Enough With the Rikti Spawn in Atlas Park

Not a question, more of a request. It's absolutely ridiculous that Rikti need to spawn in the lowbie starting zone when the sever can't even handle more than 100 people.

The lag is absolutely ridiculous when either the zombies or rikti spawn and it chases people away quicker than a fat kid could eat a slice of chocolate cake.

So please, find a solution. Either stop spawning the Rikti in Atlas Park, the zombies as well, or at least get a server that could handle it. I can easily see having them spawn, but it's so annoying when you can't even hit something when you're trying to level a new character and these events are happening.

Thanks, first time poster since 2005.

What are your system specs? I was in a rikti fight under atlas earlier today, and while there was a bit of lag, it wasn't too bad at all. Was actually one of the more fun rikti fights I've been to in a while...

You have two choices.

You can go to the AE building and politely ask everyone using it to go to another zone.

Or you can use Galaxy as your starter zone.

This section is for players asking other players questions. The devs rarely respond to anything here.

yeah, zero lag during rikti raids.

it's your system, not the server.

Umm....no.

And yeah most of that lag is coming from AE so just politely ask all the farmers...err...excuse me AE players...to leave the zone and all that lag should clear right up. Or just start in Galaxy from now on.

Then what you are saying is that everyone who is on a lowbie toon should have to wait until they are high enough for, oh, say, Steel Canyon before they can take part in invasions? Hey, don't worry if you aren't high enough level for the Halloween events, you can just wait a whole year, or hope you're in the right place when a random one is triggered!

If the invasion bothers you, go to another zone. They only last for a short time, so it isn't like you're locked out of the zone for hours.

Or you could actually, say, run a mission given by an actual contact. If you enter an instanced mission you don't have to deal with the Rikti or Zombie invasions.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Not experiencing lag during a Rikti/Zombie invasion? Priceless.

Other solutions include:
<ul type="square">[*]Going to another zone while the invasion is on.[*]Spend the extra minute and go to a different AE building.[*]Going into a mission.[*]Heading to Kings Row once you're level 5 rather than hanging about.[*]Read a book for 5-10 minutes.[*]Just put up with it.[/list]

Here's another: use a ranged attack, since you won't be in the middle of a huge laggy fight, you can pick off whatever is in range without lag.

Seriously OP, every one of the suggestions so far have worked wonders for everyone else. If you've been here since 2k5... um... you had to have been in at least ONE other rikti raid, unless you weren't actually "here". No pity, sorry.

ok this is an INVASION they whole idea is for the Rikti to take you out... and if lagging you out works then so be it!!! You could try asking them to stop, ever try talking to a Rikti? first off all you can't understand half of what they are saying if they say anything at all and most of the time they are trying to kill you... a saying comes to mind... if you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen
best thing to do is go to galaxy heck even the Rikti try to get out of there as fast as they can concidering they spawn so close to the drones... funny as heck to see them get nailed as they port in...

Why would a lowbie need to level up to participate? The event uses the level less code and turns off debt and non-event related spawns. A level one will have the same experiance no matter what zone(s)he is in. Not that I'm saying I want the change.

I don't lag, but that's because I turn all my graphics down.

Long time forum reader here, first time poster.
I tend to MAJORLY enjoy the Rikti ship attacks in the zone.
They remind me of a time before AE and when going to the RWZ was something to look forward to.
My 16 year old son is with me for the whole summer and he has listened to me quite a few times in the past year or so about how neat it is to go on a Pylon/Ship raid in the RWZ.
After explaining it to him a few zillion times I finally got to show him what the raid was like.....
he thought it was one of the coolest things ever on a game.
I let him play with several of my charachters on Infinity and let him create his own on another server with my account...
and I have "shown him the light" on how very cool this game is and can be.
He is getting his own account this week for when he goes back to his mother's for the winter so we can play together online from 600 miles apart!

5 year old system.
Graphics on Minimum.
Still so much lag that I can barely play during an invasion. (Didn't stop me, though, they are just too cool!)

Then I increased memory from 1G to 2G.

I still have to turn Graphics to Minimum for any big event, but the lag is all but gone.

And in regular play I went from "Performance" to "Recommended".

Additional Memory is your friend.

Good for you Magellen. I hope you and your son get years of enjoyment from playing this game together..

Danke.
Yeah....
this game has been my favorite "hobby" for nearly 3 years now.
I never played another MMO game before....
and I have had no desire to play any others the whole time either.

I just showed up on Infinity one day and learned and learned and learned the hard way with my very first toon (A level 50 Nrg/Nrg Blaster) and learned the game by trial and error.
I met some nice people along the way, read the forums all the time and did my research on other websites about COH and found the game more and more fascinating as time has gone by.

I now have 4 level 50s (would have a LOT more if I were not creating alts like crazy all the time) and of the 16 charachters I have created on Infinity that I play, 4 of them are 50, and the other 12 are between levs 26 and 43.
All named "____ of Magellen"
Everyone generally knows it's me.
Which is another reason why I love the game!

And yet, there was a post the other day complaining that Atlas Park had not had any invasions yet and they wanted to know why Atlas was excluded.

Accept that a lot a of people WANT the invasions in Atlas Park. Don't expect any change.

People need to stop trying to play this game with their Tandy 1000, I mean, come on people, at least upgrade to a Intel 386 processor and DOS 6.22, I was in Atlas at least 2 times during raid and had no lag or drop in frame rate, so lets all get into the 20th century at least and upgrade.

Please?

This.

It's not the servers' fault if people decide they don't want to play the game anymore and hang out in Atlas' AE building instead.
