Who stole my Pumpkin and why?
First person I've seen that hasn't seen this as a nice and hilarious improvement. I, personally, found it a nice touch.

The pumpkin is still in the list of items.
I haven't tried the new alakazamreact yet, but I like the variety. What I don't like is when they made it last for only a few seconds. I'm pretty sure when it was first introduced it would last untill you moved or something happened to you.
No, it had a timer before, too.
I liked the pumpkin too. Somehow turning into a medical trolley just doesn't have the same touch.

Or, maybe, they could have added a new emote for the random stuff and leave the old emote untouched.

Yes. When first introduced you did indeed remain as a pumpkin until you moved. The rumor as to why that aspect was removed is that players in pvp were using it to be able to hide behind short walls and objects or in shallow water. Since only their name would be visible they were a lot harder to spot when moving quickly around.

Wonder if it would be possible for them to PvP-zone-ize the emote, letting us have the "Until-you-move" version back in PvE.

That would be cool. Even supergroups who were out of prestige could furnish their bases.
Hmmm... I wonder if you could sit on a superhero couch.

I'm unimpressed by the change as well. An emote should not have to root you for the duration like attacks do. Are there any others that do? I can't think of any.
Turning into a pumpkin also has some background to it IRL, ie the Cinderella carriage being referenced when you someone doesn't like being out late -- "they turn into a pumpkin" is the joke there. Pumpkins being mystically tied in-game to the Fir Bolg in Croatoa also seemed a little funny while also making sense with the in-game lore for people who chose to use them that way.
Yes, it's novel now, but I'm willing to bet the novelty of "hey I'm a hospital bed!" will die off quickly for anyone who isn't that easily amused. I'm not saying that everything in the game "has to make sense" but considering this was one of the rare things that actually did seem to follow some sort of plan....
So yeah, why not have two emotes? One for the traditional pumpkin emote and one for the new random item emote that locks you down in one spot.

Tis true - and the emote for it was just /em Alakazam - the pumpkin used to remain until you moved or typed the /em Alakazamreact -if memory serves me well.
There is always a lot to be thankful for, if you take the time to look. For example, I'm sitting here thinking how nice it is that wrinkles don't hurt. ~Author Unknown

nope
/em alakazam was always a casting animation
/em alakazamreact was the emote used by someone you were "casting" the alakazam emote on to turn into a pumpkin.
(like /em slap and /em slapreact)
You used ot stay a pumpkin until you moved until they changed it for reasons mentioned above, as has been mentioned above.

This.
I really miss being able to sit around in Croatoa as a pumpkin. Even if they were to keep the new shuffle of forms, I would love to be able to go back to staying as the object till I decide to change back.

Count me as another one; I find nothing funny or cute about being turned into a desk lamp.
I'd prefer that they create another emote with the pumpkin only, thereby allowing everyone to be happy. As it is now though, I think turning into a desk lamp or a barrel or a wooden box is stupid, and this has spoiled my enjoyment of the emote. Which is too bad, because it was one of the best.
You not liking something? Say it isn't so!

Eh I personally don't see why the Devs felt they had time to tinker with this old emote when they still haven't made it so that a person can use the juggle emotes while Hovering. *shrugs*

Hi Guys,
okay, for 24 months I have regularly used my favourite emote "alakazamreact" (yes I already know how sad that is!) and especially during the halloween events it is actually relevent.
Now following issue 15 going live the pumpkin has gone, to be replaced by a random selection of fairly tacky furniture items.
Does anybody know what the rational or need was to cause this change?
Was it being farmed or used in some unfathonable exploit?
There is so much more stuff in the game at present that is actually broken what was so important that made this an issue requireing Dev time to alter?
I lost 78 AE badges and now an old friend in the shape of a pumpkin, enough I cry and bring it back.
Cheers
