The Rikti are apparently afraid....

Hi!

We've gathered up on Virtue, but the Rikti appear to be a little more than fashionably late.

No event announcements, no green, ominous sky, no bombs....

Wazzup?

They're all standing around on the ship going "Guys, we're a superior lifeform. Maybe we should try a different tactic this time. Mindlessly leaping into combat against superpowered heroes seems like a bad idea, and it hasn't worked the last 417,000 times we did it."

ROFL!

Jeez, and here I was figuring the Rikti ships couldn't pass their U.S. emissions tests and got grounded at the border.....

I'm at work right now and won't be there for the beginning of the invasion event. Here'es hoping someone posts on here whats going on from time to time. That is of course if its different than the usual Rikti invasions that happen ALL THE TIME.

I say we take off and nuke them from orbit.

Hmm, i wonder if it's coincidence that have attacked the same number of times that is equal to the current FNMA lending limit on single family homes.

OMG, that explains the housing market! DOOOOOOOOOOOOM.

The game has run out of Rikti.... Too many were killed during the Meow farms.

I'm pretty sure the Rikti are just sick of losing. After probably the 425th lose, they'd get it through their heads that they can't win, but they continue to try and invade Paragon anyways.

Or maybe I shouldn't beat around the bush. What I'm really trying to say is that the devs should stop with the Rikti invasions. They're pretty bland.

Why should the Rikti give up? Just look at all those determined purse-snatchers still working the streets of Paragon City after all this time. Sure, they live in a city filled with superheroes... but maybe the old lady has a few bucks and some nice jewelry in there, right?

Right. They announced that they would be attacking this weekend so that we would all gather at Paragon City. They're really attacking Hoboken, New Jersey.

How often do the invasions come? Do they strike a few cities blue and redside every couple hours?

Posted

Apparently they're being very slow to come redside, though I've seen several blueside today.

I'm just kind of curious why they're so determined to attack Paragon City and the Rogue Isles. Same for all the other "world conquest" types. What makes this place the focal point for everything they do? Why haven't they conquered the REST of the world yet?

You'd think after getting their butts kicked over and over again in one location, they'd shift their focus and stomp the rest of the world flat, and then just bomb PC and RI from orbit.

Or maybe they're just insane. They do fit the definition of it. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results...

What really happened is that a Rikti scientist (D'ak Taeon) attempted to invent a new battle simulator for the troops but ended up creating an engrossing virtual reality entertainment device instead. Oops.

They do it because heroes and villains are defeatable, citizens are invulnerable (just look at what happens when you turn Lost back into citizens).

They can only get XP running the Paragon City or Rogue Island farms....

Arc #271637 - Welcome to M.A.G.I. - An alternative first story arc for magic origin heroes. At Hero Registration you heard the jokes about Azuria always losing things. When she loses the entire M.A.G.I. vault, you are chosen to find it.

Presumably, the attacks are simultaneously appearing all over the world, just like they were supposed to in the original invasion. To us it looks like they're always attacking our home towns because, well, that's all we can see going on. The rest is pure roleplay/backstory.

I still think that they'd have more success if they attacked without warning. Letting us know five minutes beforehand so we can all get on teams and prepare for the invasion doesn't work.

The warning we get is actually the Rikti forcibly dropping the War Walls so that they can actually get into the city zone. If they didn't drop the War Walls, they'd never be able to get inside.

Shhh... logic isn't allowed.

Why wouldn't they be able to get inside? It's not like the war walls have a ceiling. It's open to the sky.

Seems kind of like "shooting fish in a barrel" if the rikti wanted to start dropping BIG bombs down on the city.
