanted to play.
I think that the substitute needs something to play for. If you know that no matter what you/your team do, you're going to lose, it's hard to get the same feel as if something is on the line.
If a substitute has to be used then that person should take over the position as if they were chosen originally. If this happens mid-tournament then they inherit the current standing of the person that they have taken over from. Likewise, if it is agreed that the original person comes back to claim their place, they take over the the standing of the substitute.
Unless arranged prior to the night of the tournament, people who are substituted should then be ineligible for the remainder of the tournament. This way you don't penalise those that realise that they can't make it and make necessary arrangements as against those that just don't turn up.
Those who wanted to be involved, but missed being chosen, should let themselves be known to the organisers as available substitutes. That way the organisers can allocate substitutes at random to the teams that need them. That would also prevent tactical substitutions by teams.
That would then mean that any absences before the evening are confirmed to the organisers. If you have someone prepared to step in for you, all well and good, but there would be no guarantee that they would take over your position as they would be added to the substitute pool.
Phew, this is what happens when the servers are down, I have time to think.

The problem with allowing subs to take over the standing of the person involved or allowing their result to stand for the original person is that it's open to abuse.
For example, if my team know in advance who they're coming up against and that player X on our team will be little or no use, it's very simple for him just to agree to be 'offline' for that fight in the hope we can get a much more useful sub. We had this situation for our second fight last night where I was the only squishy and was much more of a liability than an asset and could, in theory, have abused the rules(instead, I spent the fight running and hiding).
If there's no penalty for him not turning up, what's to stop him doing it to get an unfair advantage?
For me, I think the best way to do it is:
- Have a 'pool' of subs and any team needing one is assigned one from the pool by the judge. Getting one that matches the build or AT of the one he's replacing should be done where possible. Allowing a team to supply their own subs should not be allowed.
- The sub is there for one thing, to help stop the other two members of the team having an unfair disadvantage. He's not part of the competition and get's no benefit other than two very grateful team mates and the chance to fight in a good PvP battle.
- No shows lose a life regardless of how their team or sub does.
It is a bit harsh and unforgiving but it's the only fair way. I know our plans were ruined in one match when the sub used was a rad. We managed to adapt and win but if we had lost, it would have annoyed me a bit that the no shows' life was still intact.
I know the subs are essentially figthing for nothing but they're still going to try and win and I'd have been very happy to help people out as a sub just for the fight if I hadn't signed up in time.
(BTW, nice to see where you live Cambo )
Damn i hate having exams during this time would have loved to enter, This competition looks very interesting!

Definately agreed.
Even after registration closed for this event, people still wanted in. A list of subs could be formed from those who didnt make it into the actual 3vP .
That's basically my thinking on it too - events were a little hectic last night, so I kinda just went with the flow. In hindsight, two rounds at once was far too ambitious, although undoubtedly a lot of fun.
I'm all for having a mass arena battle at the end - you can all play "pin the powers on the referee", while I show off my uber arch/dev blapping skills (a level 1 character, natch)
Yeah, this first 3vP thing will still be a bit scrambled until the finish, but the next time around, you could get some other people to help you out. Its too hard to have to factor in all the extra bits and bobs, along with having to handle all the matches, so we'll just put up with the picked subs and saved lives, and look forward to the 'fixed' second coming
I would prefer having two fights per night, but there may be problems due to people getting dropped out of the competition next thursday after the third round.. You'd have to randomize new teams on the fly?

i think they're doing a gr8 job, its not their fault so many ppl didnt turn up and considering theyre doing this without any gain for themselves i think they will deserve many beers at the end

Hey, im not complaining. Trying to organise -this- many people between two of them is a real act of masochism. Their sacrifice shall be remembered!
Rum for me, but cheers
There are definite lessons to be learned from this, but so far it is going ok - I'll be more prepared next week (so I don't have to alt-tab out to look at teams for instance), which should help a lot.
Will be doing the draw for the next round probably tomorrow, as it is the lady wife's cake day today. Anyhoo, back to the rum
Don't bother drawing me in anymore, as I'll be working evenings the next two weeks sadly. I'll bring one of my blasters to sub after that, if it's still going.
Just like to say that it was a fun evening. Thanks alot for the orginisation of it all.
Although I only fought 1 match it was a good vibe and i'm sure i can happily say that all who took part are willing to do there bit to help so if you want us to group in particular areas when we've done the match or anything like that or whatever will make it easier to organise just let us knwo guys.
Thanks...and all VOTE NICE!!!
Yeh! took a while getting organised but was good fun ^_^
PS. Nicey, u were luckey we didn't fight the first match, or now u would only have 2 lives left (tehee )
Lives Left
Any no-shows are shown as losing 2 lives, unless a substitute was found to play in their place, in which case, their results stand for that player.
Those who stepped in, thankyou, please turn up next week, as there will undoubtedly be spaces for you.
