SS/Stone seems like the ideal pairing... as Rage and all of the opportunities for FF procs would allow you to mitigate most of the downside of Granite... I've been playing with a 'money is no object build' and the results are pretty amazing...

OH GOD NO!!!
I tried but I've never been able to get into /Stone. The whole slow, -jump thing in Rooted just sucked to me. I move around a lot and value combat mobility. I took TP but it's just not the same, when you have a runner and you misjudge your TP all you can do is watch him go.
I don't like /stone myself for several reasons, but I realize it has its merits. I won't ever play because I am pretty particular about costumes and such. As long as you have to look like a giant pile of rubble, I will never play it.
If you have played everything else and just want to try it out, go for it.

- to add a bit more, there are several other secondaries to try in addition to /stone if you are looking for something new. Try /invuln or /wp or /sr. I personally find those more fun and less penalizing than /stone

2) Butterfly Cloud. Toggle: Resist Smashing/Lethal. The swirling butterflies around you absorb some of the force of strikes aimed at you.
Etc. 
But would this armor be Prettier than Energy Armor?

The T-9 needs to be Fairy Army - A bunch of Fairys come and protect you from danger.
I have a lvl 27 Stone/Stone right now. I was in the camp of "I hate playing in slow-motion" but I decided to try it. I actually started building an IO build for speed, and it's working out pretty well! Between Movement bonuses and Running Speed bonuses I have him pretty fast even with Rooted on, and a lot of the sets are cheap (KB sets like Kin Crash). His survivability is already damn tough.. so try it, you might like it. BTW, yeah, I broke down and chose TP as my travel power- word of advice.. turn Rooted OFF before TPing into mid-air. Otherwise you drop like a.. well..STONE

Well, stones armour is pretty much just a mule build. Everyone wants you for AE because you can't die and by joining these teams you can get pretty rich...along came a spider... this as gives you 550K per AV kill at level 50 and you need a stoner for it or else you wipe every time. Stone armour does have a lot of negitives just as everyone has mentioned. a good pairing that I have seen with stone armour is warmace.

Cant an /invul Brute/Tank do the same things that a Stone could and better? When did Stone get better than /Invl?
I mean why call a set invulnerability when it isn't?
