Grah? My AR/Traps Corruptor does amazing things with just the Corruptor values. Even if they don't change the values for Defenders, the set will still be pretty powerful. I'd be happy to get the Corruptor versions of Traps (minus Time Bomb, of course).
I'm fairly certain that the only two powers that will be changing values are Web Grenade and Acid Mortar. Most of the rest are either debuffs/buffs that don't typically change between ATs or are not debuffs/buffs at all. FFG would be one that would change if it wasn't already functioning at Defender levels.

Well considering most of Traps effects come in the form of pets (and not just pseudopets, but actual targetable pets that show up in a pet window) they'll probably have the same effects.
Unless of course a new set of "pets" is created specifically for Defender Traps, with higher values

I think Castle would at least upgrade FFG and Acid Mortar. The rest are pretty much standards. FFG can have base value at 18% and Acid Mortar can debuff at least 25% resistance?
I don't think it's that hard to do as VS in Electricity set has different values for Blaster and Defender.
Castle may just need to change these powers and call it "balanced"!
What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

25% on mortar sounds about right.

Here's hoping the porting of /traps to defenders makes the devs re-look at traps.
People are talking about all of the negatives of just porting the cor version of traps over. One positive is trip mine (if ported unchanged) will be pretty big damage in defender-land. It is worth noting at least. Just get enough defense to toe-bomb it and ignore all of your other attacks.

Positron's i13 letter: We are trying to make PvP more accessible to new players, while giving experienced PvP'ers the advantage that comes with formulating tactics around the new systems we're putting in place. It's time for a traps/sonic defender superteam. 8 FFG makes a roaming group of tankmages.
I'm excited it's a nice change of pace for people who don't want to spend all their time reapplying buffs. I hate buffing people...but I do like the benefits of buffing and debuffing. Traps does a good job of both. FFG provides good defense and mez protection with ZERO end cost. Poison Trap and Acid Mortar are very nice debuffs (again with Zero end costs)....I'm looking forward to it.

Unless Poison Trap is made better, it's not worth rolling for me. I'm just glad I already have a MM with it so I can still get the set to 50 and mark it off my list though. Don't get me wrong, I would still roll it versus FF. I would say defenders got one of the lesser sets this time around. Claws on brutes = swoon. Just give me Going Rogue so I can make that heroside.
And yeah, I'm surprised as hell that we didn't get Thermal/fire.

It's still no good. You are, in 99.999% of cases, better off just stacking trip mines. And trip mine doesn't have the outrageous recharge time that timb bomb has. Plus, you free up one more power.

I was thinking Traps would be very nice for the soloing defender; only two other powersets get mezz protection, and Traps arguably has much better personal protection then either FF or Sonic. In addition to pets that grab part of the aggro, its got Trip Mine for decent damage in the Primary, only Storm really gets that otherwise, and it would be a lot safer for a Traps to fight a tough boss with mezzing capabilities. Less exciting, perhaps, but safer.

TA has Oil Slick. I do agree with it being safer due to the pets. Those added pets start to mess up mob's AI. I have literally been saved by Acid Mortar taking all of the aggro and me backing away and recovering.

I just wish all the pets of traps had pass through ability like singularity.
I can count on 1 finger the number of times acid mortar and FF gen have helped me by blocking a doorway, but it gets hella annoying how often they impede me.
Actually, I've been thinking about it....
I don't think Defender Trap debuff/buff values will be different from MM/Corruptor's because if it is, then the dev will have to adjust Corruptor's version as well.
So basically, Defender will be having a Secondary as strong as Mastermind's. Good luck.
